Natural Thermal and Magnetic Entanglement in the 1D Heisenberg Model

M. C. Arnesen, Sougato Bose, Vlatko Vedral

We investigate the entanglement between any two spins in a one dimensional Heisenberg chain as a function of temperature and the external magnetic field. We find that the entanglement in an antiferromagnetic chain can be increased by increasing the temperature or the external field. Increasing the field can also create entanglement between otherwise disentangled spins. This entanglement can be confirmed by testing Bell's inequalities involving any two spins in the solid.

Magnetic properties of the spin‐1/2 Ising–Heisenberg diamond chain with the four‐spin interaction

Lucia Gálisová

Abstract A symmetric spin‐1/2 Ising–Heisenberg diamond chain with the Ising four‐spin interaction is exactly solved by means of the generalized decoration‐iteration mapping transformation. The ground state, the magnetization process and thermodynamics are particularly examined for the case of antiferromagnetic pair interactions (Ising and isotropic Heisenberg ones). It is shown that an interplay between pair interactions, the four‐spin interaction and the external magnetic field gives rise to several quantum ground states with entangled spin states in addition to some semi‐classically ordered ones. Besides, the temperature dependence of the magnetic susceptibility multiplied by the temperature is studied and the interesting triple‐peak specific heat curve is also detected when considering the zero‐field region rather close to the triple point, where three different ground states coexist.

Anisotropy and Magnetic Field Effects on the Entanglement of a Two Qubit Heisenberg XY Chain

G. Lagmago Kamta, Anthony F. Starace

We investigate the entanglement of a two-qubit anisotropic Heisenberg XY chain in thermal equilibrium at temperature T in the presence of an external magnetic field B along the z axis. By means of the combined influences of anisotropic interactions and a magnetic field B, one is able to produce entanglement for any finite T, by adjusting the magnetic field strength. This contrasts with the isotropic interaction or the B = 0 cases, for which there is no entanglement above a critical temperature T(c) that is independent of the external B field.
