Abstract

This paper examines the secure performance of a composite Rayleigh-gamma fading channel when an eavesdropper is present in the channel. The aim of this work is to investigate the effect of gamma shadowing incorporating Rayleigh fading for the analysis of security in wireless communication networks in terms of probability of non-zero secrecy capacity (PNZSC) and secure outage probability (SOP). The analysis demonstrates that the shadowing effect substantially improves the security of the proposed model. Furthermore, Monte-Carlo simulations are carried out to confirm the accuracy of the theoretical findings.

Secrecy Performance Analysis over Inverse Gamma Composite Multicast Fading Channels

Abdulkarim Al Hanif, A. S. M. Badrudduza, Md. Shakhawat Hossen +2 more

Secrecy performance of realistic wireless multicast scenarios are significantly deteriorated by simultaneous occurrence of multipath and shadowing which are modeled using composite fading channels. To resolve this security threat, in this paper a framework is proposed where a source transmits private multicast messages to multiple receivers over η - μ / inverse gamma composite fading channels. A group of eavesdroppers are trying to overhear this secret communication. Perfect secrecy is obtained if eavesdropper can not decode any information from the multicast links. Secrecy analysis is carried out deriving closed-form expressions of two well-known secrecy measures i.e. probability of non-zero secrecy capacity and secure outage probability for multicasting. The impacts of multipath, shadowing and other system parameters on the outage performance of the proposed scenario are quantified using the derived expressions. A generic nature of η - μ / inverse gamma distribution is obtained by showing Rayleigh, Nakagami-m, Nakagami-q, η - μ fading and Gaussian channels as a special case of this distribution. Finally, Monte-Carlo simulations are presented to verify the derived expressions.

Secrecy Outage Performance Analysis over Composite Gamma-Shadowed Two-Ray with Diffuse Power Fading Channels

Pamela Njemčević, Almir Marić

In this paper, we analyze the secrecy outage performance of the classical Wyner’s model, where both the legitimate receiver and the eavesdropper experience gamma-shadowed two-wave with diffuse power (GS-TWDP) composite fading. We derive expressions for the lower bound of the secrecy outage probability (SOP) and the probability of strictly positive secrecy capacity (SPSC) in terms of Meijer’s G-function, which can be efficiently implemented in MATLAB® and MATHEMATICA®. The derived expressions are validated through Monte Carlo simulations and used to perform detailed analysis of the impact of shadowing and multipath severity on secrecy outage performance in channels with composite fading.

Evaluating Physical Layer Security in Dual-Hop Relay Networks over Composite Rayleigh-Gamma Fading Channels

Md. Najib Ibrahim, Md. Zahurul I. Sarkar, Md. Abdur Rakib

With the growing importance of security in advanced communication systems, researchers are exploring innovative strategies to enhance the performance of next-generation wireless networks. This paper proposes a relay-based dual-hop network operating over composite Rayleigh-Gamma fading channels, designed to enhance security against eavesdropping attacks. We derive novel analytical expressions for the secrecy outage probability in terms of Meijer’s G and Fox’s H functions to evaluate the secrecy performance. To validate the analytical results, Monte Carlo simulation is performed. The numerical analysis demonstrates that system security improves significantly with higher fading parameters and reduced path loss in the main communication channel. However, the system’s vulnerability increases as the fading parameter of the eavesdropping channel grows, highlighting the critical interplay between channel conditions and security performance.

On the Enhancement of Secrecy Multicast Capacity over Κ - μ/IG Composite Fading Channel

Md. Shakhawat Hossen, A. S. M. Badrudduza, Abu Hanif +3 more

The confidentiality of wireless multicast network is notably compromised by the concurrent existence of shadowing and fading. To overcome this security threat, mathematical modeling of a multicast scenario is proposed in this paper over κ-μ/ inverse gamma (IG) composite fading channel where transmitted confidential information from source is under malicious attack of multiple eavesdroppers. The well-known physical layer security approach is adopted to analyze the impact of system parameters on secrecy performance in terms of novel expressions of secure outage probability for multicasting, probability of nonzero secrecy multicast capacity and ergodic secrecy multicast capacity. The generalization of security analysis is achieved by demonstrating Rayleigh, Rician, Nakagami-m, κ-μ fading and Gaussian channels as a special scenarios of κ-μ/IG distribution. At the end, analytical results are justified by performing Monte-Carlo Simulations.

Secure Wireless Multicasting Over Generalized Gamma Fading Channels

S. M. S. Shahriyer, A. S. M. Badrudduza, M. A. A. Masrur +2 more

The issue of wireless security in Generalized gamma fading is considered in this paper with multiple eavesdropper present in the system. The analysis of security is performed based on the investigation of the parametric effects of Generalized gamma fading channel. The expressions for the measures of the security such as probability of positive secrecy capacity and the secure outage probability are derived in closed-form to facilitate the investigation of that parametric effects. Our results illustrates that the analysis of security in Generalized gamma fading channels introduces a conclusion about the effects of fading parameters in the security of Weibull, Rayleigh and Nakagami-m fading channels. Finally, the analytical results are verified via Monte-Carlo simulation.

Security in Nakagami- m Fading Channel with Log-normal Shadowing

T. Kumer, M. Z. I. Sarkar, Dilip Kumar Sarker

In this paper, a confidential communication scenario is considered through composite Nakagami-m fading channel with log-normal shadowing in which a source communicates with a destination in the presence of an eavesdropper. Our study is concerned with the analysis of secrecy capacity and secure outage performance of Nakagami-m fading channel with shadowing. The performance of the proposed model is analyzed based on the closed-form expressions of the ergodic secrecy capacity, the probability of non-zero secrecy capacity and the secure outage probability using the Gauss-Hermite quadrature integration formula. Analytical results show that the shadowing effect significantly enhances the ergodic secrecy capacity of the proposed model.
