Abstract

This paper discusses the application of quantum algorithms to the problem of op timizing resource allocation in agriculture. In particular, the possibility of using the Quantum Approximate Optimization Algorithm to solve this problem is investigated. This is a quantum optimization algorithm that can be effectively applied to combinato rial optimization problems. The work involves adapting the algorithm to the problem of optimizing resource allocation in agriculture, including modeling the optimization func tion and taking into account resource use constraints. It is assumed that the use of a quantum algorithm can offer new approaches to solving complex optimization problems in agriculture and contribute to increasing the efficiency of resource use and improving the sustainability of production.

Modeling the rational use of natural resources and innovative quantum technologies in agribusiness

Д.Т. Мухамедиева, Lola Safarova, Kudratov Alisher Toshpulatovich

The influence of quantum computing techniques on the optimization of resource allocation in the agricultural sector is analyzed. The use of variational quantum eigensolver (VQE) algorithm to achieve optimal resource allocation is explored. It has been found that production functions, such as the Cobb-Douglas function, effectively describe the transformation of input parameters into output. Parameterization of a quantum circuit and minimization of the expected value of the Hamiltonian to optimize resource allocation are studied. It is determined that the quantum optimization approach demonstrates improved computational efficiency compared to classical methods. It has been found that the integration of quantum technologies can significantly improve resource allocation in agriculture. An assumption has been made about increasing productivity and sustainability in the agricultural sector thanks to quantum methods. Further research on quantum algorithms is proposed to improve the efficiency of natural resource management. New software has been developed for modeling and optimizing production functions in agriculture. The use of quantum computing to solve complex problems in the agricultural sector is justified. A detailed description of the quantum algorithm and its benefits in the context of agriculture is presented.

Quantum Computing for Sustainable Agriculture: A Review and Conceptual Framework

Yue Wu, Attila Balázs Nagy, Ács Szilvia +2 more

Global challenges of food security, population growth, climate change and resource scarcity require increasingly urgent solutions. The emergence of quantum computing opens new opportunities for future agriculture, especially within the framework of the agriculture 5.0 vision. The study demonstrates how quantum algorithms and quantum simulations can be applied in key areas such as energy transfer in photosynthesis, increasing the efficiency of gene editing, designing protein structures, optimizing fertilizer production, and adapting to climate change. Through these applications, quantum technology can not only complement classical approaches in agri-informatics, but also open new dimensions towards sustainable, data-driven and intelligent food production. The aim of the thesis is to establish a functional framework that systematically maps the opportunities and benefits of integrating quantum technology into agriculture.

A Sustainable Quantum-Hybrid Platform for Crop Yield Prediction and Farm Resource Optimization

Sucharita V, Venkateswara Rao P, Srinivasa Rao D

Changes in Weather decrease in soil fertility, limited water resources and growing populations all are making agriculture harder. Even though precision agriculture uses traditional machine learning techniques, the majority of these approaches are unable to effectively handle the extremely complex and multidimensional data coming from crop genetics, weather systems, soil sensors, and satellite surveillance. In this regard, the current research presents a framework for intelligent agriculture that is based on quantum machine learning and quantum optimization. The system can represent and analyze the agricultural data far more efficiently than traditional computer methods by taking advantage of quantum phenomena like superposition and entanglement. Improved crop yield prediction and intelligent resource management via quantum-inspired optimization, particularly QAOA, are the two main objectives of the work. The model achieves accuracy values for yield estimates between 70 and 90%, according to simulation results, and it allows for real-time modification of fertilizer and irrigation. Lastly, it provides farmers with an easy-to-use dashboard to visualize insights. The current study provides a conceptual and technical foundation for quantum computing applications in agriculture in the near future, for more resource-efficient, data-driven, and sustainable farming, even though current quantum hardware is still in the development stage.

Quantum Computing and Instrumentation for Smart Sustainable Agriculture

Nagamani Prabu Arumugam, M.M. Karthikeyan, Keerthivasan Krishnamoorthy

The innovations of quantum computing, sophisticated tools, and artificial intelligence (AI) are changing the future of sustainable farming to present solutions to resource management, precise care, and environment monitoring of crops and animals. This section talks about how the application of quantum computing transforms agricultural data analysis, optimization, and simulation processes. It highlights that the integration of the IoT sensors, quantum-enhanced AI system models, and heterogeneous modeling methods makes it manageable and automates processes in the farms. The second portion of the chapter discusses the application of AI in crop prediction, identification of diseases and pests, examination of livestock DNA, and irrigation systems management. Despite some remaining hardware and integration problems, quantum–classical and multi-disciplinary science cooperation/collaboration will most likely lead to greater scalability, efficiency, and sustainability in agriculture. Adopting the most recent technologies in the agricultural production industry can increase production, reduce damage to the environment, and guarantee the availability of food as the global demands evolve.
