Quantum-Resistant Blockchain Authentication Protocol: Securing Decentralized Systems Against Post-Quantum Attacks

Dhruv Dhayal, Preeti Preeti, Pankaj Kumar Varshney +1 more

The fast growth of quantum computing makes the old modes of cryptography, be it RSA or ECC, weak to quantum attacks, especially when it employs Shor's algorithm. Threatening also builds up on the post-quantum age regarding blockchain technology and its external cryptography, which secures reliable transactions and authentication. This study will address the importance of quantum resistant blockchain authentication protocols for the security of decentralized systems against any forward-looking quantum-enabled attacks. This paper goes through different classifications of post-quantum cryptography like lattice-based, hash-based, multivariate polynomial, and code-based cryptography, taking an effort to analyze their compatibility with blockchain use cases.[8] Moreover, we also introduce the innovative quantum-resistant authentication model designed to enhance security while not compromising upon efficiency.[2] [3] Our proposed model would ensure scalability and less computational overhead by partially providing immunity to quantum adversaries through its underlying use of post-quantum signature schemes and lightweight key exchange mechanisms. This research aims at laying the foundation for developing a secure blockchain ecosystem against quantum threats, heading toward a resistant future-proof decentralized infrastructure. [4] [5]

PQC-Enabled Authentication Mechanisms for Secure Smart Grid Integration of EVs

Anupam Tiwar, Deepak Joshi

The incorporation of Electric Vehicles into smart grid networks poses great cybersecurity threats, especially with respect to the secure authentication of devices and communications between charging stations, electric vehicles, and grid operators. Conventional cryptography methods like RSA and ECC are susceptible to quantum computing attacks, which call for the implementation of post-quantum cryptography in order to make these systems quantum-resistant. This paper discusses need and imminence of post-quantum cryptography-based authentication mechanisms for improving the security of smart grid infrastructure that facilitates Electric Vehicles operation and charging stations. It introduces the existing authentication protocols, their shortcomings from a quantum threat perspective, and suggests a framework using quantum-resistant algorithms for authenticating devices, exchanging keys, and ensuring data integrity. Moreover, we tackle scalability, efficiency, and standardization issues regarding the deployment of PQC-based solutions in large-scale smart grid settings. This research identifies the compelling need for secure, quantum-resistant authentication systems to protect the increasing overlap of electric vehicles and smart grid networks, with a view to maintaining secure, reliable, and future-proof energy infrastructures.

Post-Quantum Attribute-Based Authenticated Key Agreement Protocol for Smart Healthcare

Liang Ni, Bingke Gu, Xiaoyan Liu +1 more

With the digitization and networking of medical and health data, intelligent medical devices are widely used to monitor patient health status and provide personalized medical services. However, these devices involve a large amount of personal health data and must ensure data security. The data security and privacy protection in the new complex network environment has become one of the important challenges in the field of healthcare. This study aims to propose a post quantum attribute based authentication key agreement protocol applicable to intelligent healthcare, to address the security risks and risks of medical data communication under traditional cryptographic systems. This new protocol is based on attribute authentication encryption technology without certificates on the grid, which completes mutual authentication and establishes secure communication through attribute and access control policies, and can optimize the deployment of certificate system components in public key infrastructure. Meanwhile, this scheme belongs to the post quantum cryptography protocol and has the ability to resist quantum computing attacks. Based on comprehensive analysis, this scheme can achieve certain advantages in execution efficiency and security, and can provide a more reliable choice for secure communication in the field of intelligent healthcare.
