Abstract

Abstract Due to the limitation of quantum resources, direct synthesis of a multiqubit logic gate can significantly improve the efficiency of practical quantum information processing. In this article, an enhanced‐robustness gate scheme is proposed to implement three‐qubit controlled gates, i.e., and , by using resonant dipole–dipole exchange interaction‐induced adiabatic evolutions along with the dark state dynamics and super‐robust pulse sequences in Rydberg atoms. Such a gate scheme can execute arbitrary single‐qubit operations on the target qubit with pure geometric phase and is especially suitable for the case where the decoherence is not very obvious. Taking and as typical examples, various experimental imperfections are studied, including the Doppler effect, spontaneous emission of the intermediate state, laser phase noise, and fluctuations of interaction and external fields. Therefore, with the increasing demand for multiqubit gates, the proposal provides a more promising alternative for future fault‐tolerant and scalable quantum computation.

Rabi- and Blockade-Error-Resilient All-Geometric Rydberg Quantum Gates

Shi‐Lei Su, Li-Na Sun, Bao-Jie Liu +4 more

We propose a nontrivial two-qubit gate scheme in which Rydberg atoms are subject to designed pulses resulting from geometric evolution processes. By utilizing hybrid robust nonadiabatic and adiabatic geometric operations on the control atom and target atom, respectively, we improve the robustness of the two-qubit Rydberg gate against Rabi control errors as well as blockade errors in comparison with the conventional two-qubit blockade gate. Numerical results with the current state-of-the-art experimental parameters corroborates the above mentioned robustness. We also evaluate the influence induced by the motion-induced dephasing and the dipole-dipole interaction and imperfection-excitation-induced leakage errors, which both could decrease the gate fidelity. Our scheme provides a promising route towards systematic control error (Rabi error) as well as blockade-error-resilient geometric quantum computation on neutral atom system.

Multiple-qubit controlled unitary quantum gate for Rydberg atoms using shortcut to adiabaticity and optimized geometric quantum operations

Meng Li, F.-Q. Guo, Z. Jin +3 more

Multiple-qubit quantum logic gates are an important element in the implementation of quantum computers. The direct construction of multiple-qubit quantum logic gates in an efficient way has important values compared to the construction of multiple-qubit gates using a series of two-qubit and single-qubit gates. We propose a scheme to construct a multiple-qubit ${\mathrm{C}}_{k}\mathrm{U}$ gate ($k$ denotes the number of control qubits and U means the arbitrary universal operation performed on the target qubit) in a neutral atom platform through the Rydberg blockade effect by successively exciting them to Rydberg states. This scheme takes advantage of the shortcut to adiabaticity of inverse engineering, geometric quantum operations, as well as optimized control theory. The geometric quantum computation considered in this manuscript guarantees the robustness to operational errors. Meanwhile, inverse engineering-based shortcut to adiabaticity provides a further advantage in terms of the speed of the system evolution compared to adiabatic processes. An additional feature of our multiple-qubit quantum logic gate is that arbitrary operation on the target atom can be realized by adjusting the amplitude and phase of the laser fields. Numerical simulation of the master equation based on the full Hamiltonian demonstrates the high fidelity of the proposed scheme and its robustness to operational errors and spontaneous emission.

Resilient quantum gates on periodically driven Rydberg atoms

Jin‐Lei Wu, Yan Wang, Jin‐Xuan Han +4 more

Fault-tolerant implementation of quantum gates is one of preconditions for realizing quantum computation. The platform of Rydberg atoms is one of the most promising candidates for achieving quantum computation. We propose to implement a controlled-$Z$ gate on Rydberg atoms where an amplitude-modulated field is employed to induce Rydberg antiblockade. Gate robustness against the fluctuations in the Rydberg-Rydberg interaction can be largely enhanced by adjusting amplitude-modulated field. Furthermore, we introduce a Landau-Zener-St\"uckelberg transition on the target atom so as to improve the gate resilience to the deviation in the gate time and the drift in the pulse amplitude. With feasible experimental parameters, one can achieve the gate with low fidelity errors caused by atomic decay, interatomic dipole-dipole force, and Doppler effects. Finally, we generalize the gate scheme into multiqubit cases, where resilient multiqubit phase gates can be obtained in one step with an unchanged gate time as the number of qubits increases.

Multiple‐Qubit CkUm Logic Gates of Rydberg Atoms via Optimized Geometric Quantum Operations

Meng Li, Jing‐Yang Li, F.-Q. Guo +6 more

Abstract Multiple‐qubit logic gates, as an essential part of quantum logic gates, have wide practical application in quantum computation. Here, a scheme to directly construct a multiple‐qubit logic gate , in which k control atoms apply an universal operation U on each of m target qubits in the Rydberg atom system is proposed. The scheme, based on Rydberg blockade and geometric quantum operations as well as optimized control theory, can greatly reduce the qubit number and the operation steps, improving the speed and robustness of the gating compared to the conventional multiple‐qubit gates consisting of single‐ and two‐qubit gates. Taking the C2U2 gate as an example, the performance of the proposal is numerically evaluated in terms of the fidelity of the quantum gate as well as the robustness against the static systematic errors and spontaneous emission. This work may provide a significative reference for constructing universal multiple‐qubit logic gates in future Rydberg atom experiments.

Geometric Rydberg quantum gate with shortcuts to adiabaticity

Kai-Yu Liao, Xiao-Hong Liu, Zhi Li +1 more

We propose a controlled-PHASE gate for neutral atoms in which one of the qubit state components adiabatically evolves along the multiple-atom eigenstate formed by the chirped laser pulse coupling to Rydberg states and intrinsic dipole-dipole exchange interactions and, consequently, accumulates an interaction-induced geometric phase. The geometric Rydberg gate is not limited by an adiabatic condition, which is sped up by shortcuts to adiabaticity (STA). Analyses show that an STA scheme is more robust than a non-adiabatic case against the variations of control parameters and faster than an adiabatic case, which protects from the decay of Rydberg states. Furthermore, an intermediate value of dipole-dipole interaction strength is enough for our scheme.

Robust three-qubit search algorithm in Rydberg atoms via geometric control

Bingbing Liu, Zheng Shan, M.-R. Yun +5 more

Rydberg atoms possess long coherence time and inherent scalability, which makes it promising to implement quantum algorithms. An exact and robust quantum search algorithm (SA) is essential to some practical applications. Here we propose a multisolution three-qubit SA by employing quantum circuit and geometric operations, in which the target states can be successfully searched with the fidelity of at least 99.8$%$ and the geometric operators guarantee robustness against systematic errors. In particular, the geometric three-qubit gate operators employed reduce the implementation time and help to resist against the detrimental influence of decoherence. Moreover, our scheme can be straightforwardly extended to multiqubit cases. We have carried out numerical simulations based on the master equation to illustrate the superiority of our scheme. We consider that our study provides an alternative method for executing quantum SAs with high success probability.
