This paper explores the convergence of quantum computing and artificial intelligence (AI), examining how their integration may redefine computational paradigms. Quantum computing, with its unique properties of superposition and entanglement, has the potential to exponentially accelerate AI processes, particularly in optimization, machine learning, and data analysis. We investigate quantum algorithms, such as the quantum Fourier transform and Grover’s algorithm, highlighting their application to AI models and machine learning tasks that require vast computational resources. The paper further delves into hybrid quantum-classical approaches, which leverage the strengths of both domains to address real-world problems. Challenges, such as quantum error correction, scalability, and the need for specialized hardware, are also discussed. We provide an analysis of ongoing advancements in quantum AI, including quantum-enhanced neural networks and reinforcement learning, and their implications for fields like natural language processing and predictive analytics. This research emphasizes the transformative potential of quantum AI while acknowledging the significant technical hurdles that remain. The integration of quantum computing and AI promises to unlock unprecedented computational capabilities, paving the way for breakthroughs in scientific research, industry applications, and complex problem-solving.
The convergence of quantum computing and artificial intelligence presents profound opportunities but faces significant hurdles, particularly in the Noisy Intermediate-Scale Quantum (NISQ) era. Quantum Machine Learning (QML) algorithms, while promising, exhibit sensitivity to noise and scalability challenges, hindering the demonstration of practical quantum advantage. Concurrently, Quantum Error Correction (QEC), essential for fault tolerance, imposes substantial resource overheads and is often developed generically, without specific adaptation to the target application's error sensitivity. This paper reviews the current state of the intersection of AI and quantum computing, examining both QML paradigms, e.g., Variational Quantum Algorithms, Quantum Kernels, and the burgeoning use of AI to enhance quantum computing itself, e.g., quantum control, QEC decoding, circuit design. A critical gap identified is the lack of frameworks that systematically co-design QML algorithms and QEC protocols adaptively. To address this, a novel framework is proposed based on Reinforcement Learning (RL). This framework employs an RL agent to dynamically adjust both the QML circuit architecture, e.g., VQC ansatz, and QEC parameters, e.g., decoding strategy, measurement frequency, based on observed application performance and estimated error characteristics. This adaptive co-design loop aims to optimize the trade-off between QML performance and QEC overhead, enhancing noise resilience and resource efficiency. The potential advantages, feasibility, and limitations of this approach are discussed, alongside with future research directions aimed at realizing robust and practical Quantum AI.
Quantum Artificial Intelligence (Quantum AI) represents a rapidly developing interdisciplinary field at the intersection of quantum computing and machine learning (ML). It holds the promise of unlocking unprecedented computational capabilities for complex optimization tasks, large-scale data processing, and advanced pattern recognition. In this research, we provide a comprehensive examination of two principal quantum algorithms—the Quantum Approximate Optimization Algorithm (QAOA) and the Variational Quantum Eigensolver (VQE)—applied to classical ML challenges. Using a hybrid simulation framework that integrates TensorFlow, scikit-learn, Qiskit, and Cirq, we extensively benchmark quantum-enhanced approaches against conventional methods on both combinatorial optimization and image classification tasks. Our findings indicate that while noise and qubit limitations remain critical barriers, quantum-enhanced models can achieve competitive, and sometimes superior, performance compared to purely classical solutions. We elaborate on the practical implications of these results, discuss hardware and algorithmic constraints, and propose future research directions focusing on error mitigation, scalability, and quantum-native ML models. These insights pave the way for a new computational paradigm, in which quantum resources are harnessed to address previously intractable ML problems.

Autonomous agents are being used in more complex and dynamic environments where efficient learning, adaptive decision-making, and scalable optimization are required. Although classical machine learning (ML) and reinforcement methods have greatly contributed to agent intelligence, they are usually restricted by constraints of computational complexity, scaling, and convergence to high-dimensional decision space. The current developments in quantum computing have created new possibilities to solve these problems using quantum ML (QML). In this chapter, the authors discuss the implementation of QML in collaboration with autonomous agents in the larger paradigm of agentic artificial intelligence (AI) and quantum AI agents. It offers a hybrid classical–quantum architectural model where quantum learning modules improve perception, policy learning, and decision optimization, and do not conflict with classical agent pipelines. The chapter analyzes application cases in autonomous robotics, intelligent transportation systems, multi-agent coordination, smart energy management, as well as communication networks, and the chapter shows the potential benefits of quantum-enhanced learning in these areas. The issue of quantum hardware neediness, data encoding, scaling, hybrid integration, and real-life application are critically evaluated and unanswered. In summary, the chapter is a well-organized approach to the purpose of QML in the development of the next-generation autonomous agent and an insight into creating practical, scalable, and intelligent quantum AI agents.
