Abstract

The remarkable advancement of quantum steganography offers enhanced security for quantum communications. However, there is a significant concern regarding the potential misuse of this technology. Moreover, the current research on identifying malicious quantum steganography is insufficient. To address this gap in steganalysis research, this paper proposes a specialized quantum steganalysis algorithm. This algorithm utilizes quantum machine learning techniques to detect steganography in general quantum secure communication schemes that are based on pure states. The algorithm presented in this paper consists of two main steps: data preprocessing and automatic discrimination. The data preprocessing step involves extracting and amplifying abnormal signals, followed by the automatic detection of suspicious quantum carriers through training on steganographic and non-steganographic data. The numerical results demonstrate that a larger disparity between the probability distributions of steganographic and non-steganographic data leads to a higher steganographic detection indicator, making the presence of steganography easier to detect.By selecting an appropriate threshold value, the steganography detection rate can exceed 90%.

Steganalysis of Continuous Variable Quantum Steganographic Protocols

Akhil Gupta, Rohan Joshi, Mukhtiyar Singh

Steganography is the study of concealing and sending a secret message by making the eavesdropper unaware of its presence. First ever attempt to propose steganography via quantum key distribution (QKD) was made by Martin in his paper where BB84 QKD was used for communicating steganographic messages. The protocol have recently been found to be insecure against a detection based steganalysis attack which uses ambiguous quantum state discrimination. In this work, we extend the previous methods to develop new continuous variable quantum steganographic protocols using QKD and analyze their performance against steganalysis.

Hybrid Quantum Steganographic Techniques for Secure Data Concealment in Quantum Communication

Sujata Jagtap, Vaishali Jagtap

Modern information security measures have changed as a result of the quick development of quantum computing and communication technologies. As computing power increases, traditional steganography methods are more susceptible to quantum attacks. By using quantum mechanical features like superposition, entanglement, and quantum error-correcting algorithms to safely hide data, quantum steganography shows promise as a solution. Quantum steganography is an advanced cyber security method that offers full secrecy from either classical or quantum hacking. Using quantum-resistant methods for secure (biometric) transmission, anti-spoofing, and privacy-preserving authentication, this work presents a quantum steganography technique that expands upon the benefits of digital imaging's Novel Enhanced Quantum Representation (NEQR). Our research and testing have demonstrated that our method is secure against a variety of attacks and provides defense against present and potential dangers while preserving the steganography characteristics of capacity and imperceptibility, making it one of the greatest choices for transmitting confidential data.

Quantum steganography for secure data transmission

Gabriela Mogos, Ho-Pun Lam

Abstract Quantum steganography is an advanced method of hiding information within quantum systems, leveraging the unique properties of quantum mechanics-such as superposition, entanglement, and the no-cloning theorem-to achieve unbreakable secrecy. Quantum steganography provides perfect secrecy against both classical and quantum hacking, making it a cutting-edge technology in cybersecurity. This paper introduces a quantum steganography technique that builds on the advantages of of Novel Enhanced Quantum Representation (NEQR) of digital imaging and integrates quantum-resistant solutions for secure (biometric) transmission, anti-spoofing, and privacy-preserving authentication. Our analysis and experiments have shown that our approach is robust against several types of attacks, and offers protection against both current and future threats while maintaining the steganographic property of imperceptibility and capacity, making it one of the best options for secret information transmission.

Possibilities of realizing a quantum steganography communication

Veselka Stoyanova, Georgi Kozarev

Several approaches and techniques exist to make communication via the internet secure, one of these approaches is steganography. Computer steganography is a technique used to conceal data within cover media, ensuring that its presence remains undetected by others. We investigate the steganography potential applications in quantum communication and assess its benefits in the context of secret information transmission. Quantum computers, built on the principles of quantum physics, have introduced new possibilities for researchers in security and computer science. This paper explores the possibilities of realizing a quantum steganography communication, the challenges and its achievements of quantum steganography to tackle a wide range of security and privacy challenges. The article deals with the steganography system which hides text inside images and after that realize quantum communication. The secret message is hidden in the cover image using Least Significant Bit (LSB) algorithm. The paper proposes an information transmission scheme with a quantum channel enabled and visualization of quantum steganography protocol.

A Hybrid Quantum-Post-Quantum Framework for Secure Data Encryption Using Adaptive Steganography

Rajkumar Kuppuswami, Rajanikanth Sanku, Dr.Suresh. A +2 more

In recent times, secure data transmission become crucial requirement because of increasing growth of threats and emergence of quantum computing technologies. However, existing Quantum Key Distribution-Advanced Encryption Standard-Least Significant Bit (QKD-AES-LSB) struggled with two main limitations such as restricted resistance to future quantum attacks because of dependence on classical encryption and vulnerability of static LSB steganography for improved Machine Learning (ML) approaches. To address these challenges, Quantum Key Distribution-Post-Quantum Cryptography-Adaptive Steganographic Encryption framework (QKD-PQC-ASE) is proposed. Primarily, secret data and cover images are gathered then quantum key is generated using E91 protocol. Next, post-quantum cryptographic key encapsulation is applied to strengthened the generated kay and ensure long-term quantum resistance. Further, secret data is encrypted employing quantum-resilient encryption mechanism and combined using cryptographic hashing. Furthermore, encrypted data is embedded in to cover image through quantum-randomness-guided adaptive steganography for resisting improved steganalysis attacks. Finally, proposed QKD-PQC-ASE framework obtains improved resistance against future quantum attacks and enhanced steganalysis by maintaining low computational overhead. Therefore, proposed QKD-PQC-ASE framework achieved greater results in terms of NPCR of 99.84 % and a UACI of$\mathbf{5 7. 9 2 \%}$which demonstrates efficiency of framework for secure and future-ready data encryption in quantum-aware communication environments.

Stego Quantum Algorithm

Gabriela Mogos

Steganography is the art and science of hiding the fact that communication is taking place. Steganographic systems can hide messages inside of images or other digital objects. To a casual observer inspecting these images, the messages are invisible. The security of a classical steganographic system relies on the secrecy of the encoding system. Once the encoding system is known, the steganographic system is defeated. However, modern steganography should be detectable only if secret information is known, namely, asecret key. Because of their invasive nature, steganographic systems leave detectable traces within a medium's characteristics. This allows an eavesdropper to detect modified media, revealing that secret communication is taking place. Although the secret content is not exposed, its existence is revealed, which defeats the mainpurpose of steganography. This work has as purpose to expand the field of applicability of the steganography from the classical informatics to the quantum one.
