Abstract

This paper presents an identification model based on quantum neural network for engineering systems. Quantum neural network (QNN) is a superior strategy to improve the computational efficiency for conventional neural network structures due to their unprecedented computation capabilities. The structure of identification model consists of multi-layer QNN in which qubit neurons are used for data processing. The identification model stability is ensured by introducing a learning algorithm based on Lyapunov theorem for online tuning of the QNN. Furthermore, the convergence and stability of the identification structure are accelerated with developing adaptive learning rates based on Lyapunov theory. The effectiveness of the developed identification model is confirmed with introducing it for two engineering processes and comparing its modeling results with other structures. Simulation results reflect the high superior performance of the developed model compared with other approaches.

Controller Application of a Multi-Layer Quantum Neural Network with Qubit Neurons

Kazuhiko Takahashi, Motoki Kurokawa, Masafumi Hashimoto

This paper investigates a quantum neural network and discusses its application in control systems. A learning-type neural network-based controller that uses a multi-layer quantum neural network having qubit neurons as its information processing unit is proposed. Three learning algorithms; a back-propagation algorithm, a conjugate gradient algorithm and a real-coded genetic algorithm, are investigated to supervise the training of the multi-layer quantum neural network. To evaluate the learning performance and the capability of the quantum neural network-based controller, we conducted computational experiments for controlling a nonlinear discrete-time plant and a nonholonomic system - in this study a two-wheeled robot. The results of computational experiments confirm both the feasibility and the effectiveness of the quantum neural network-based controller and that the real-coded genetic algorithm is suitable for the learning method of the quantum neural network-based controller.

A multi-layer quantum neural network that uses qubit neurons as an information processing unit is utilized to design the adaptive-type parallel controller that conducts the training of the quantum neural network as an online process. Computational experiments to control the single-input single-output nonlinear discrete time plant are conducted in order to evaluate the learning performance and capability of the adaptive-type quantum neural parallel controller. A Quantum Neural Network Model and Its Improved Learning Algorithm

Hua Wan

Presents a quantum BP neural network model and its improved learning algorithm.Firstly a quantum neuron is constructed based on the universality of single qubit rotation gate and two-qubit controlled not gate.Secondly, the hide layer is constructed and uses these quantum neurons with the application of the gradient descent algorithm and the output layer is made with traditional neurons,in which weight and bias values are updated according to the improved algorithm of gradient descent momentum and an adaptive learning rate.It is shown that this model and algorithm are superior to the conventional BP networks in two aspects:convergence speed and accuracy by two UCI's data sets examples.

Quantum Neural Networks: Adaptive Neuron Network Structures

Jincheng Zhang

Quantum Neural Networks (QNNs) represent a novel approach to artificial neural networks, leveraging the unique properties of quantum mechanics to enhance computation capabilities. This paper investigates the design and implementation of a quantum neural network (QNN) that employs adaptive neuron structures, dynamically adjusting their connections based on input data. We explore the potential of quantum entanglement to facilitate this self-adaptive behavior, aiming to achieve improved efficiency and robustness compared to classical neural networks. The core mechanism centers around utilizing quantum entanglement to enable neurons to subtly influence each other's states, promoting a form of self-organization within the network. This research offers a promising avenue for advancing QNNs and opens up new possibilities for complex computational tasks.
