On the role of entanglement in the formation and stability of composite bosons

Zakarya Lasmar

On the role of entanglement in the formation and stability of composite bosons by mgr.Zakarya Lasmar Composite bosons are many-body systems made of many elementary bosons, or an even number of elementary fermions.Recently, it was suggested that quantum entanglement can be understood as the origin of the bosonic character of the simplest systems of this type (bipartite composite bosons). This idea motivated a new direction of research: quantum information oriented study of composite particles. In the present work, the role of entanglement in the formation and dynamics of composite bosons is studied. We show that, in some special situations, two entangled fermions can exhibit bosonic behaviour while being specially separated. We propose a nonlocal scheme that leads two pairs of entangled fermions to form an analogue of a two-partite bosonic Fock state. Also, we show that in some situations entanglement can provide stability for a composite particle. In this case, the interaction-free dynamics of an entangled bipartite system appear to mimic the behaviour of two interacting particles. In addition, we discuss the possible reasons that can limit the influence of entanglement on the behaviour of composite particles. The no-signalling condition seems to play a crucial role, which suggests that interactions in some situations become necessary.Regarding the formation of composite bosons, I present an entanglement-based method to study the bosonic quality of fermionic multipartite systems.Using this method, I examine the bosonic quality of the ground state of the extended one-dimensional Hubbard model while tuning the strength of interactions.vii

Cold-Atom Particle Collider

Guo-Xian Su, Jesse J. Osborne, Jad C. Halimeh

A major objective of the strong ongoing drive to realize quantum simulators of gauge theories is achieving the capability to probe collider-relevant physics on them. In this regard, a highly pertinent and sought-after application is the controlled collisions of elementary and composite particles, as well as the scattering processes in their wake. Here, we propose particle-collision experiments in a cold-atom quantum simulator for a 1 + 1 D (one spatial and one temporal dimension) U(1) lattice gauge theory with a tunable topological θ term, where we demonstrate an experimentally feasible protocol to impart momenta to elementary (anti)particles and their meson composites. We numerically benchmark the collisions of moving wave packets for both elementary and composite particles, uncovering a plethora of rich phenomena, such as oscillatory string dynamics in the wake of elementary (anti)particle collisions due to confinement. We also probe string inversion and entropy production processes across Coleman’s phase transition through far-from-equilibrium quenches. We further demonstrate how collisions of composite particles unveil their internal structure. Our work paves the way towards the experimental investigation of collision dynamics in state-of-the-art quantum simulators of gauge theories, and sets the stage for microscopic understanding of collider-relevant physics in these platforms. N-mode linear-composite coordinate representation and its applications

Shi-Min Xu, Xing-Lei Xu, Jiang Ji-Jian +1 more

Using the technique of integration within an ordered product of operators, a unitary transformation matrix and N linear-composite coordinate operators are constructed for an N-particle system, and the complete and orthonormal common eigenvectors of the N linear-composite coordinate operators are examined. The N-mode linear-composite coordinate representation is proposed, and its application to a general N-mode coupling quantum harmonic system is studied for solving some dynamic problems.
