Slow light between two absorbing resonance in asymmetry double quantum dots

Chunchao Yu, Tao Wang

We demonstrate the slow light in double quantum dots (QDs) resonance dispersion material in theory. The slow factor, absorption, and bandwidth are greatly influenced by the energy difference of the two resonance energy. The bandwidth of this system is up to 60 GHz. The 20 ps input signal pulse is delayed by 180 ps (group index of approximately 55) relative to free-space propagation with little broadening in 1 mm dispersion material for the optical communication wavelength. The signal pulse delay can be tuned by the pump pulse.

Spontaneously generated coherence in ladder-plus-Y double quantum dot system

Baqer Obaid Al-Nashy, Sabeah Jasim, Ali Gehad Al‐Shatravi +1 more

A model was presented for linear susceptibility in ladder-plus-Y configuration of double quantum dot system using density matrix theory and including spontaneously generated coherence of Λ-type system. Wetting layer and quantum dot inhomogeneity were considered in the calculations, which gives a practical description of double quantum dot structures well. With increasing spontaneously generated coherence from Λ-component, the dispersion was increased and shifted under spontaneously generated coherence. The inclusion of wetting layer under spontaneously generated coherence increases gain which coincides with the published results. A possibility of slow light was predicted.

Voltage-controlled slow light in asymmetry double quantum dots

Chun-Hua Yuan, Ka‐Di Zhu

The authors demonstrate theoretically that there exists electromagnetically induced transparency in an asymmetric double quantum dot system using tunneling instead of pump laser. The group velocity slowdown factor is theoretically analyzed as a function of electron tunneling at different broadened linewidths. With feasible parameters for applications to a 100Gbits∕s optical network, numerical calculation infers group velocity as low as 300m∕s. The scheme is expected to be useful in constructing a variable semiconductor optical buffer based on electromagnetically induced transparency in an asymmetric double quantum dot controlled by voltage.
