Abstract

This research delves into the realm of quantum steganography, where the concealment and encoding of secret messages within colored images are achieved through the ingenious integration of quantum gates and qubits. Using the Qiskit platform by IBM and Python, an innovative application was developed for the encoding and decoding of covert information. The study addresses the problem of bolstering data security in an era of advancing technology, where classical steganographic methods may become vulnerable to quantum threats. The approach leverages the unique quantum properties of qubits, their superposition, and entanglement, to ensure an unprecedented level of security. Key findings reveal the viability of quantum steganography is a powerful tool for secure data concealment and transmission. The research's significance lies in its potential to redefine data protection paradigms, safeguarding sensitive information in an increasingly interconnected and vulnerable digital landscape.

Quantum Steganography: Hiding Secret Messages in Images using Quantum Circuits and SIFT

Hassan Jameel Azooz, Khawla Ben Salah, Monji Kherallah +1 more

In today’s era of escalating digital threats and the growing need for safeguarding sensitive information, this research strives to advance the field of information concealment by introducing a pioneering steganography methodology. Our approach goes beyond the conventional boundaries of image security by seamlessly integrating classical image processing techniques with the cutting-edge realm of quantum encoding. The foundation of our technique lies in the meticulous identification of distinctive features within the cover image, a crucial step achieved through the utilization of SIFT (Scale-Invariant Feature Transform). These identified key points are further organized into coherent clusters employing the K-means clustering algorithm, forming a structured basis for our covert communication process. The core innovation of this research resides in the transformation of the concealed message into a NEQR (Novel Enhanced Quantum Representation) code, a quantum encoding framework that leverages the power of quantum circuits. This transformative step ensures not only the secrecy but also the integrity of the hidden information, making it highly resistant to even the most sophisticated decryption attempts. The strategic placement of the quantum circuit representing the concealed message at the centroids of the clusters generated by the K-means algorithm conceals it within the cover image seamlessly. This fusion of classical image processing and quantum encoding results in an unprecedented level of security for the embedded information, rendering it virtually impervious to unauthorized access. Empirical findings from extensive experimentation affirm the robustness and efficacy of our proposed strategy.

Hybrid Quantum Steganographic Techniques for Secure Data Concealment in Quantum Communication

Sujata Jagtap, Vaishali Jagtap

Modern information security measures have changed as a result of the quick development of quantum computing and communication technologies. As computing power increases, traditional steganography methods are more susceptible to quantum attacks. By using quantum mechanical features like superposition, entanglement, and quantum error-correcting algorithms to safely hide data, quantum steganography shows promise as a solution. Quantum steganography is an advanced cyber security method that offers full secrecy from either classical or quantum hacking. Using quantum-resistant methods for secure (biometric) transmission, anti-spoofing, and privacy-preserving authentication, this work presents a quantum steganography technique that expands upon the benefits of digital imaging's Novel Enhanced Quantum Representation (NEQR). Our research and testing have demonstrated that our method is secure against a variety of attacks and provides defense against present and potential dangers while preserving the steganography characteristics of capacity and imperceptibility, making it one of the greatest choices for transmitting confidential data.

Quantum Steganography with QKD for Secure Communication

Karthiaeni T, Kiruthika S, Lavanya V +2 more

In response to rising cyber threats and the limitations of traditional security, this project proposes a hybrid framework combining quantum cryptography and text-based steganography for secure and concealed communication. Using the BB84 Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) protocol, a secure quantum key is established and extended with SHA-256 to encrypt a secret message via XOR operations. The encrypted data is embedded into a cover text using three steganographic techniques: case-based, zero-width, and color-based methods, the latter including double-color and double-color overlay variants. The techniques are evaluated on embedding efficiency, payload capacity, entropy, and deviation percentage. Among them, double-layer color-based steganography demonstrates superior performance, achieving up to 6 bits/symbol and 95% efficiency, with minimal error and high integrity. The system is implemented using Qiskit and HTML rendering, validating its practical feasibility. This dual-layer security model ensures confidentiality and invisibility, offering a robust, quantum-enhanced approach to secure communication in sensitive applications.

Integrating Q-Bit Generation via Quantum Computing for Enhanced AES Encryption and LSB Technique for Secure Image Steganography

B S Spoorthi

In the realm of cybersecurity, the demand for robust encryption and secure data hiding techniques has intensified with the proliferation of digital communication and sensitive information exchange. This paper explores integration of QC advancements for enhancing the security of two critical cryptographic applications: Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) encryption and Least Significant Bit (LSB) image steganography. Quantum computing introduces the concept of qubits, which harness quantum mechanical phenomena to perform computations that classical computers struggle to achieve efficiently. By leveraging qubits, AES encryption can potentially benefit from enhanced key generation and encryption processes, thereby strengthening data confidentiality against conventional and future quantum attacks. Additionally, this paper investigates the application of quantum-inspired techniques to optimize the LSB method in image steganography. LSB embedding involves hiding data within LSB of image pixels, technique vulnerable to statistical attacks. Quantum-inspired approaches aim to mitigate these vulnerabilities by improving embedding efficiency and robustness without compromising image quality. Through theoretical analysis and simulation studies, this research evaluates the feasibility and potential benefits of integrating quantum computing into AES encryption and LSB steganography. The findings underscore the promise of quantum-enhanced methods in fortifying data security across digital platforms, laying the groundwork for future advancements in quantum cryptography and information hiding techniques.
