Beyond Quantum Hype-Building

Muhammad Usman Tariq

Quantum computing seems to be an exciting topic to discuss as a technology that might facilitate substantial shifts in the industry and contribute to the improvement of the healthcare sector. While quantum technology might be useful in resolving many significant challenges in the future, it does not have any value in practical applications as long as it fails to provide practical, verified, and relevant applications in healthcare. Thus, the purpose of this study is to discuss the application of hybrid approaches that combine quantum and conventional computing solutions for smart healthcare. In this study, we analyzed the application possibilities, challenges, and opportunities of introducing hybrid technologies to improve various healthcare operations. As mentioned above, the use of quantum approaches might facilitate substantial changes within the industry and provide many opportunities; however, their feasibility will depend on whether the solutions become practical.
