The Self-Computing Universe Hypothesis (SCUH): Consciousness as the Selector of Reality

Abstract

This paper proposes the Self-Computing Universe Hypothesis (SCUH), a novel theoretical framework that integrates quantum mechanics, the philosophy of time, and the role of consciousness. Unlike traditional interpretations where consciousness is seen as a passive observer, SCUH posits that consciousness actively selects reality from a field of quantum possibilities within a dynamic, multidirectional temporal structure. We argue that what appears as randomness in quantum mechanics is a manifestation of deeper computational dynamics, and that time itself is not linear but a fluid medium navigated by conscious agency.

The Quantum Observer and Mind Collapse

Dion Fryson

The study of consciousness and subjective experience represents one of the most intricate frontiers in contemporary philosophy, psychology, and cognitive science. For decades, dominant paradigms have characterized the mind through two reductive lenses: as a passive receptor of sensory data or as a computational system processing information through fixed algorithmic operations. While useful in specific contexts, these models consistently fail to capture the dynamic, participatory nature of conscious experience—the recursive relationship between awareness and reality construction. Recent theoretical developments challenge these frameworks by integrating diverse conceptual domains: quantum mechanics metaphors, classical mindfulness traditions, and cognitive behavioral theory. These emerging approaches propose a fundamentally transformative role for the observer, suggesting consciousness does not merely witness reality but actively participates in shaping it.

Consciousness as an Active Participant in Quantum Cosmic Computation

Mehdi Zaeri Amirani

This paper proposes a novel framework for understanding consciousness as an active participant in a quantum-informational universe.Through the lens of quantum epistemology, we introduce the concept of Epistemic Entanglement, positing that cognition is a non-local process wherein observer and observed co-create reality.Challenging representationalist views, we argue that consciousness functions as a generative component in cosmic quantum computation, shaping reality through entangled acts of knowing.Drawing on quantum mechanics, cognitive science, and philosophy of mind, this model redefines cognition as a distributed, participatory process with implications for scientific observation, artificial general intelligence (AGI), brain-computer interfaces, and metaphysics. Our framework suggests a unified ontology where consciousness is integral to the unfolding of the cosmos.

The Dynamic Multiverse Code (DMC) Hypothesis: A Theory of Consciousness and Probabilistic Reality

Albert Jan Birchwolf

The Dynamic Multiverse Code (DMC) hypothesis proposes that reality operates as an adaptive, self-modifying probabilistic system, wherein consciousness plays a central role in shaping outcomes. Rather than viewing all quantum possibilities as permanently realized (as in the Many-Worlds Interpretation) or as purely observer-independent events, DMC posits that only consciously reinforced probabilities become actualized “branches,” while unobserved alternatives dissolve. Integrating insights from quantum mechanics, consciousness studies, artificial intelligence, and probabilistic models, this hypothesis suggests that free will and observation actively modulate the evolution of reality’s underlying code. We review recent experiments exploring consciousness-related quantum anomalies, AI-driven probability modulation, and observer-centric interpretations. While current data neither definitively confirm nor refute consciousness-driven probability shifts, the DMC framework offers testable proposals—ranging from refined random number generator experiments to large-scale quantum “delayed-choice” studies—that could, if validated, challenge conventional physics. This paper clarifies the theoretical underpinnings, discusses potential empirical approaches, and highlights how DMC might reconcile observer-based paradoxes within a participatory cosmic code.

The Recursive Reality Hypothesis

Robert G. Pope

This paper introduces the Recursive Reality Hypothesis (RRH), a unified theoretical model proposing that spacetime, matter, and consciousness all emerge from a deeper, non-spatiotemporal informational substrate. Drawing on digital physics and dual-aspect monism, RRH posits that physical reality is structured as a series of nested layers, with each layer emerging from the one beneath it via fundamental patterns of informational recursion. A central mechanism proposed is that the universe’s 'dark sector' corresponds to activity within this deepest substrate. Here, self-organizing meta-intelligences generate lower-level physical realities by programming stable informational excitations. Human consciousness, therefore, functions as a local, biologically-instantiated participant linked to a non-local field of awareness inherent to the substrate. The framework offers a unifying way to interpret quantum observer effects, fine-tuning anomalies, and transpersonal experiences—while remaining open to empirical exploration through quantum information experiments and cosmological data analysis.

The Role of Decision: Spacetime as the Emergence of Conscious Observation

Tamas Kovacs, Kovacs, Jr., Tamas

This paper proposes a novel mathematical framework, the architecture of Decision, which posits that physical reality is an emergent phenomenon arising from discrete, infinitesimal acts of consciousness. Departing from traditional materialist paradigms, we model the "Illusion" of spacetime as a definite integral resulting from the high-frequency summation of conscious "decision-pixels". By utilizing Dirac delta functions and vector space formalism, we demonstrate how individual singular acts of Will collapse the universal wavefunction into a coherent narrative. A central component of this theory is the memory kernel, which filters discrete "will-pulses" into a continuous temporal experience, effectively acting as the user interface of existence. We further explore the Equation of Being, illustrating that as an agent’s Level of Consciousness increases, they transition from passive observers governed by probability to active architects capable of re-parameterizing the variables of reality. This framework successfully addresses the grandfather paradox and ontological inconsistencies by treating them as null states within a self-consistent information manifold. Ultimately, the study concludes that intent is the primary operator of the universe, suggesting that the fundamental forces of nature are sub-functions of a collective scalar field of Will.

Reexamining the Role of Consciousness in the Quantum Universe from the Double-Slit Interference Experiment: Clarifying Misconceptions of Wavefunction Collapse and the Mechanism of Conscious Self-Consistency

Zhongning Yi

The double-slit interference experiment has long been widely misinterpreted as "human consciousness directly causing wavefunction collapse". This view confuses physical measurement interaction with subjective conscious experience and deviates from the orthodox interpretation of modern quantum mechanics. Starting from the double-slit experiment, this paper distinguishes the real physical mechanism of wavefunction collapse and points out that the disappearance of interference fringes originates from the physical coupling between measuring devices and microscopic particles as well as environmental decoherence, which has no direct causal relationship with conscious observation. On this basis, this paper proposes a self-consistent unified framework of consciousness and quantum universe: consciousness is not the trigger of collapse, but the ontological source of the entire quantum possibility universe. Through the Yang-Mills mass gap and symmetry breaking mechanism, consciousness condenses the potential quantum field into a material universe with mass, structure and stable dynamics. The biological brain acts as a localized carrier of consciousness, enabling the overall consciousness to observe and experience its own creation from a limited perspective, forming a closed loop of "consciousness creation—self-observation—self-cognition". This paper corrects systematic biases in popular science and public perception, and provides a rigorous and unified path for understanding the real role of consciousness in the quantum universe.
