Abstract

Due to the evolving nature of cyber threats, adequate protection of CI environments, a crucial component of the modern DevOps pipeline, remains an essential problem. Quantum cryptography, based on the principles of quantum mechanics, seems to provide a solution to improve the security of data transmissions in these contexts. This paper analyses QKD's suitability for establishing secure communication protocols in CI systems. By illustrating simulation reports and real-life examples, this paper shows how quantum cryptographic approaches can help avoid threats related to traditional encryption algorithms. Leveraging quantum-safe cryptographic solutions to fill the existing security loopholes is a solution to modern cyber threats. However, problems like implementation costs, technological barriers, and performance decline as the number of users increases are other barriers that need to be addressed to see the full potential of quantum cryptography in CI environments. The paper ends with tactical conclusions regarding creating secure CI settings with QE to further examine and implement in cybersecurity.

Quantum Cryptography in Modern Cybersecurity

Md Shariar Sozol, Md Mostafizur Rahman, Md Minhazul Islam +1 more

This article tends to deal with the fast-evolving world of quantum cryptography, specifically the concept of quantum key distribution (QKD), which has significant importance in modern-day cybersecurity scenarios. The most notable feature of quantum cryptography is its ability to ensure safe communication through principles borrowed from quantum mechanics such as entanglement and superposition. The research comprehensively analyses discrete-variable protocols (DVQKD) and continuous-variable ones (CVQKD), closely investigating their potential roles as re-inventors of secure communications owing to increasing cyber threats. In principle, quantum cryptography is invulnerable to all forms of attacks; however, there are numerous challenges to its implementation including high deployment costs, technology limitations and complex integration with existing systems for protecting data. This paper presents an elaborate state of today's quantum cryptography capturing its advancements, active research efforts as well as barriers towards increased use in build systems based on resistance against attacks utilizing properties specific to quantum mechanics. Key Words: Quantum Key Distribution (QKD), Post – Quantum Cryptography (PQC), Discrete-Variable (DVQKD) and Continuous-Variable (CVQKD), Quantum Superposition, Crypto-Attacks.

Quantum cryptography and cybersecurity in healthcare data

Deepika Bhatia, Tanya Singh, Harsh Bhasin

Using quantum cryptography can significantly support cybersecurity in healthcare, paving the way for safer digital environments. As the sector evolves, ongoing research and innovation in quantum technologies will be essential for ensuring the confidentiality and integrity of patient information, ultimately enhancing the quality of care delivered in an increasingly interconnected world. The chapter explores the evolution of quantum cryptography to strengthen cybersecurity in the healthcare sector. As reliance on digital technology increases, protecting sensitive patient information becomes more important. Quantum cryptography offers a new way to create secure communication using the principles of quantum mechanics. These briefs highlight the critical need for security measures that can prevent devastating cyber threats. The second section describes the role of quantum algorithms, particularly quantum key distribution (QKD) and quantum-resistant algorithms. QKD allows encryption keys to be exchanged securely, ensuring that any eavesdropping attempts are detected, thus preserving the integrity of communications. Quantum-resistant algorithms have also been designed to prevent quantum computer attacks that could compromise cryptographic systems. By integrating these technologies, healthcare organizations can reduce the negative impacts associated with traditional processes and protect patient information from unauthorized access to interventions and research reports. As these technologies continue to mature, their integration with healthcare systems provides an opportunity to build trust and cost-effectiveness in these digital health solutions. This integration not only increases data security but also supports the development of AI applications that can analyze large amounts of medical data. The digital environment is more secure. As the industry evolves, continued research and innovation in quantum technology will be necessary to ensure the confidentiality and integrity of patient data and ultimately improve the quality of care in an ever-changing world.

Quantum Cryptography in Telecommunication Systems: Securing Data Transmission Against Emerging Cyber Threats

The exponential growth of global telecommunication networks has heightened the need for robust security frameworks to protect data transmission against evolving cyber threats.Traditional encryption techniques, such as RSA and AES, while effective, are increasingly vulnerable to advances in computational power and the impending threat posed by quantum computing.Quantum cryptography, specifically Quantum Key Distribution (QKD), presents a revolutionary approach to securing telecommunication systems by leveraging the fundamental principles of quantum mechanics.Unlike classical encryption methods, QKD guarantees data security through the use of quantum states that are inherently resistant to interception and eavesdropping due to the no-cloning theorem and Heisenberg's uncertainty principle. From a broader perspective, this paper explores the integration of quantum cryptographic protocols into existing telecommunication infrastructures, emphasizing their potential to safeguard data transmission in fiber-optic and satellite communication networks. It examines the architecture and operational mechanisms of QKD systems, detailing protocols such as BB84 and E91, and evaluates their effectiveness in countering both classical and quantum-enabled cyber-attacks.Additionally, the study delves into the challenges of large-scale deployment, including key distribution range limitations, hardware requirements, and the need for quantum repeaters to support long-distance secure communication.Narrowing the focus, case studies on the implementation of quantum cryptography in 5G networks and global telecommunication hubs are analysed, highlighting their role in enhancing network resilience and ensuring end-to-end encryption. The paper concludes with strategic recommendations for policy development, international standardization, and future research directions to facilitate the widespread adoption of quantum cryptography in the telecommunications sector.
