Hyper-hybrid entanglement, indistinguishability, and two-particle entanglement swapping

Soumya Das, Goutam Paul, Anindya Banerji

Hyper-hybrid entanglement for two indistinguishable bosons has been recently proposed by Li et al. [Y. Li, M. Gessner, W. Li, and A. Smerzi, Phys. Rev. Lett. 120, 050404 (2018)]. In the current paper, we show that this entanglement exists for two indistinguishable fermions also. Next, we establish two no-go results: no hyper-hybrid entanglement for two distinguishable particles, and no unit fidelity quantum teleportation using indistinguishable particles. If either of these is possible, then the no-signaling principle would be violated. While several earlier works have attempted extending many results on distinguishable particles to indistinguishable ones, and vice versa, the above two no-go results establish a nontrivial separation between the two domains. Finally, we propose an efficient entanglement swapping using only two indistinguishable particles, whereas a minimum number of either three distinguishable or four indistinguishable particles is necessary for existing protocols.

Teleportation of Indistinguishable Fermion Particles

Yan Feng-Li

It is more difficult to teleport indistinguishable particles than to teleport distinguishable particles. A scheme for teleporting indistinguishable Fermion particles is proposed in this paper,by introducing the spatial degrees of freedom of all the particles involved and the bell vectors including anti-symmetry property on the spins and the spatial degrees.

Indistinguishability-enabled coherence for quantum metrology

Alessia Castellini, Rosario Lo Franco, Ludovico Lami +3 more

Quantum coherence plays a fundamental and operational role in different areas of physics. A resource theory has been developed to characterize the coherence of distinguishable particles systems. Here we show that indistinguishability of identical particles is a source of coherence, even when they are independently prepared. In particular, under spatially local operations, states that are incoherent for distinguishable particles, can be coherent for indistinguishable particles under the same procedure. We present a phase discrimination protocol, in which we demonstrate the operational advantage of using two indistinguishable particles rather than distinguishable ones. The coherence due to the quantum indistinguishability significantly reduces the error probability of guessing the phase, using the most general measurements. The role played by particle statistics in the protocol is also investigated.
