Strontium Optical Atomic Clocks in KL FAMO Blue Detuned Lattice for Strontium Atoms and Project of a Continuous Active Optical Clock with Cold Strontium Atoms

Marcin Bober, Piotr Ablewski, Sławomir Bilicki +10 more

We would like to report on a design of new type of optical atomic clock - a continuous active clock with cold strontium atoms, as well as on progress with lattice clocks in KL FAMO. The active clock design will use blue detuned optical lattice to provide the Lamb-Dicke regime in the optical cavity, where conditions for superradiance emission on the clock transition will be meet. Studies of the blue detuned magic wavelength for88Sr will be presented together with possibility to create a state dependence, blue detuned optical lattice.

Indigenisation of the Quantum Clock: An Indispensable Tool for Modern Technologies

Subhadeep De, Arijit Sharma

Time and frequency (T&F) measurement with unprecedented accuracy is the backbone for several sophisticated technologies, commensurate with the evolution of human civilisation in the 20th century in terms of communication, positioning, navigation, and precision timing. This necessity drove researchers in the early 1950s to build atomic clocks that have now evolved to a state-of-the-art level, operating at optical wavelengths as optical atomic clocks, which use cold and trapped samples of atomic/ionic species and various other sophisticated diagnostic test techniques. Such ultrahigh-precision accurate clocks have made it possible to probe fundamental aspects of science through incredibly sensitive measurements. On the other hand, they meet the T&F synchronisation standards for classical and emerging quantum technologies at the desired level of accuracy. Considering the impact of optical atomic clocks in the second quantum revolution (quantum 2.0), they have been identified as an indispensable critical technology in worldwide quantum missions, including in India. This article reviews the present international scenario regarding optical atomic clocks and their related technologies and draws a roadmap for their indigenisation over the next decade.

Design of magnetic field of magnetic-optical trap and control circuit for Sr optical lattice clock

Hong Chang

Owing to the different requirements to the magnetic field of magnetic-optical trap for the two different stages of cooling of Sr optical lattice clock, the magnetic field conversion needs to be controlled with a certain sequence within a short time for reducing the fleeing of the atoms in the magnetic field conversion. The theory of the anti-Helmholtz coil is discussed,a design of the magnetic field for the two-stage-cooling of Sr optical lattice clock is presented, and an occurring and controlling device for the magnetic conversion, which mainly contains control circuit and protection circuit,is manufactured. The measurement shows that the current through the coil is controlled by the input signal, meeting the experimental requirements.
