Abstract

Bound states in one-dimensional finite and infinite wells and delta-function potentials, and combinations of these, are obtained; the WKB method for bound states is introduced; the consequences of a parity-invariant potential for the eigenfunctions are derived.

Scattering in One Dimension

Rocco Schiavilla

Scattering in one dimension is discussed in terms of wave packets; reflection, transmission, and tunneling probabilities are defined; the WKB method to calculate these probabilities is introduced; the S-matrix for scattering in one dimension is defined; the phase-shift method for one-dimensional parity-invariant potentials is introduced; applications to various combinations of finite and infinite barriers with delta-function potentials are examined.

Solutions of the Schrödinger equation for Dirac delta decorated linear potential

Haydar Uncu, Hakan Erkol, Ersan Demiralp +1 more

Abstract We have studied bound states of the Schrödinger equation for a linear potential together with any finite number (P) of Dirac delta functions. Forx where 0f; 0x 1x 2x P , theσ i are arbitrary real numbers, and the potential is infinite forx

The numerical methods and graphical displays of the particles bound in one-dimensional square potential wells

LI Da-nong

With the numerical methods and graphical displays, the energy levels and normalized wave functions are given for the particle in one-dimensional asymmetrical finite potential wells. The results are accordant with those of infinite wells when the potential tends to infinite.

Criteria for bound-state solutions in quantum mechanics

Carl A. Kocher

When does the Schrödinger equation have bound-state solutions? This question is pursued by a variational method with simple trial wave functions. An arbitrary one- or two-dimensional attractive potential is shown to have at least one discrete energy level, and estimates of the binding energy are obtained for shallow potential wells. In other problems, sufficient conditions are established for the existence of bound states.

The normalized wave functions of the particles bound in one-dimensional square potential wells

Xiaomei Wang

Till now no book has given the normalized wave functions for the particle freely moving in a one-dimensional finite potential well. This paper acquires the normalized wave functions of one-dimensional symmetric and asymmetric wells with finite potentials. The results are in accord with those of infinite wells when the potentials tends to infinite.
