Quantum Machine Learning

Santanu Pattanayak

In this chapter and the next one, we will explore the exciting areas of quantum machine learning and quantum deep learning. Machine learning and deep learning have seen great success in recent years because of the increase in the computational power at our disposal and because of the high-end research in these fields. Quantum machine learning presents an exciting opportunity to increase the computational efficiency of the existing machine learning algorithms as well as presents a way to tackle some of the more computationally intractable problems. In this chapter, we start with the Harrow-Hassidim-Lloyd algorithm, popularly known as HHL, which acts as the matrix inversion routine in the quantum computing domain. Hence, HHL will be the default choice for algorithms such as linear regression and least square support vector machines. Subsequently, we touch upon quantum linear regression and support vector machines in detail in this chapter. We will then move on to implementing quantum routines such as quantum dot product and quantum Euclidean distances since they are integral to several machine learning algorithms such as the k-means clustering and nearest neighbor methods. In this regard, we will implement the k-means clustering method in detail. Also, we will discuss how Grover’s algorithm can be used to optimize quantum objectives by illustrating its usage in the cluster assignment in the k-means algorithm. Principal component analysis is an important machine learning technique, and we will walk through its quantum implementation in great detail as well.

Feature Selection Analysis Using Quantum Machine Learning

K. Dinesh, S. Zuveriya, S. Rihaka +2 more

Feature extraction is the key in machine learning, which will affect the accuracy and efficiency of model. Due to the increasing complexity of the data, classical algorithms are often not powerful anymore. We introduce an approach combining QML with optimization algorithms to improve feature learning, using the computational power of quantum computers. Quantum Machine Learning (QML) is a new multidisciplinary field that integrates machine learning with quantum computing. on how quantum algorithms can enhance Machine Learning activities, such as Dimensionality reduction and optimization. In this paper we study the hybrid binary quantum-optimization algorithm and how optimization with quantum advantages can bring more efficient and robust feature extraction when used in conjunction with machine learning tasks. This Study also explores the use of hybrid binary quantum optimization methods for feature extraction.

Quantum Machine Learning Algorithms for Optimization Problems: Theory, Implementation, and Applications

Dattatray Raghunath Kale

Quantum computing has the potential to transform a number of industries, including machine learning and optimization. This work investigates the relationship between quantum computing and machine learning, with particular attention on the creation, use, and applications of quantum machine learning algorithms for optimization issues. We present a thorough analysis of the theoretical foundation of quantum optimization algorithms, talk about how they are practically implemented on quantum computing platforms, and investigate real-world applications in a several fields. We also highlight upcoming research directions and issues in the realm of quantum machine learning.
