Quantum State-Density Wave Refraction: Foundations of Hilbert Space Optics
Jincheng Zhang
The manipulation of waves through inhomogeneous media has historically defined classical optics, acoustics, and quantum matter-wave physics. In this paper, we introduce the foundational framework of Quantum State-Density Wave Refraction (QSDWR), a novel physical phenomenon occurring when the accessible quantum state density experiences spatial variations, inducing the refraction of quantum state propagation paths. By defining a rigorous quantum state refractive index, denoted as n_Q = sqrt(rho_Q / rho_{Q,0}), we establish an analogue to Snell's law in Hilbert space, namely n_{Q1} sin(theta_1) = n_{Q2} sin(theta_2). This framework bridges quantum mechanics and geometric optics, paving the way for a generalized discipline termed Hilbert Space Optics. We explore the theoretical foundations, wave propagation dynamics, Eikonal equations, and prospective applications of QSDWR, highlighting its potential to revolutionize quantum state manipulation, quantum routing, and information architecture without relying on physical spatial boundaries.
