Multiple-Valued Quantum-DNA Computing

Abstract

Quantum and DNA computing are both distributed and parallel types of computing. They're useful for tasks that require high-complexity computations and/or large data sets, such as searching, sorting, merging, pattern recognition, image processing, and encryption. Quantum and DNA algorithms cannot be efficiently simulated on classical computers because they are incapable of coping with parallelism. Quantum computers are more powerful than classical turing machines because of their coherent superposition of states. Biotechnology techniques can be used to evolve DNA computers. Both of these qualities could be captured by combining DNA and quantum computers. Self-assembling quantum logic circuits from gates attached to DNA strands could be achieved using DNA computers. In terms of how inputs are given and outputs are generated, multiple-valued Quantum and DNA computing can be combined in two ways. They can be named as: Multiple-Valued Quantum-DNA Computing, and Multiple-Valued DNA-Quantum Computing.

Multiple-Valued DNA-Quantum Combinational Circuits

Hafiz Md. Hasan Babu

Both DNA computing and quantum computing have the potential to outperform ordinary digital computers, but considerable technical hurdles must be overcome first. Because of their coherent superposition of states, quantum computers are more powerful than traditional turing machines. DNA computers can be evolved via biotechnology techniques. Combining DNA and quantum computers could capture both of these properties. With this in mind, this chapter is devoted to DNA-Quantum Computing, which combines two distinct technologies. It discusses multi-valued DNA-Quantum multiplexer, demultiplexer, encoder and decoder. A balanced multiplexer is an essential component of a digital system that converts multiple inputs to a single output. This circuit is useful for building multi-valued arithmetic circuits. Demultiplexer circuits are among the most important circuits in the design of complex hardware. It maps a single input to multiple outputs. The Multi-Valued Encoder is a combinational logic circuit with 3 n input lines and n output lines that functions as a multi-input and multi-output device.

DNA and quantum computers

Russell J. Deaton

Both DNA and quantum computers have the potential to exceed the power of conventional digital computers, though substantial technical difficulties first must be overcome. Through coherent superposition of states, quantum computers are more powerful than classical Turing machines. DNA computers are evolvable through biotechnology techniques. By combining DNA and quantum computers, both of these characteristics might be captured. DNA computers could be used to self-assemble quantum logic circuits from gates attached to DNA strands. Moreover, quantum computers might be implemented directly using the physical characteristics of the DNA molecule. 1

Multiple-Valued Quantum-DNA Combinational Circuits

Hafiz Md. Hasan Babu

Quantum computers might be built directly from the physical properties of the DNA molecule. Multi-Valued logic enhances the advantages of this combination. The combination of this quantum computing and DNA computing is called quantum molecular biology. This chapter describes the combinational circuits in multi-valued quantum-DNA computing. An encoder is a critical component of a digital computer. A Quantum-DNA decoder first performs some Quantum operation on its inputs, then proceeds to the DNA operations after converting the qubit to its corresponding DNA molecule.

Multiple-Valued Computing in Quantum Molecular Biology

Hafiz Md. Hasan Babu

This book focuses on the design methodologies of various quantum circuits, DNA circuits, DNA-quantum circuits and quantum-DNA circuits. It considers the merits and challenges of multivalued logic circuits in quantum, DNA, quantum-DNA and DNA-quantum computing. Multiple-Valued Computing in Quantum Molecular Biology: Arithmetic and Combinational Circuits is Volume 1 of a two-volume set. From fundamentals to advanced levels, this book discusses different multiple-valued logic DNA-quantum and quantum-DNA circuits. The text consists of four parts. Part I introduces multiple-valued quantum computing and DNA computing. It contains the basic understanding of multiple-valued quantum computing, multiple-valued DNA computing, multiple-valued quantum-DNA computing and multiple-valued DNA-quantum computing. Part II examines heat calculation, speed calculation, heat transfer, data conversion and data management in multi-valued quantum, DNA, quantum-DNA and DNA-quantum computing. Part III discusses multiple-valued logic operations in quantum and DNA computing such as ternary AND, NAND, OR, NOR, XOR, XNOR and multiple-valued arithmetic operations such as adder, multiplier, divider and more. Quantum-DNA and DNA-quantum multiple-valued arithmetic operations are also explained in this section. Part IV explains multiple-valued quantum and DNA combinational circuits such as multiple-valued DNA-quantum and quantum-DNA multiplexer, demultiplexer, encoder and decoder. This book will be of great help to researchers and students in quantum computing, DNA computing, quantum-DNA computing and DNA-quantum computing researchers.

Final Remarks

Hafiz Md. Hasan Babu

The combination of multi-valued quantum and DNA computing can form multi-valued quantum-DNA and DNA-quantum computing. The potential for multiple-valued quantum molecular biology to contribute in the development of sustainable energy solutions is widely highlighted as a driving force behind the study, especially in terms of understanding quantum-coherent excitation energy conversion in photosynthetic systems. The characteristics of the DNA molecule aid in inducing quantum features such as superposition, tunneling, coherence, and entanglement. NMR is necessary for synthesizing a qubit from a DNA sequence, and NMR may be conducted at two temperatures: 0-kelvin and room temperature. To retrieve the appropriate DNA sequence, RNMR is employed to relax the qubit. In multiple-valued quantum computing, qubits are utilized to carry out operations, whereas in multiple-valued DNA computing, DNA sequences are employed as inputs. Using multiple-valued quantum-DNA computing the heat generated in multiple-valued quantum computing is used in multiple-valued DNA computing.

A Connection Of Quantum Computation And Dna Computation Using The Bloch Sphere

Patrick K. Inkoom

Quantum and DNA computing are distributing and parallel types of computing. They are useful for solving problems which require high complexity computations and (or) massive data set computations such as searching, sorting, merging, pattern recognition, image processing, encryption, etc. Quantum and DNA algorithms cannot be efficiently simulated on classical computers because classical computers cannot efficiently deal with the parallelism. The quantum circuit model is adequate to describe quantum algorithms whereas DNA circuit model is adequate to describe DNA algorithms. This thesis establishes the relationship between a quantum qubit and a DNA string using the Bloch sphere. The Bloch sphere is a convenient graphical representation of a qubit in a 3-dimensional space. The model used in this thesis presents one-to-one mapping between qubits, DNA strings, and points on the Bloch sphere. The model is implemented at the real computer - von Neumann machine, therefore, there are restrictions related to the precision of qubits value, the length of DNA strings, and the precisions of coordinates values. The Bloch sphere and the relations between qubits, DNA strings and points are implemented as "Quantum and DNA Computation Simulation Programming System". Quantum and DNA Computation Simulation Programming System is implemented in the Java programming language. This system is a modified and upgraded interactive Quantum Computation applet developed at the Johns Hopkins Center for Educational Resources. The modifications include connecting (a) DNA strings and the Bloch sphere and (b) DNA strings and qubits. There are many researches in Quantum Computing and DNA Computing as independent study fields, but this is the first research which tries to connect Quantum and DNA Computing together using the Bloch sphere.
