By existing in multiple states simultaneously, qubits perform fast and optimize operations growth. This paper explores the use case of quantum computing’s potential and integration with cutting-edge fields such as nanotechnology, AI, advanced DNA data storage, and sustainable Li-S energy storage devices. Achieving quantum computer integration with nanotechnology, advancing hardware for future challenges, and space exploration’ missions by precisely engineering qubit materials, superconducting circuits, and quantum dots. Graphene, carbon nanotubes, and fabrication techniques for driving scalable quantum device production. Quantum machine learning (QML) algorithms to solve complex optimizations and predictive tasks. Researching optimal solutions in data and battery storage systems and finding the best algorithm in quantum networking and communication for long-range connectivity with a fast and secure network. Investigating challenges such as error corrections, cost, accessibility, and adaptability. Combining all modern innovations with one technology offers the best result that can change the theoretical fiction world into the real world, not today, but in a few decades.

Quantum artificial intelligence: Bridging innovation, ethics, and sustainability in a hybrid era

Ibrahim A. Atoum

The convergence of Quantum Computing (QC) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) ushers in a transformative era of computational capability, with profound implications for science and industry alongside significant technical, ethical, and environmental challenges. This article explores quantum-enhanced AI (QAI), focusing on foundational quantum principles—superposition, entanglement, and quantum parallelism—and their applications in molecular simulation, financial optimization, and climate modeling. While quantum algorithms offer exponential speedups for Machine Learning (ML) and optimization, persistent barriers such as qubit decoherence, scalability limitations, and high energy demands hinder progress. Hybrid quantum-classical architectures are identified as critical transitional tools, combining quantum processors for specialized tasks like combinatorial optimization with classical systems for error correction and data preprocessing. Near-term commercial healthcare, finance, and logistics applications are highlighted, including pilot projects using quantum neural networks (QNNs) for drug discovery, portfolio risk analysis, and supply chain optimization. However, dual-use risks—such as quantum-powered surveillance and threats to classical encryption—emphasize the need for post-quantum cryptography (PQC) and ethical frameworks. Environmental concerns, particularly the carbon footprint of superconducting qubits, drive calls for sustainable innovations like photonic qubit designs and renewable-powered quantum data centers. Anticipated milestones include fault-tolerant QNNs, standardized benchmarks for quantum advantage, and democratized cloud access. Achieving these goals requires addressing interdisciplinary talent shortages, algorithmic biases, and global disparities in quantum infrastructure. This work advocates for governance models integrating sustainability metrics and equity-focused policies to steer QAI development responsibly. By harmonizing technical innovation with ethical foresight, the quantum-AI synergy can advance solutions to global challenges while mitigating misuse and ecological harm risks.

The rapid convergence of quantum computing and artificial intelligence (AI) marks a transformative phase in computational sciences, promising groundbreaking solutions to problems beyond the reach of classical systems. This paper provides a comprehensive survey of the theoretical foundations, key advancements, and future challenges of integrating quantum computing into AI. The discussion begins with foundational quantum concepts, including the principles of superposition, entanglement, and interference, as well as mathematical frameworks such as Dirac notation and tensor product spaces. These concepts form the backbone of quantum algorithms and architectures designed to enhance AI capabilities. The paper delves into the state-of-the-art in quantum hardware, exploring the construction of quantum gates, circuits, and the innovations driving superconducting qubits, trapped ions, and photonic quantum systems. It reviews the contributions of leading industry and academic players in overcoming scalability and error correction challenges. Building on these hardware advancements, the survey examines prominent quantum algorithms, such as Shor’s algorithm for cryptography, Grover’s algorithm for search and optimization, and their potential to accelerate machine learning tasks. A significant portion of the survey focuses on quantum machine learning (QML), covering core architectures like Quantum Neural Networks (QNNs), Variational Quantum Circuits (VQCs), and Quantum Boltzmann Machines (QBMs). The paper also explores Quantum Support Vector Machines (QSVM) and Quantum Principal Component Analysis (QPCA), emphasizing their implementation, data encoding strategies, and optimization processes. Despite these advances, the paper identifies persistent challenges that hinder widespread adoption, including quantum decoherence, hardware scalability, and the need for modular architectures. Additionally, it considers the ethical and economic implications of quantum-AI integration, particularly as quantum technologies evolve from theoretical models to practical applications. The insights presented here aim to guide researchers, practitioners, and policymakers in shaping the future of this transformative field.

Abdus Sobhan, Md Tanvir Islam Sourav, Nasrullah Masud +1 more

Fast data and growing artificial intelligence have brought traditional computer infrastructures to their limits. They expose inherent limitations in processing speed, energy efficiency, and scalability. In the face of nearing physical barriers with Moore's Law and memory bottlenecks plaguing traditional von Neumann architectures, quantum computing offers a completely new way of leveraging principles such as superposition and entanglement to redefine computation possibilities. This review is concerned with addressing how quantum computing stands to do that foundational AI and big data challenges, from accelerating extremely complex optimization tasks to enabling very secure, real-time analytics. These topics include basic principles of quantum mechanics, the basis of qubits and quantum circuits; updates in quantum algorithms (such as Grover's search, quantum annealing); and hybrid classical-quantum systems that serve as pathways through technological gaps. The paper suggests major applications of transformative nature in some of the higher-impact domains: quantum-accelerated drug discovery for health, portfolio optimization in finance, and quantum-secured communication infrastructures to guard the IoT. Case studies present early successes on quantum machine learning models improving diagnostic accuracy and annealing-based traffic optimization for urban congestion. Decoherence, error-prone devices, as well as low software ecosystems are conspiring against the actual roadways to practical quantum advantages. Future progress is dependent on the innovative development of error-corrected qubits, scalable algorithms, as well as interdisciplinary collaboration. While universal quantum supremacy remains while unreached, this coming decade promises a series of developments toward applied, specific applications that will place quantum computing as an added force among the classical systems. This review tries to project both sides of the likely potential of the space, obstacles, and path, paving the way for the researcher to find their foot in the continually progressing quantum-AI terrain.
