Abstract

Quantum computing and Automation are two of the booming technologies with an expected tremendous expansion in the future. Quantum computing uses quantum mechanics to address the complex problems while automation is sequential arrangement of devices, systems which reduces human interaction in processes. Amalgamation of these two technologies is expected to enhance the working, processing of the systems and the way businesses run. It can be used for effective planning of resources, systems, working reducing the lead time and overall time of the working cycle. It helps in the analysis of nature of the substances under varied circumstances without actually experimenting. It aids in understanding the nature of things and the way work can be proceeded with minimum effort to attain maximum benefit. Hence its uses can be diversified to different sectors and segments of the economy. Quantum computing when clubbed with automation can plan the kind of crop varieties to be grown according to the geographic conditions, reduce emission of greenhouse gases, revolutionalize climate modelling, increase the production activities with efficient resource planning and reduction of lead time, enhance the productivity and consumer satisfaction of services through innovative and error free work. This paper gives a brief account of quantum computing and automation through introduction, review of literature, applications & challenges and ends with a conclusion post future scope stating as to how quantum computing can significantly evolve in the future where its applications can be expanded profusely which when coupled with automation can enrich the ease of performances in different sectors.

Advancements in computer technologies have been evolving in order to provide new services or to improve recent computing performance. Applications of computer technologies to several real-world domains are becoming more realistic and efficient. Two challenges are taken into consideration when applying such technologies including more complicated user requirements and exponential growth of data. In the real world, which is driven by business, achieving user requirements is one promising way of yielding competitive advantages. Moreover, time constraints are also crucial for corporate users. Apart from structured data, unstructured data have been significantly generated via several platforms. Such aspects make data processing more demanding. Quantum technology, which is instantiated in physics, has been utilized in various fields including computer science. Even the real quantum computer is still in its early development, but other concepts such as quantum information and quantum computing are making progress. Furthermore, some quantum-based algorithms have been analytically proven to have higher performance compared to the traditional ones. According to such important milestones, quantum computing has been regarded as one of the key infrastructures of future computing. This paper aims to focus on the main aspects of quantum computing including its backgrounds and recent advancement to provide a clearer picture. Its recent applications to intelligent system enhancement, cybersecurity and cryptography empowerment, and finance are addressed. Several key ideas, and opportunities of quantum computing utilization are also outlined based upon systematic reviews of existing works and case studies. Moreover, comparative analysis between classical and quantum computing in terms of core principles, computational efficiency, and practical feasibility is given. Better understanding and proper preparation of applying quantum computing are thus achieved.

Quantum Computing and Instrumentation for Smart Sustainable Agriculture

Nagamani Prabu Arumugam, M.M. Karthikeyan, Keerthivasan Krishnamoorthy

The innovations of quantum computing, sophisticated tools, and artificial intelligence (AI) are changing the future of sustainable farming to present solutions to resource management, precise care, and environment monitoring of crops and animals. This section talks about how the application of quantum computing transforms agricultural data analysis, optimization, and simulation processes. It highlights that the integration of the IoT sensors, quantum-enhanced AI system models, and heterogeneous modeling methods makes it manageable and automates processes in the farms. The second portion of the chapter discusses the application of AI in crop prediction, identification of diseases and pests, examination of livestock DNA, and irrigation systems management. Despite some remaining hardware and integration problems, quantum–classical and multi-disciplinary science cooperation/collaboration will most likely lead to greater scalability, efficiency, and sustainability in agriculture. Adopting the most recent technologies in the agricultural production industry can increase production, reduce damage to the environment, and guarantee the availability of food as the global demands evolve.

Quantum Computing for Optimization and Its Applications

Poornima Pandian, Chithra Selvaraj, R. Yugha

Quantum computing is a novel kind of computation that solves very complicated problems rapidly by applying concepts from basic physics. Concepts like quantum mechanical computing and quantum algorithms are included in the field of quantum computing study. Researchers have imagined quantum computing as a revolutionary idea among emerging technologies in terms of concepts, methods, and techniques. These are cross-pollinated. Hence, quantum computing becomes more and more multidisciplinary. Quantum computing leverages quantum mechanical phenomena like superposition and quantum interference to deal with some kinds of problems more precisely than conventional computing. Because of its unique characteristics, which set it apart from conventional computers in terms of functionality and operation, quantum computing has grown in popularity. There are possibilities of creating hybrid models, namely approaches for large-scale mixed-integer programming issues, that effectively combine the strengths of quality control techniques with deterministic algorithms to handle combinatorial challenges.
