Abstract

The healthcare industry is undergoing a fundamental revolution with the integration of Quantum Natural Language Processing techniques for matching patient-clinical trials. This research envisions a paradigm where patients and clinical trials collaborate, changing the way healthcare is supplied and medical research is conducted. Apart from this, the research focuses on engaging patients in clinical trials. Patient involvement refers to the process by which patients and their healthcare providers collaborate to make decisions regarding their health. Within the framework of clinical studies, this may entail participants providing input on study designs or monitoring their data through wearable technology and smartphone apps. Quantum NLP has the potential to enhance patient outcomes and advance medical knowledge more quickly by enabling more precise and effective clinical trials. By setting the framework for future applications of quantum NLP, this study expands the conversation on the connection between quantum computing and healthcare.

The Role of Quantum Computing and AI in Enhancing Clinical Trial Matching Efficiency

Chandani Arora, Ramandeep Sandhu, Chander Prabha +3 more

Matching eligible patients to appropriate clinical trials remains a major challenge in healthcare due to large, heterogeneous datasets and complex eligibility criteria. This paper proposes a novel Quantum Machine Learning (QML) algorithm integrated with Natural Language Processing (NLP) techniques to optimize clinical trial matching. Unlike traditional methods, the proposed framework introduces a hybrid quantum–classical pseudocode workflow that combines quantum feature mapping with NLP-based data extraction to improve accuracy and efficiency in patient–trial matching. To strengthen the foundation of the proposed approach, key patented technologies, such as US20200005906A1 (intelligent patient–trial data matching) and US20220068443A1 (NLP-based eligibility interpretation), have been considered, demonstrating the growing feasibility of automated matching systems. The novelty of our work lies in unifying these advances within a scalable QML–NLP framework that reduces manual workload, shortens trial recruitment times, and improves overall research efficiency. By integrating quantum computing with NLP, this study moves beyond existing reviews and provides a concrete, implementable methodology to accelerate patient recruitment and advance personalized medicine.

Quantum-Enhanced Sentiment Analysis: Bridging NLP and Quantum Computing for Superior Text Classification

J Boopalamani, Pranav Raj S, Prasanna Kumar G

This research introduces a new paradigm for sentiment analysis on patient medication reviews through the application of quantum computing to improve machine learning models. A pre-existing dataset of medication reviews from the UCI Machine Learning repository was utilized, involving Quantum Natural Language Processing (QNLP) techniques, namely the application of quantum embeddings produced by quantum circuits to improve the performance of sentiment classification. Experimental findings indicate that improved models through quantum techniques, like the Quantum Random Forest, outperform conventional models in terms of accuracy and precision. These improvements are ascribed to quantum embeddings’ capacity to efficiently represent complex linguistic patterns in high-dimensional data. Additionally, the study uses robust validation techniques including performance benchmarking and cross-validation to guarantee reliability. Through a scalable and context-aware framework for natural language comprehension, this study highlights the revolutionary potential of QNLP in improving sentiment analysis in the healthcare industry.

At The Intersection of Medical Robotic Surgery and Drug Discovery with Quantum Computing

Classical natural language processing (NLP) has been successfully modeled and implemented to enable robots or chatbots to have some understanding of human languages and communication, but this has not been very effective to help the robots communicate effectively. Quantum computers introduce a multitude of new ways in which more highly complex and integrated robotics modeling and computations can be achieved, delivering finer control in robotics use cases with humans. As mentioned in articles “Genome assembly using quantum and quantum‑inspired annealing” “The pandemic highlighted the importance of and breadth of robotics applications, shining a light on a potential robotic future in healthcare, which we discuss here”, there is a lot more to explore in quantum computing. However, in this study, we will present how quantum robotics can help in developing superior surgical techniques where robots perform advanced medical surgeries, with a more sophisticated, faster, less intrusive process that achieves more successful patient outcomes in complex surgery processes that might otherwise take repeat surgeries with multiple human medical teams. This approach will include the use of quantum natural language processing (QNLP) [1,2]
