Abstract

Abstract The technological advancements made in recent times, particularly in artificial intelligence (AI) and quantum computing, have brought about significant changes in technology. These advancements have profoundly impacted quantum cryptography, a field where AI methodologies hold tremendous potential to enhance the efficiency and robustness of cryptographic systems. However, the emergence of quantum computers has created a new challenge for existing security algorithms, commonly called the ‘quantum threat’. Despite these challenges, there are promising avenues for integrating neural network-based AI in cryptography, which has significant implications for future digital security paradigms. This summary highlights the key themes in the intersection of AI and quantum cryptography, including the potential benefits of AI-driven cryptography, the challenges that need to be addressed, and the prospects of this interdisciplinary research area.

Advancing Secure Communication in the Quantum Era through the Integration of Artificial Intelligence and Quantum Cryptographic Techniques

Mr. Hemant N. Chaudhari

Utilizing the ideas of quantum physics, quantum cryptography is quickly becoming a vital defense against the growing cybersecurity risks of the contemporary day, especially in light of developing quantum computing. This essay investigates the complex field of quantum cryptography and looks at how it can transform network security and protect private data. We examine the fundamental ideas of quantum cryptography, such as Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) protocols like BB84 and E91, which use quantum features like superposition and entanglement to provide potentially indestructible secure communication channels. We also discuss the urgent need for quantum-resistant solutions in view of the developing "quantum threat" to well-known cryptographic algorithms like RSA and AES. The potential benefits and difficulties of using artificial intelligence (AI) techniques to boost quantum cryptography systems' resilience and efficiency are also examined. The creation of effective quantum repeater networks and enhanced security proofs are among the outstanding research topics, future difficulties, and present implementations in quantum cryptography that are covered in this study. We stress how crucial quantum cryptography is to protecting sensitive communications in the quantum era for a variety of industries, including the military, government, financial industry, and healthcare. We come to the conclusion that quantum cryptography has enormous potential for protecting vital information systems from future cyberattacks that are becoming more complex, even if we acknowledge the technology's early stages of development.

Post-Quantum Cryptography: Securing AI Systems against Quantum Threats

Danny J. Smith, Akinniyi James Samuel

As artificial intelligence (AI) systems increasingly underpin critical applications in healthcare, finance, defense, and infrastructure, ensuring their security has become paramount. However, the rapid advancement of quantum computing poses a significant threat to classical cryptographic schemes that currently safeguard these systems. Quantum algorithms such as Shor’s and Grover’s threaten to undermine the confidentiality, integrity, and authentication of data and models that AI systems depend on. In this context, Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) has emerged as a crucial area of research aimed at developing cryptographic algorithms that are secure against both classical and quantum adversaries. This paper investigates the intersection of quantum computing threats and AI system vulnerabilities, highlighting how current security mechanisms may fail in a post-quantum era. We explore various categories of PQC—including lattice-based, hash-based, and multivariate polynomial cryptography—and evaluate their applicability to securing AI systems, particularly in scenarios such as model distribution, federated learning, data encryption, and communication in AI-enabled edge and IoT environments. Through analysis of emerging use cases and proposed architectures, the paper outlines how PQC can be integrated into the AI lifecycle to mitigate quantum-era threats. It also identifies key challenges such as computational overhead, integration complexity, and standardization gaps. The study concludes by outlining future research opportunities, including the development of efficient PQC protocols tailored to AI workloads, the creation of quantum-resilient AI pipelines, and the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration to secure AI’s future.
