Abstract

The intersection of Quantum Computing and Artificial Intelligence (AI) signifies a moment in the advancement of computing technologies. While both technologies have individually made progress in their respective domains their combination is poised to redefine the limits of computational capabilities. This piece delves into the merger of quantum computing with AI promising not only to boost computational speeds but also to tackle intricate problems that current classical computing methods struggle to solve. We will explore how this integration is anticipated to drive progress across various sectors such as healthcare, potentially enabling quicker and more precise diagnostic systems; finance, capable of transforming risk evaluation and fraud detection; and cybersecurity, presenting opportunities for unbreakable encryption. The conversation extends to the effects on drug discovery, climate prediction and artificial general intelligence envisioning a future where quantum technologies exponentially enhance AIs capabilities. This summary sets the stage for an examination of how the amalgamation of quantum computing and AI could herald an era of technological innovation fundamentally reshaping our problem-solving approaches, for some of society’s most urgent issues. Quantum computing and artificial intelligence (AI) individually create massive waves in the oceans of technological innovation; however, when these two revolutionary powerhouses are combined, they have the potential to transform industries on a global scale. Quantum computing and AI are merging to redefine high-fidelity decision-making, combining raw processing power (“ultra-compute”) with adaptive intelligence (“ultra-learn”). This synergy unlocks unprecedented capabilities for solving complex problems beyond classical computing's reach. This capability to leverage quantum algorithms enables AI systems to handle easily larger and more sophisticated datasets, executing calculations at unprecedented speeds in the history of science. This leads to new configurations for machine learning, optimization, big data analysis, and more. Integrating these two modern fields must provide a means to circumvent many classical computing constraints, addressing the most challenging issues in medicine, finance, and cybersecurity. In particular, these foundational concepts are vital for any discussions regarding the convergence of quantum computing and AI or similar applications. As we embark on a new technological era, overcoming known computational barriers through the combination of quantum computing and AI models will be essential to achieving those technological milestones that will define our future. After all, innovation driven by AI applied to technology ensures progress.

Quantum computing meets cloud AI: A new era of intelligent computing

Dhruvitkumar V. Talati

Quantum computing is poised to revolutionize the field of artificial intelligence and cloud computing. Recent technological advancements have led to several challenges in modern computing, where conventional systems struggle to efficiently solve complex problems such as complicated chemical structures, supply chains, financial modeling, and risk evaluation [1]. Quantum computing, with its unique ability to harness the principles of quantum mechanics, offers a promising solution to these challenges. Moreover, the emergence of cloud-based quantum computing services is democratizing this transformative technology, allowing startups and researchers to experiment with quantum algorithms without the need for their own quantum hardware. [2] This research paper explores the convergence of quantum computing and cloud-based artificial intelligence, highlighting the potential for a new era of intelligent computing that can tackle complex problems with unprecedented speed and efficiency. The recent demonstration of quantum supremacy, where a quantum computer outperformed a classical computer in a specific task, has been a significant milestone in the field of quantum computing. However, there is still much progress to be made on the road to solving real-world problems with quantum computers and achieving quantum advantage. While the field of quantum computing is still in its early stages, the anticipated opportunities offered by the unique computational power of quantum computers have attracted investment from research universities, technology giants, startups, and governments around the world. As the field continues to advance, the synergy between quantum computing and cloud-based artificial intelligence is poised to usher in a new era of intelligent computing, where complex problems can be solved with unprecedented speed and efficiency.

Introduction to Quantum Computing and Artificial Intelligence

Gursewak Singh, Nimisha Singh, Ramandeep Sandhu +2 more

Quantum Artificial Intelligence (QAI) combines quantum computing with artificial intelligence (AI) to surpass the traditional barriers of classical computing systems, such as their inability to solve large-scale optimization problems or simulate complex quantum systems, which require exponentially increasing computational resources. Quantum computing, on the other hand, makes use of quantum mechanical phenomena of superposition, entanglement, and interference to process millions of data points in parallel, avoiding the exponential computation needed in many complex problems. QAI combines principles of quantum computing with AI techniques, thereby accelerating model learning. Some of the most notable applications include drug discovery in terms of exact predictions of molecular interactions, due to the enhancement of quantum simulations. There are cryptographic applications where QAI challenges classical encryption but also contains more advanced, non-breakable quantum cryptographic methods. In the same way as general advances in the field of data analysis and optimization, these domains would change: financial modeling, cybersecurity, and climate science. The biggest challenges remaining in scaling quantum hardware are noise and decoherence. Solutions will require major advances in quantum error correction, along with hybrid quantum-classical systems integrating the strengths of each. At this point, added to the list of critical concerns in the development of QAI are ethical considerations such as data privacy, algorithmic bias, and transparency. But all this notwithstanding, QAI has the transformative potential to solve problems that classical AI was unable to solve and drive innovation in domains ranging from healthcare and environmental science to cryptography and beyond. Unlocking its full capabilities and overcoming the resultant technical and ethical challenges is by way of further research and collaboration.

Vanessa García Pineda, Alejandro Valencia-Arías, Francisco Eugenio López Giraldo +1 more

Quantum Computing (QC) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) have emerged as key technologies in the evolution of Industry 6.0, driving advancements in automation and advanced analytics, and process optimization. Their integration holds the potential to revolutionize sectors such as data science, healthcare, finance, and cybersecurity by enabling faster and more efficient computations through qubits, superposition, and quantum entanglement. However, the lack of structured knowledge regarding specific QC methodologies and applications in AI hinders its optimal implementation and development. Consequently, this study aims to identify the applications and variables associated with QC-AI integration. To this end, a systematic literature review was conducted following the PRISMA 2020 methodology, drawing on studies from Scopus and Web of Science databases. This enabled the analysis of trends, limitations, and opportunities in this technological convergence. This study aims to systematically examine the intersection of quantum computing and artificial intelligence by identifying the key technological features, integration requirements, and sectoral applications that define the current state of the field. The review contributes by mapping existing research, highlighting methodological approaches, and revealing gaps that may guide targeted advancements in hybrid quantum AI systems. The insights generated have the potential to accelerate innovation in high-impact domains such as healthcare, finance, energy, and cybersecurity. The findings indicate that the main advances in QC applied to AI focus on quantum optimization, Quantum Machine Learning (QML), and post-quantum cryptography. Notably, sectors such as energy, healthcare, and finance have shown significant progress in adopting these technologies. For example, in healthcare, QML has been applied to simulate molecular interactions to accelerate drug discovery, and in finance, it enhances predictive models for market behavior. The study concludes that although QC demonstrates substantial potential to enhance AI, its broader adoption remains constrained by reliance on NISQ hardware, the need for effective error correction, and the limited scalability of hybrid quantum classical algorithms.
