Abstract

We investigate the dynamics of quantum coherence among multiple diamond nitrogen–vacancy centers (NVCs) coupled to a microsphere whispering-gallery-mode (WGM) cavity under external driving, through numerically simulating the Markovian quantum master equation. We show that quantum coherence (both normal quantum coherence and relative entropy) displays a series of damped oscillations under various experimental situations, which reflects the intricate interplay and competition between the dissipative effects and NVC-WGM coupling. Our results also show that normal quantum coherence is an upper bound for relative entropy. The feasibility of our proposal is supported by currently available experimental techniques.

Entanglement dynamics for three nitrogen-vacancy centers coupled to a whispering-gallery-mode microcavity

Wan-Lu Song, Wanli Yang, Qiong Chen +2 more

The solid-state qubits based on diamond nitrogen-vacancy centers (NVC) are promising for future quantum information processing. We investigate the dynamics of entanglement among three NVCs coupled to a microtoroidal cavity supporting two counter-propagating whispering-gallery-modes (WGMs) in the presence of Rayleigh scattering. Our results indicate that the maximal entanglement among all the NVCs could be achieved through adjusting several key parameters, such as the scattering-induced coupling between the WGMs, the distance between the NVCs, and the NVC-WGM coupling strengths, as well as the frequency detuning between the NVC and cavity. We show that entanglement of the NVCs displays a series of damped oscillations under various experimental situations, which reflects the intricate interplay and competition between the Rayleigh scattering and the NVC-WGM coupling. The quantum dynamics of the system is obtained via solutions to the corresponding microscopic master equation, which agrees well with the numerical simulation results using the phenomenological master equation. The feasibility of our proposal is supported by the application of currently available experimental techniques.

Achieving maximum entanglement between two nitrogen-vacancy centers coupling to a whispering-gallery-mode microresonator

Siping Liu, Jiahua Li, Rong Yu +1 more

We investigate the entanglement generation between two nitrogen-vacancy (NV) centers in diamond nanocrystal coupled to a high-Q counterpropagating twin whispering-gallery modes (WGMs) of a microtoroidal resonator. For looking into the degree and dynamics of the entanglement, we calculate the concurrence using the microscopic master equation approach. The influences of the coupling strength between the WGMs (or the size of the two spherical NV centers), the distance between two NV centers, the frequency detuning between the NV center and microresonator, and the initial state of the system on the dynamics of concurrence are discussed in detail. It is found that the maximum entanglement between the two NV centers can be created by properly adjusting these controllable system parameters. Our results may provide further insight into future solid-state cavity quantum electrodynamics (CQED) system for quantum information engineering.

Local Fisher- and skew-information coherence of two Nitrogen-Vacancy centers induced by two coupled dissipative nanocavities

A-B A Mohamed, Abdel‐Haleem Abdel‐Aty

Abstract The paper investigates the dynamics of the quantum interferometric power and Local quantum uncertainty coherences beyond concurrence entanglement between two Nitrogen-Vacancy centers (NVCs) induced by two coupled dissipative nanocavities. A particular engineering design is considered, where each nanocavity contains a coherently driven N-V center and the two nanocavities are initially in a maximally correlated state with different initial two-NVC states. It is found that, for the initial uncorrelated two-NVC state, the generated two-NVC coherence and the entanglement due to the NVC-nanocavity interactions can be enhanced by the increase of the Nitrogen-Vacancy center’s couplings. The cavity dissipations enhance the generation of Fisher and skew information quantumness of the two-NVC state, and accelerate the reduction of the concurrence entanglement. For the initial maximally correlated two-NVC state, the robustness of the two-NVC coherence and the entanglement against the NVC-nanocavity interactions and the dissipation can be enhanced by the two-nanocavity coupling and the two NVC-qubits couplings.

Quantum dynamics and quantum state transfer between separated nitrogen-vacancy centers embedded in photonic crystal cavities

W. L. Yang, Z. Q. Yin, Zhenyu Xu +2 more

We investigate dynamics of a laser-driven and dissipative system consisting of two nitrogen-vacancy (N-$V$) centers embedded in two spatially separated single-mode nanocavities in a planar photonic crystal (PC). Spontaneous emission from the excited states of the N-$V$ centers can be effectively suppressed by virtue of the Raman transition in the dispersive regime. The system displays a series of damped oscillations under various experimental situations, where we solve the time-dependent Schr\"odinger equation analytically for arbitrary values of the hopping and PC--N-$V$ coupling strengths. In particular, our results indicate that some special values should be taken for the hopping strength if we hope to have high-fidelity quantum state transfer between the two distant N-$V$ centers. We have also analyzed the relevant entanglement dynamics in the presence of decoherence. The experimental feasibility and challenge are justified using currently available technology.

Effect of phase and modes coupling of whispering gallery modes on quantum state transfer between nitrogen vacancy centers

Hamad Ali, Abdul Basit

Abstract We theoretically investigate an efficient scheme for quantum state transfer (QST) between two nitrogen-vacancy (N-V) centers coupled to the whispering gallery modes (WGM) of a micro-resonator. We analyze the impact of mode coupling and the distance between two N-V centers on the dynamics of state transfer. Specifically, we explore QST under three coupling regimes:comparable coupling (J ≃ g), strong mode coupling J ≫ g, and weak mode coupling J ≪ g, also incorporating system decay factors (WGM decay Γ and N-V dephasing γ) at different interparticle distances. Our study shows that by adjusting the system control parameters, quantum information can be transferred between N-V centers with high efficiency. Additionally, the fidelity of QST reaches approximately 99% in all cases, with an oscillatory pattern, reflecting the intricate interplay between NV-resonator and mode coupling strengths. These findings underscore the importance of interparticle distance and mode coupling in the realization of solid-state qubit-based quantum information processing devices.

Coupling of diamond nanocrystals to a high- Q whispering-gallery microresonator

Xiao‐Chong Yu, Yong‐Chun Liu, Meng-Yuan Yan +2 more

We theoretically investigate a cavity quantum electrodynamics system in which a high-$Q$ whispering-gallery-mode (WGM) microresonator interacts with multiple diamond nanocrystals each containing a single nitrogen-vacancy (NV) center. With a tapered fiber waveguide coupling the WGMs, the transmission spectrum of the system exhibits a twofold-splitting phenomenon, where the first fold of splitting originates from the nanocrystals' Rayleigh scattering and the second fold stems from the NV center dipole coupling with the WGMs. The interacting system can serve as a platform to generate quantum entanglement between two NV centers embedded in distant diamond nanocrystals. Our further study reveals that the Rayleigh scattering of the nanocrystals plays a positive role in generating entanglement in some cases. The analytical results show that the relatively strong scattering leads to a larger concurrence for the fixed dipole-cavity detunings. This investigation may hold potential for solid-state quantum information processing applications.
