Pieceable fault-tolerant conversion between Steane and Reed-Muller quantum codes with neural network decoders

Chen Lin, Guowu Yang, Xiaoyu Song B

Designing efficient fault-tolerant circuits for converting between two quantum codes is an effective way to realize universal fault-tolerant quantum computing. In this work, we adopt the round-robin circuit construction to design a conversion circuit between CSS 7-qubit error-correcting code and Reed-Muller 15-qubit code. We take the pieceable fault-tolerant protocol to guarantee the fault tolerance of our conversion circuit. A neural network decoding scheme is proposed to suppress the propagation of quantum errors. Our decoding scheme can effectively reduce the damaging effects of imperfect syndrome extraction operations and predict possible logical errors that occurred after the error correction process. We provide a detailed description of our syndrome data model and analyze the depolarizing noise threshold of our conversion circuit through numerical simulations of the stabilizer circuit.

Dynamically Reconfigurable Quantum Circuits for Fault-Tolerant Computation

Jincheng Zhang

Fault-tolerant quantum computation represents a cornerstone of realizing the full potential of quantum computers. However, current approaches to achieving this goal often rely on static circuit designs and extensive redundancy, leading to significant overhead in terms of qubits and circuit complexity. This paper proposes a novel framework for dynamically reconfiguring quantum circuits during computation, aiming to minimize the impact of noise and errors while maintaining computational efficiency. The core mechanism involves an adaptive system that monitors the quantum system's state and adjusts the circuit topology in real-time. This approach offers a potentially more resource-efficient pathway to fault tolerance. The presented framework is theoretically explored, detailing key considerations for circuit reconfiguration strategies and their impact on error mitigation. We outline a system where a central control unit analyzes quantum state information and initiates changes to the quantum circuit, optimizing for minimal error propagation. The potential of this dynamic reconfiguration approach is highlighted as a crucial step toward practical and scalable fault-tolerant quantum computation.
