Tensor renormalization group study of 3D principal chiral model

Abstract

We study the three-dimensional $SU(2)$ principal chiral model using different tensor renormalization group methods based on the triad and anisotropic decomposition of the tensor. The tensor network representation is formulated based on the character expansion of the Boltzmann weight. We compare the average action obtained using these two tensor network algorithms and confirm that the resulting critical coupling and exponent are comparable with the recent estimations from the Monte Carlo methods.

S U ( 2 ) principal chiral model with tensor renormalization group on a cubic lattice

Shinichiro Akiyama, Raghav G. Jha, Judah Unmuth-Yockey

We study the continuous phase transition and thermodynamic observables in the three-dimensional Euclidean S U ( 2 ) principal chiral field model with the triad tensor renormalization group and the anisotropic tensor renormalization group methods. Using these methods, we find results that are consistent with previous Monte Carlo estimates and the predicted renormalization group scaling of the magnetization close to criticality. These results bring us one step closer to studying finite-density quantum chromodynamics in four dimensions using tensor network methods. Published by the American Physical Society 2024

Tensor network approach to 2D Yang-Mills theories

Masafumi Fukuma, Daisuke Kadoh, Nobuyuki Matsumoto

We propose a novel tensor network representation for two-dimensional Yang-Mills theories with arbitrary compact gauge groups. In this method, tensor indices are directly given by group elements with no direct use of the character expansion. We apply the tensor renormalization group method to this tensor network for $SU(2)$ and $SU(3)$, and find that the free energy density and the energy density are accurately evaluated. We also show that the singular value decomposition of a tensor has a group theoretic structure and can be associated with the character expansion.

Triad second renormalization group

Daisuke Kadoh, Hideaki Oba, Shinji Takeda

Abstract We propose a second renormalization group (SRG) in the triad representation of tensor networks. The SRG method improves two parts of the triad tensor renormalization group, which are the decomposition of intermediate tensors and the preparation of isometries, taking the influence of environment tensors into account. Every fundamental tensor including environment tensor is given as a rank-3 tensor, and the computational cost of the proposed algorithm scales with $$ \mathcal{O} $$ O (χ5) employing the randomized SVD where χ is the bond dimension of tensors. We test this method in the classical Ising model on the two dimensional square lattice, and find that numerical results are obtained in good accuracy for a fixed computational time.

Tensor renormalization group approach to ( 1+1 )-dimensional SU(2) principal chiral model at finite density

Xiao Luo, Y. Kuramashi

We apply the tensor renormalization group method to the ($1+1$)-dimensional SU(2) principal chiral model at finite chemical potential with the use of the Gauss-Legendre quadrature to discretize the SU(2) Lie group. The internal energy at vanishing chemical potential $\ensuremath{\mu}=0$ shows good consistency with the prediction of the strong and weak coupling expansions. This indicates an effectiveness of the Gauss-Legendre quadrature for the partitioning of the SU(2) Lie group. In the finite density region with $\ensuremath{\mu}\ensuremath{\ne}0$ at the strong coupling we observe the Silver-Blaze phenomenon for the number density.
