Abstract

It has been found that logic-qubit entanglement has great potential for applications in quantum communication and quantum networks in recent years. However, along with the effects of noise and decoherence, the fidelity of the communication transmission can be greatly reduced. In this paper, we investigate the entanglement purification of logic bit-flip error and phase-flip error in polarization logic-qubit entanglement based on the parity-check measurement (PCM) gate, which is constructed by the cross-Kerr nonlinearity and used to distinguish the parity information of two-photon polarization states. The probability of entanglement purification is higher than the scheme using the linear optical method. Moreover, the quality of logic-qubit entangled states can be improved by a cyclic purification process. This entanglement purification protocol will be useful in the future when faced with long-distance communication with logic-qubit entanglement states.

Purification of Logic-Qubit Entanglement

Lan Zhou, Yu‐Bo Sheng

Recently, the logic-qubit entanglement shows its potential application in future quantum communication and quantum network. However, the entanglement will suffer from the noise and decoherence. In this paper, we will investigate the first entanglement purification protocol for logic-qubit entanglement. We show that both the bit-flip error and phase-flip error in logic-qubit entanglement can be well purified. Moreover, the bit-flip error in physical-qubit entanglement can be completely corrected. The phase-flip in physical-qubit entanglement error equals to the bit-flip error in logic-qubit entanglement, which can also be purified. This entanglement purification protocol may provide some potential applications in future quantum communication and quantum network.

Efficient entanglement purification for polarization logic Bell state with the photonic Faraday rotation

Zhou, Lan, Yu‐Bo Sheng

Logic-qubit entanglement is a promising resource in quantum information processing, especially in future large-scale quantum networks. In the paper, we put forward an efficient entanglement purification protocol (EPP) for nonlocal mixed logic entangled states with the bit-flip error in the logic qubits of the logic Bell state, resorting to the photon-atom interaction in low-quality (Q) cavity and atomic state measurement. Different from existing EPPs, this protocol can also purify the logic phase-flip error, and the bit-flip error and the phase-flip error in physic qubit. During the protocol, we only require to measure the atom states, and it is useful for improving the entanglement of photon systems in future large-scale quantum networks.

Polarization entanglement purification of nonlocal microwave photons based on the cross-Kerr effect in circuit QED

Hao Zhang, Qian Liu, Xusheng Xu +4 more

Microwave photons have become very important qubits in quantum communication, as the first quantum satellite has been launched successfully. Therefore, it is a necessary and meaningful task for ensuring the high security and efficiency of microwave-based quantum communication in practice. Here, we present an original polarization entanglement purification protocol for nonlocal microwave photons based on the cross-Kerr effect in circuit quantum electrodynamics (QED). Our protocol can solve the problem that the purity of maximally entangled states used for constructing quantum channels will decrease due to decoherence from environment noise. This task is accomplished by means of the polarization parity-check quantum nondemolition (QND) detector, the bit-flipping operation, and the linear microwave elements. The QND detector is composed of several cross-Kerr effect systems which can be realized by coupling two superconducting transmission line resonators to a superconducting molecule with the $N$-type level structure. We give the applicable experimental parameters of QND measurement system in circuit QED and analyze the fidelities. Our protocol has good applications in long-distance quantum communication assisted by microwave photons in the future, such as satellite quantum communication.

Distillation of logic-qubit entanglement assisted with cross-Kerr nonlinearity

Yu‐Bo Sheng, Zhou, Lan

Logic-qubit entanglement has attracted much attention in both quantum communication and quantum computation. Here, we present an efficient protocol to distill the logic-qubit entanglement with the help of cross-Kerr nonlinearity. This protocol not only can purify the logic bit-flip error and logic phase-flip error, but also can correct the physical bit-flip error completely. We use cross-Kerr nonlinearity to construct quantum nondemolition detectors. Our distillation protocol for logic-qubit entanglement may be useful for the practical applications in quantum information, especially in long-distance quantum communication.

Logic Bell state concentration with parity check measurement

Jiu Liu, Lan Zhou, Wei Zhong +1 more

Logic qubit plays an important role in current quantum communication. In this paper, we propose an efficient entanglement concentration protocol (ECP) for a new kind of logic Bell state, where the logic qubit is the concatenated Greenber–Horne–Zeilinger (C-GHZ) state. Our ECP relies on the nondemolition polarization parity check (PPC) gates constructed with cross-Kerr nonlinearity, and can distill one pair of maximally entangled logic Bell state from two same pairs of less-entangled logic Bell states. Benefit from the nondemolition PPC gates, the concentrated maximally entangled logic Bell state can be remained for further application. Moreover, our ECP can be repeated to further concentrate the less-entangled logic Bell state. By repeating the ECP, the total success probability can be effectively increased. Based on above features, this ECP may be useful in future long-distance quantum communication.

Measurement-based logical qubit entanglement purification

Peishun Yan, Lan Zhou, Wei Zhong +1 more

Entanglement purification is the distilling of high-quality entanglement from low-quality entanglement and is a key element in the quantum repeater. As a new branch of entanglement purification, the measurement-based entanglement purification protocol (MBEPP) only requires one to perform the Bell state measurement to couple resource states with noisy pairs, and it tolerates more local noise than the conventional purification protocols. Existing MBEPPs usually focus on physical qubit entanglement. In this paper, we propose a measurement-based logical qubit entanglement purification protocol (MBLEPP) with quantum nondemolition detection (QND), where the qubit is encoded in the quantum parity code. The results show that this MBLEPP can also work with photon loss under the conditions that each block of the logical Bell state measurement contains at least one physical qubit, that at least one of the blocks is intact, and that the entanglement exists between all blocks. Moreover, we also consider the MBLEPP with imperfect QND. We show that below a certain QND error threshold, this MBLEPP can still work. In this way, this MBLEPP not only obtains high-fidelity entanglement but also tolerates photon loss and the error from imperfect QND. This MBLEPP combines the benefits of the MBEPP and quantum error correction code and may have potential application in long-distance quantum communication.
