Abstract

In this paper, we design and analyse the Circuit for Grover’s Quantum Search Algorithm on 2, 3 and 4-qubit systems, in terms of number of gates, representation of state vectors and measurement probability for the state vectors. We designed, examined and simulated the quantum circuit on IBM Q platform using Quantum Programming Studio. We present the theoretical implementation of the search algorithm on different qubit systems. We observe that our circuit design for 2 and 4-qubit systems are precise and do not introduce any error while experiencing a small error to our design of 3-qubit quantum system.

This paper develops and analyzes Grover’s quantum search algorithm in 2- and 3-qubit systems in terms of the number of gates, representation of state vectors, and state vector measurement probabilities. We designed, verified and simulated the quantum circuit using QCAD. We present a theoretical implementation of the search algorithm in different qubit systems. We may observe that our circuit design for 2-qubit systems is accurate and does not allow any error when a small error occurs in the design of a 3-qubit quantum system. it was considered to what extend given information about object of the research is used purposefully in the modeling process, as a result of mathematical analysis of Grover’s method of the quantum algorithm, i.e. it is important to provide the adequacy of the model. The results of the optimization performed with the quantum algorithm based on Grover’s method are presented.

Modelling of Grover’s quantum search algorithms: implementations of Simple quantum simulators on classical computers

Sergey Victorovich Ulyanov, Andrey G. Reshetnikov, Olga Tyatyushkina

Models of Grover’s search algorithm is reviewed to build the foundation for the other algorithms. Thereafter, some preliminary modifications of the original algorithms by others are stated, that increases the applicability of the search procedure. A general quantum computation on an isolated system can be represented by a unitary matrix. In order to execute such a computation on a quantum computer, it is common to decompose the unitary into a quantum circuit, i.e., a sequence of quantum gates that can be physically implemented on a given architecture. There are different universal gate sets for quantum computation. Here we choose the universal gate set consisting of CNOT and single-qubit gates. We measure the cost of a circuit by the number of CNOT gates as they are usually more difficult to implement than single qubit gates and since the number of single-qubit gates is bounded by about twice the number of CNOT’s.

Quantum Minimum Searching Algorithm and Circuit Implementation

Yujin Kang, Jun Heo

This paper addresses the quantum minimum searching algorithm and provides simulation results using qiskit library by IBM Q. We propose a whole procedure to implement the quantum minimum searching algorithm with high accuracy and design a quantum circuit for 5-qubit searching. The circuit consists of several oracles(phase inverter) and Grover operators(amplifier) and a comparator. To implement 5-qubit searching, we suggest three things. Modifying the expected number of iterations described in Section II.C, applying the concept of QRAM as an interface between quantum data and classical data in Section II.D, and designing quantum comparator using constant adder by Thomas in 2017 in Section III.A.

Circuit Simulation and Optimization of Quantum Search Algorithm

Xiaonan Liu, Chenyan Zhao, Haoshan Xie +1 more

At present, the scale of quantum computers in the real sense is still small, and quantum simulation has become one of the important ways of quantum theory research, grover quantum search algorithm is suitable for the search problem of disordered database. Firstly, according to the implementation principle of Grover algorithm and Boolean logic relationship, the design idea of multi-objective Oracle is analyzed, based on IBMQ quantum cloud platform, the quantum circuit of Grover algorithm with multi-objective items is simulated. Based on the characteristics of Grover algorithm and the simulation process of quantum gate, the action of multiple identical quantum gates is combined to reduce the update times of probability amplitude and improve the simulation efficiency. The libquantum quantum simulator is used for experiments and the target item is successfully searched, which proves the feasibility of the optimization method and provides reference for the simulation and optimization of other quantum algorithms.

How to utilize a Grover search in general programming

Shigeru Yamashita

It is widely believed that quantum computers (if realized) will be more powerful than today’s computers from the viewpoint of computational complexity . However, it is not obvious how to utilize quantum computers in practical situations. For practical purposes, a Grover search may be one of the most promising quantum algorithms known so far. Thus, in this paper, we propose an efficient framework where we can use Grover search for general programming. Our framework has the following steps. (1) A programmer writes a program by using standard C++ programming language. (2) Some if expressions within for loops in the C++ source code are chosen as candidates to be performed as a Grover search on a quantum computer. (3) The framework automatically generates a corresponding quantum circuit for each Grover search chosen in (2). Unlike the existing quantum circuit design methods, we can treat large problems in our quantum circuit design. (4) By evaluating the number of primitive quantum gates in the quantum circuit generated in (3), the framework determines whether the processing time of the quantum circuit is faster than the processing time of the corresponding if expression on a classical computer. If the framework determines that the quantum circuit is faster, it generates some interface source codes for a classical computer. Thus, in our framework, a programmer can use a Grover search with almost no effort.

Implementing Grover’s Algorithm on the IBM Quantum Computers

Aamir Mandviwalla, Keita Ohshiro, Bo Ji

This paper focuses on testing the current viability of using quantum computers for the processing of data-driven tasks fueled by emerging data science applications. We test the publicly available IBM quantum computers using Grover's algorithm, a well-known quantum search algorithm, to obtain a baseline for the general evaluations of these quantum devices and to investigate the impacts of various factors such as number of quantum bits (or qubits), qubit choice, and device choice. The main contributions of this paper include a new 4-qubit implementation of Grover's algorithm and test results showing the current capabilities of quantum computers. Our study indicates that quantum computers can currently only be used accurately for solving simple problems with very small amounts of data. There are also notable differences between different selections of the qubits in the implementation design and between different quantum devices that execute the algorithm.
