Abstract

With the construction of State Grid informatization, cyberspace security incidents occurs frequently. Therefore, it is important to develop secure and reliable quantum communication technologies for the power grid. In this paper, from the perspective of the multi-terminal quantum key application, a handheld meter reading solution based on quantum private communication technology is proposed to effectively achieve the technological upgrading. First, from the technical theory and application fields, the current situation of quantum private communication technology and its feasibility of combining with classical facilities are introduced and analyzed. Then, considering the quantum key management system as the core, we design and implement quantum key secure storage and business security process application model. Finally, based on the overall environment of quantum key distribution, the architecture design of multi-terminal quantum key application verification is implemented to verify the quantum key business application process.

Secondly, this paper innovatively proposes a power secure communication method based on quantum keys. At the same time, this paper constructs the quantum key secure communication network architecture and analyzes the application principle and security mechanism of quantum key. Taking the quantum key management system as the core, the author designs and implements the quantum key security storage and business security process application model. Thirdly, this paper uses the local search algorithm to optimize the parameters of the MDI-QKD protocol under symmetric and asymmetric conditions, and gives its optimized key rate. Finally, this paper uses the actual quantum key distribution equipment, quantum VPN and network tester to build an experimental environment. The system uses a comprehensive network tester to simulate the power grid application business information to test and statistically analyze the core performance characteristics of quantum VPN, such as throughput, delay, and encryption algorithm. The experimental results can provide a reference for the popularization and application of the quantum secure communication system in the power grid production control and management information business.

Power distribution operation involves the supervision and control of the operating states of a large distribution power grid. This technology includes several features, e.g. an abundant amount of application nodes, diversity of communication channels, etc. To accelerate the construction of State Grid-electric Internet of things and to guarantee the security of power grids data network and to consider the feature of power grids, a synthetic key management system is proposed. In the first section of this paper, from the perspective of maturity and practicality of related technology, the feasibility of combining quantum private communication and automatic power grid key management system is analyzed and demonstrated. In the next section, a key-management method, which is designed to combine quantum private communication technology and interaction with encryption devices, is designed and implemented. In the concluding section, to guarantee the integrity and atomicity in key storage processes and to achieve the quantum key storage, rollback mechanism of large-capacity quantum key storage is studied and discussed.

Research on Key Technologies of Quantum Key Distribution in 5G Power Private Network Communication Under Smart Grid

Yun Ren, Lei An, Gang Yang +5 more

This paper proposes a distribution network application scheme based on quantum secure communication and 5G hard slicing private network. The method can calculate the quantum key update frequency and distribution strategy of each power business by itself. The system performs the key self-evolution of the synchronization between the sender and the receiver by transmitting the random quantity of short length generated in the communication in the quantum channel. It replaces the traditional update method where a new full key must be sent and received after each update must be renegotiated. Finally, this paper proposes the key reading mode between the service terminal and the quantum key mobile storage device, the interface protocol between the service terminal device and the quantum key mobile storage device, and the key management method suitable for the power distribution service terminal. The experimental results show that the described method can realize the automation and intelligence of the optimal distribution of quantum keys for accurate data protection of various power services. This method can construct a precise and secure data protection mechanism based on quantum keys.

Research and Applications of Key Technologies of Quantum Secure Communication in Energy Internet

Gengtao Jia, Weidong Ni, Jia-Wei Wu

With the rapid development of energy Internet, interactions between the power communication network and the cyber Internet become increasingly frequent, resulting in information security threats. Power grid encryption algorithms are mainly based on computational complexity, which will be facilely cracked by the development of quantum computing. Meanwhile, the quantum security communication technology, which is absolutely safe in in theory, can cope with the challenges brought by the improvement of computing. Basing on quantum security communication technology, this paper proposes a general architecture of quantum security communication system in power grid. Problems existing in the application of quantum secure communication technology in power system and key technologies that required to be developed are analyzed concretely. Eventually, several typical energy Internet functions, such as major power-securing events and Unified meter reading and charging service (UMRCS) are proposed to verify the rationality and feasibility.

Multi-Scenario Quantum Key Distribution Mechanism for Power Grid Terminals

Hua Dai, Xin Sun, Bang Lv +2 more

The smart grid relies on information and communication technology to enhance capabilities and electricity management, with information technology aimed at safeguarding the power grid. However, despite leveraging modern communication systems, the smart grid still faces various security challenges. In this paper, we present our work on implementing quantum key distribution (QKD) in the smart grid. Unlike previous approaches, we designed and evaluated separate wired and wireless key distribution mechanisms to securely distribute keys to the terminals. Our experimental results verified that the bit error rate (BER) of the wired key distribution is below 1.5%, and the code rate exceeds 3 Mbps when the transmission distance is less than 10 km. Additionally, we analyzed the performance of wireless key distribution mechanisms. Through theoretical analysis and application scenario evaluation, we demonstrated the feasibility of using QKD to ensure the security of the smart grid.
