Abstract

Several approaches and techniques exist to make communication via the internet secure, one of these approaches is steganography. Computer steganography can be defined as a method of hiding data in cover media so that others are not aware of its existence. Quantum computers, built on the principles of quantum physics, have introduced new possibilities for researchers in security and computer science. This paper explores the fundamentals of quantum computing, its achievements, and the challenges and future prospects it presents in the field of cryptography and steganography. Quantum computers give us a new approach to different kinds of complicated problems in security fields by creating multi-state computing spaces. The article deals with the steganography system which hides text inside images and after that realize quantum communication. The secret message is hidden in the cover image using Least Significant Bit (LSB) algorithm. The paper proposes an information transmission scheme with a quantum channel enabled. Quantum key distribution (QKD) is a secure communication method that implements a cryptographic protocol involving components of quantum mechanics.

Several approaches and techniques exist to make communication via the internet secure, one of these approaches is steganography. Computer steganography is a technique used to conceal data within cover media, ensuring that its presence remains undetected by others. We investigate the steganography potential applications in quantum communication and assess its benefits in the context of secret information transmission. Quantum computers, built on the principles of quantum physics, have introduced new possibilities for researchers in security and computer science. This paper explores the possibilities of realizing a quantum steganography communication, the challenges and its achievements of quantum steganography to tackle a wide range of security and privacy challenges. The article deals with the steganography system which hides text inside images and after that realize quantum communication. The secret message is hidden in the cover image using Least Significant Bit (LSB) algorithm. The paper proposes an information transmission scheme with a quantum channel enabled and visualization of quantum steganography protocol.

Efficient and Secure Communication of Quantum Image Steganography using 3-way’s of Authentication

K. C. Chandana, Vaithianathan Geetha

The concept of Cryptography and Steganography is not a new technique, even though it is ancient but not static. In Cryptography and Steganography the new emerging techniques are done using Quantum Mechanics and Quantum Physics. In this paper, mainly works on how to use Quantum Technique in cryptography system and in field of steganography. Steganography is a process of hiding information of the different types of media files (audio, text, image and video) in another media files. In this paper, mainly the quantum steganography works for two imagery files. The quantum secret image will be hiding in the Quantum Cover image. In this process of hiding of information or image, need to select the pixels. The Qbits used to store the secret image are two most and least significant Qbits. The secret image will be scrambled first, using Arnold’s cat map technique, and then will be embedded into Quantum Cover picture. The Stegno Image is sufficient to extract the secret information. The NEQR quantum representation model is used for converting image into quantum states. The simulation result and analysis demonstrates that the proposed scheme has good visibility and high embedding capacity.

Enhance Approach on Steganography Using Quantum Computing

Ayush V Jain, Ayush Singh, Ashirbad Satapathy +1 more

Quantum computing combines computer science with quantum mechanics, and it is a fast-growing research field. The theory of quantum computing has become significant in the secure transmission of keys which can be achieved by implementing quantum mechanics such as polarization. It uses quantum states to permit the classical information and uses quantum entanglement to ensure reliable transmission creating a secure channel. The elementary unit of quantum information is a quantum bit (qubit). These qubits can be transmitted as a two-state system such as spin-half, a two-level atom. The qubits can also be manipulated using polarization techniques. One drawback of quantum computing is side channel attacks which make the information transmitted vulnerable, the attacker can eavesdrop, decline the integrity of the information or the attacker can target the physical implementation of quantum algorithms. Therefore, to prevent side-channel attacks, this paper focuses on developing a novel approach to detect the side-channel attack and rectify the same within a fraction of a second to improve resiliency. The paper initially converts the user-defined key into binary and applies an encryption algorithm to create an image, serving as cover data for the hidden message. After appropriate polarizer selection, the encrypted key is transmitted through a quantum channel. Verification ensures no tampering or eavesdropping, and the image with the hidden message is shared via a classical channel with the intended recipient. Comparative analysis with traditional key security methods, alongside monitoring for third-party eavesdropping using a quantum key simulator, demonstrates the proposed system's over 99% enhancement in secret key security.

Stego Quantum Algorithm

Gabriela Mogos

Steganography is the art and science of hiding the fact that communication is taking place. Steganographic systems can hide messages inside of images or other digital objects. To a casual observer inspecting these images, the messages are invisible. The security of a classical steganographic system relies on the secrecy of the encoding system. Once the encoding system is known, the steganographic system is defeated. However, modern steganography should be detectable only if secret information is known, namely, asecret key. Because of their invasive nature, steganographic systems leave detectable traces within a medium's characteristics. This allows an eavesdropper to detect modified media, revealing that secret communication is taking place. Although the secret content is not exposed, its existence is revealed, which defeats the mainpurpose of steganography. This work has as purpose to expand the field of applicability of the steganography from the classical informatics to the quantum one.

Perspective Chapter: Quantum Steganography – Encoding Secrets in the Quantum Domain

Arun Agrawal, Rishi Soni, Archana Tomar

The chapter provides a comprehensive overview of the evolving field of quantum steganography, highlighting its potential impact on information security in the age of quantum computing. Steganography, rooted in ancient practices, has traditionally concealed data within classical computing systems, but the emergence of quantum computing poses new challenges. Quantum steganography adapts classical principles to leverage the unique properties of quantum mechanics, employing quantum bits (qubits), superposition, and entanglement for secure data concealment. The abstract delves into the conceptual framework of a quantum steganography algorithm, emphasizing its complexity and the integration of quantum key distribution for enhanced security. The applications span secure communication, medical records, financial transactions, military defense, intellectual property protection, and more. Despite promising prospects, quantum steganography faces challenges such as quantum state fragility and hardware constraints, requiring ongoing research to unlock its full potential in safeguarding sensitive information.

Hide Secrets Using the Power of Quantum Computers

Gabriela Mogos

Secret communication is everywhere around us today. Cryptography is being used to encrypt messages so that they can be read only by someone who has the key.Combining the art of steganography with the powers of computers has brought a method of hiding information to a whole new level. Steganography hides messages so that their very existence is undetectable. The idea of embedding some information within a digital media, in such a way that the inserted data are intrinsically part of the media itself, has aroused a considerable interest in different fields. This work has as a purpose to expand the field of applicability of the embedded information within a digital media from the classical informatics to the quantum one.
