Quantum-Based Intelligence for Cellular Network Management: Use Cases, Challenges, and O-RAN Integration

Sergio Fortes, Javier Villegas, Fatma Chaouech +6 more

As cellular networks evolve towards 5G and beyond, the increasing complexity demands advanced approaches for efficient management and network intelligence. While classical machine learning (ML) plays a vital role in network planning, optimization and resilience, it faces limitations in handling largescale data and dynamic environments. Quantum Technologies (QTs) offer a promising way forward in this area, leveraging quantum computing principles to potentially enhance processing power and scalability. Toward this end, the present article explores the application of the Quantum Machine Learning (QML) and Quantum-Inspired (QI) algorithms in the management of cellular networks. A novel framework for the integration of such approaches in 5G / 6G networks is developed with a special focus on Open RAN architectures. The proposed application of QTs is then assessed based on real cellular data and Quantum algorithms for three main areas of cellular management: network metrics estimation, classification of failures, and resource optimization, showing the capabilities of the approach. Finally, the main challenges and future R&D lines in the area are identified.

A brief review of quantum machine learning techniques for financial services

Mina Doosti, Petros Wallden, Conor Brian Hamill +3 more

Abstract This review paper examines state-of-the-art algorithms and techniques in quantum machine learning (QML) with potential applications in finance. We discuss QML techniques in supervised learning tasks, such as quantum variational classifiers, quantum Kernel estimation, and quantum neural networks, along with quantum generative AI techniques like quantum transformers and quantum graph neural networks. The financial applications considered include risk management, credit scoring, fraud detection, and stock price prediction. We also provide an overview of the challenges, potential, and limitations of QML, both in these specific areas and more broadly across the field. We hope that this can serve as a quick guide for data scientists, professionals in the financial sector, and enthusiasts in this area to understand why quantum computing and QML in particular could be interesting to explore in their field of expertise.

Quantum Computing in Big Data Analytics: A Survey

Tawseef Ayoub Shaikh, Rashid Ali

Big Data is a term which denotes data that is beyond storage capacity and processing capabilities of classical computer and getting some insight from large amount of data is a very big challenge at hand. Quantum Computing comes to rescue by offering a lot of promises in information processing systems, particularly in Big Data Analytics. In this paper, we have reviewed the available literature on Big Data Analytics using Quantum Computing for Machine Learning and its current state of the art. We categorized the Quantum Machine learning in different subfields depending upon the logic of their learning followed by a review in each technique. Quantum Walks used to construct Quantum Artificial Neural Networks, which exponentially speed-up the quantum machine learning algorithm is discussed. Quantum Supervised and Unsupervised machine learning and its benefits are compared with that of Classical counterpart. The limitations of some of the existing Machine learning techniques and tools are enunciated, and the significance of Quantum computing in Big Data Analytics is incorporated. Being in its infancy as a totally new field, Quantum computing comes up with a lot of open challenges as well. The challenges, promises, future directions and techniques of the Quantum Computing in Machine Learning are also highlighted.
