Abstract

The article analyzes the potential of quantum algorithms for optimizing cognitive decision-making systems in production processes in the energy sector. Compared with traditional algorithms, quantum algorithms allow high-speed processing of large amounts of variable data in real time and solving multiparameter problems based on an integrated approach. The study considers uncertainties and issues of increasing efficiency in the processes of production and distribution of electricity using a cognitive model. The integration of quantum algorithms into this model allows developing optimal strategies for using resources in production. A heating boiler was taken as a control object, and taking into account its multidimensionality and multi-connectedness, the problem of modeling an intelligent control system using quantum algorithms was solved.

A QUANTUM-LIKE APPROACH IN UNDERSTANDING MODELING COGNITION AND DECISION-MAKING PROCESSES (REVIEW OF FOREIGN LITERATURE)

M. M. Yusupova, S. A. Gureev, Mingazov R.N. +1 more

The article presents a review of foreign scientific literature on the quantum-like approach to understanding the modeling of cognition and decision-making processes. It is shown that the current application of quantum physics approaches to consciousness, psychological approaches such as perception, cognition, emotions, consciousness and learning, involves the search for a single objective mathematical model of what underlies the experience of the brain. The use of quantum physics algorithms can help in understanding the mechanisms of brain malfunctions and memory impairments that are found in pathologies such as dementia caused by Alzheimer's disease, schizophrenia, etc. Quantum physics approaches are applicable to issues of modeling cognition and decision-making processes, as well as in cognitive research, information processing by the human brain, artificial intelligence development, psychology, social and political sciences. Application of the abstract mathematical principles of quantum theory can help in understanding human consciousness and behavior. Quantum probability theory is applied to modeling human behavior due to the prevalence of uncertainty in human interaction with the world. Quantum cognitive models are especially useful in research in such areas as errors in decision making, order effects of questions, conceptual combinations, accumulation of evidence, perception, etc. Of particular interest to researchers are issues of quantum-like modeling of cognition and decision-making processes, the apparatus of quantum information and probability theory, useful for such modeling, as well as the use of such apparatus in cognitive research, the development of artificial intelligence, psychology, social and political sciences.

Application of Quantum Computing Algorithms in the Synthesis of Control Systems for Dynamic Objects

Noilakhon Sobirjоnovna Yakubova, Komil Isroilovich Usmanov, Zafar Turakulov +1 more

Currently, the main focus in the automation of technological processes is on developing control systems that enhance the quality of the control process. Because the systems being controlled are often complex, multidimensional, and nonlinear, quantum computing algorithms offer an effective solution. Although there are several intelligent control methods available to improve the quality of technological processes, each has certain drawbacks. Quantum algorithms, which rely on the principles of quantum correlation and superposition, are designed to optimize control while minimizing energy and resource consumption. This article discusses the diesel fuel hydrotreating process, a critical step in oil refining. The primary goal of hydrotreating is to enhance fuel quality by removing sulfur, nitrogen, and oxygen compounds. To accurately model this process, it is essential to consider not only the external factors affecting it but also its physical characteristics. By doing so, the mathematical model becomes more precise. Based on this approach, a quantum fuzzy control system for the diesel fuel hydrotreating process was developed using quantum algorithms. These algorithms can rapidly analyze large amounts of data and make decisions. At the same time, a computer model of a fuzzy quantum control system for the process of hydrotreating diesel fuel was constructed, and a number of computational experiments were carried out. As a result, a 1.8% reduction in energy costs for the diesel fuel hydrotreating process was achieved.

Multi-Objective Quantum Optimization of Process Intensification Strategies in Next-Generation Chemical Plants

Eda Dolak

The integration of quantum optimization techniques into chemical engineering has emerged as a frontier in achieving more efficient, sustainable, and adaptive process design. This study presents a qualitative investigation into the role of multi-objective quantum optimization frameworks for enhancing process intensification in next-generation chemical plants. The research explores how quantum-inspired algorithms—leveraging quantum superposition, entanglement, and probabilistic search mechanisms—can optimize multiple competing objectives such as energy consumption, production throughput, and environmental impact simultaneously. Through a comprehensive review of both academic and industrial literature, the study identifies key trends in the use of hybrid quantum–classical models for solving high-dimensional optimization problems in chemical plant design and operation. It examines how quantum-assisted methods, including the Quantum Approximate Optimization Algorithm (QAOA) and Variational Quantum Eigensolver (VQE), can accelerate simulation convergence and decision-making in process systems engineering. The qualitative findings underscore the transformative potential of quantum-enhanced computation in enabling process intensification, where chemical operations are redesigned for maximum efficiency and minimal ecological footprint. Furthermore, this research analyzes the interdisciplinary interface between quantum computing, chemical engineering, and sustainable manufacturing, emphasizing how algorithmic innovation can support cleaner, more resource-efficient production ecosystems. Conceptual models were developed to illustrate the role of quantum optimization in guiding strategic decisions related to resource allocation, system design, and environmental trade-offs. The study concludes that quantum optimization will likely become a cornerstone of the digital and sustainable transformation of the chemical industry, facilitating intelligent automation and data-driven sustainability in the decades ahead.

Quantum-Inspired Computing Approaches for Complex Optimization Problems in Industrial Engineering

Arjun Sen, Hiba Rashid, Nikhil Joshi

Industrial engineering increasingly depends on solving large-scale optimization problems involving scheduling, routing, resource allocation, inventory control, energy management, and supply-chain coordination. Classical exact methods often become computationally expensive when problem size, uncertainty, and combinatorial complexity grow rapidly. Although practical quantum computers are still developing, quantum-inspired computing approaches have emerged as powerful alternatives that adapt principles from quantum mechanics to run on classical hardware. This paper investigates quantum-inspired computing approaches for complex optimization problems in industrial engineering. It examines methodologies including simulated annealing, tensor-network optimization, Ising formulations, quantum- inspired evolutionary algorithms, digital annealers, and hybrid classical-intelligent heuristics. Applications in production scheduling, facility layout, vehicle routing, maintenance planning, portfolio optimization, warehouse operations, and smart manufacturing are analyzed. Particular attention is given to solution quality, scalability, stochastic decision-making, real-time adaptability, and integration with Industry 4.0 data systems. Benefits include faster near-optimal solutions, improved operational efficiency, reduced energy consumption, and better responsiveness under uncertainty. Major challenges include formulation difficulty, parameter tuning, benchmarking inconsistency, interpretability, and transition barriers within traditional industrial workflows. A future roadmap is proposed involving hybrid quantum-classical ecosystems, AI- guided optimization engines, digital twins, and autonomous decision platforms. The paper concludes that quantum-inspired computing can deliver practical industrial value today by bridging the gap between conventional optimization and future quantum advantage, especially in environments where speed, flexibility, and complexity management are essential.
