The work is devoted to the theoretical study of the energy spectrum and magnetic properties of the modified antiferromagnetic spin (1/2, s) diamond chain. This is a frustrated mixed spin system with the unit cells formed by two spin ½ and one spin s>1/2. On the base of extended Lieb theorem we proved the possibility of the appearance of quantum phase transitions mediated by ratio of coupling parameters at arbitrary nonzero value of the spin s for the above model. The results of our exact diagonalization study for some finite chain clusters with s=1 supports this conclusion. We also studied analytically and numerically magnetic properties of Heisenberg –Ising diamond mixed spin chain. The exact energy spectrum of this model is found in analytical form at arbitrary values of model parameters. On the base of this spectrum we studied the field dependence of two-particle correlators for neighbor Ising spins. It was found that at special relation between coupling parameters there is a critical value of external magnetic field for which the above correlator takes zero value (the absence of the correlation between Ising spins). For infinite spin chain model we studied field dependence of specific magnetization by means of classical transfer- matrix method and found intermediate plateau in the low-temperature magnetization profile. According to our calculations, the size of this plateau depends strongly on the relations between coupling parameters of the model. We hope this feature of our model gives new possibilities for the design of new magnetic chemo-sensors.

The low-dimensional quantum spin systems have been extensively studied in the past three decades due to the novel ground states and rich magnetic behaviors, especially the quantum spin chain with diamond topology structure. Motivated by recent experimental success in Cu3(CO3)2(OH)2 compound, which is regarded as a model material of spin-1/2 diamond chain, researchers have paid a lot of attention to various variants of diamond spin chains. In this paper,we mainly examine the magnetic properties of an antisymmetric spin-1/2 Ising-Heisenberg diamond chain with the secondneighbor interaction between nodal spins.By using exact diagonalization and transfer-matrix methods, the ground-state phase diagram, magnetization behavior and macroscopic thermodynamics are exactly solved for the particular case that all magnetic bonds yield antiferromagnetic couplings, which usually shows the most interesting magnetic features closely related to a striking interplay between geometric frustration and quantum fluctuations. To clearly illustrate the effect of second-neighbor interaction item,we consider a highly frustrated situation that all Ising-Heisenberg bonds and Heisenberg bonds possess the same interaction strength. The calculation results indicate that the second-neighbor interaction item will enrich ground states and magnetization plateaus.A classical ferrimagnetic phase FRI1 corresponding to a novel two-thirds of intermediate plateau with translationally broken symmetry is introduced, manifesting itself as up-up-up-down-up-up spin configuration at a ground-state.In addition, there are other four distinct ground states which can be identified from the phase diagram,i.e.,one saturated paramagnetic phase SP,one classical ferrimagnetic phase FRI2,one quantum ferrimagnetic phase QFI and the unique quantum antiferromagnetic phase QAF.The classical phase FRI2 and quantum phase QFI both generate one-third of magnetization plateau. It is worth mentioning that all the values of these magnetization plateaus satisfy the Oshikawa-Yamanaka-Affleck condition.Besides, the results also have shown a rich variety of temperature dependence of total magnetization and specific heat. The magnetization displays the remarkable thermal-induced changes as the external field is sufficiently close to critical value where two or more than two different ground states coexist. At the critical field relevant to a coexistence of two different states, the total magnetization displays a monotonic decrease trend. The thermal dependence of zero-field specific heat displays relative complex variations for different second-neighbor interactions between nodal spins. At first, the specific heat presents only a single rounded Schottky-type maximum.Using the second-neighbor interaction, another sharp peak arises at low-temperature and is superimposed on this round maximum, and the specific heat exhibits a double-peak structure. On further strengthening, the low-temperature one keeps its height shifting towards high temperature, while the hightemperature round peak suffers great enhancement and moves in an opposite direction. Finally, the low temperature peak entirely merges with the Schottky-type peak at a certain value of second-neighbor interaction, and above this value, the specific curve recovers its single peak structure. The observed double-peak specific heat curves mainly originate from thermal excitations between the ground-state spin configuration QAF and the ones close enough in energy to the ground state.
A quantum spin-21 antiferromagnetic Heisenberg trimerized chain with strong intradimer and weak monomer-dimer coupling constants is studied using the many-body perturbation expansion, which is developed from the exactly solved spin-21 Ising-Heisenberg diamond chain preserving correlations between all interacting spins of the trimerized chain. It is evidenced that this perturbation approach is superior with respect to the standard perturbation scheme developed from a set of noninteracting spin monomers and dimers, and its accuracy even coincides, up to a moderate ratio of the coupling constants, with state-of-the-art numerical techniques. The Heisenberg trimerized chain shows the intermediate one-third plateau, which was also observed in the magnetization curve of the polymeric compound Cu3(P2O6OH)2 affording its experimental realization. Within the modified strong-coupling method we have obtained the effective Hamiltonians for the magnetic field range from zero to the one-third plateau, and from the one-third plateau to the saturation magnetization. The unconventional second-order perturbation theory provides extremely accurate results for both critical fields of the intermediate one-third plateau up to a moderate ratio of the coupling constants as convincingly evidenced through a comparison with numerical density-matrix renormalization group data. It is shown that the derived effective Hamiltonian also provides at low enough temperatures sufficiently accurate results for magnetization curves and thermodynamic properties as corroborated through a comparison with quantum Monte Carlo simulations. Using the results for the effective Hamiltonian, we additionally suggest a straightforward procedure for finding the microscopic parameters of one-dimensional trimerized magnetic compounds with strong intradimer and weak monomer-dimer couplings. We found the refined values for the coupling constants of Cu3(P2O6OH)2 by matching the theoretical results with the available experimental data for the magnetization and magnetic susceptibility in a wide range of temperatures and magnetic fields.

The spin-1/2 Heisenberg antiferromagnet on the frustrated diamond-decorated square lattice is known to feature various zero-field ground-state phases, consisting of extended monomer-dimer and dimer-tetramer ground states as well as a ferrimagnetic regime. Using a combination of analytical arguments, density matrix renormalization group (DMRG), exact diagonalization as well as sign-problem-free quantum Monte Carlo (QMC) calculations, we investigate the properties of this system and the related Lieb lattice in the presence of a finite magnetic field, addressing both the ground-state phase diagram as well as several thermodynamic properties. In addition to the zero-field ground states, we find at high magnetic field a spin-canted phase with a continuously rising magnetization for increasing magnetic field strength as well as the fully polarized paramagnetic phase. At intermediate field strength, we identify a first-order quantum phase transition line between the ferrimagnetic and the monomer-dimer regime. This first-order line extends to finite temperatures, terminating in a line of critical points that belong to the universality class of the two-dimensional Ising model.
The exact solution of the distorted Ising-Hubbard model for a diamond chain is obtained by means of transfer matrix method. Based on this solution the magnetic, thermal and concurrence properties of the system are studied. We discuss in detail the ground state varying values of Ising and Hubbard interaction couplings, hopping amplitude, magnetic field, chemical potential and get paramagnetic, ferromagnetic, antiferromagnetic and ferrimagnetic phases of the system. Plateaus in magnetization curves and several-peak structures of the specific heat curve for different values of Hamiltonian parameters are obtained. The dependence of concurrence in Hubbard dimers from chain parameters, external magnetic field and temperature are studied.
An exactly solvable variant of a mixed spin-(1/2,1) Ising-Heisenberg diamond chain is considered. Vertical spin-1 dimers are taken as quantum ones with Heisenberg bilinear and biquadratic interactions and with single-ion anisotropy, while all interactions between spin-1 and spin-1/2 residing on the intermediate sites are taken in the Ising form. The detailed analysis of the T=0 ground-state phase diagram is presented. The phase diagrams have been shown to be rather rich, demonstrating a large variety of ground states: a saturated one, three ferrimagnetic ones with magnetization equal to 3/5, and another four ferrimagnetic ground states with magnetization equal to 1/5. There are also two frustrated macroscopically degenerated ground states that could exist at zero magnetic filed. Solving the model exactly within a classical transfer-matrix formalism we obtain exact expressions for all thermodynamic functions of the system. The thermodynamic properties of the model have been described exactly by exact calculation of the partition function within the direct classical transfer-matrix formalism.
