Quantum-Enhanced Feature Extraction for Image Recognition

Jincheng Zhang

Quantum-enhanced feature extraction is a rapidly evolving field with the potential to revolutionize image recognition. Traditional feature extraction methods often struggle with the curse of dimensionality, limiting the expressive power of extracted features. This paper investigates the application of quantum entanglement to enhance feature representation and analysis, aiming to overcome these limitations. We propose a novel framework that utilizes quantum properties to reveal subtle correlations within images, potentially leading to improved accuracy and speed. This work explores the potential of quantum entanglement to provide a fundamentally new approach to image recognition, moving beyond classical feature extraction techniques.

Improved Edge Detection Using Frei-Chen Operator on NEQR Quantum Image: a Comparative Analysis with Sobel, Prewitt, and Kirsch Operator

Gayathri Ss, Ajay Kumar C, Shriram S. Sunderram +3 more

The proposed study investigates the use of the Novel Enhanced Quantum Representation (NEQR) in Quantum picture Processing (QIP) for image processing. It focusses on the way the FREI-CHEN edge detection operator, which is an enhanced Prewitt operator, behaves on quantum images. The Frei-Chen operator improves edge identification more precisely than the Prewitt operator, Sobel operator and Kirsch operator. The work shows significant improvements by applying the Frei-Chen operator on quantum-converted pictures, obtaining a Mean Square Error (MSE) of about 19.4932 and a Peak Signal-to-Noise Ratio (PSNR) of around 35.4453 dB.
