Abstract

The knowledge and understanding of the technology of quantum computers and their superiority over classical computers are still insufficient or uncertain for many communities of researchers, manufacturers, investors and the general public. For this reason, we try in this article to present and explain some of the basic concepts of quantum computers. We explain how the quantum phenomena may be employed to conceive a quantum computer by defining the qubit that will represent the data entity corresponding to the bit in the classical computer and how this computer can effectively be powerful. We address the issue of strengthening the information system security through a simulation of a spy hunter and the importance of image processing security using the quantum computer, which will minimize the data processing time regardless of the amount of data to be processed. The security of the images will lead us to introduce the new prospects of using multilevel systems instead of binary systems, which will exponentially increase the gain in the size of the memory used.

A perspective on the Development of Quantum Computers and the Security challenges

Abdullah A. Nahi, Laith R. Flaih, Khalid Fadhil Jasim

The amount of data produced and processed every day is increasing exponentially, and reaching unthinkable levels. This amount of data has to be stored and processed by something. While the conventional computers are reaching their limits in data storage and processing, and this dictates the need for a nano sized transistors.Quantum computers can provide genius solution for that issue. Quantum computing is an emerging interdisciplinary field in information technology. This technology acquired its name, because it is based on quantum physics. In this article we present a new perspectiveonthe progress in the research efforts on quantum computing technology and their likelihood to replace the conventional computers and change the way we manipulate data and information. Also we claim this might be the first article in the region tackling quantum technology.

Applications and Challenges of Quantum Image Processing – A Comprehensive Review

Akey Sungheetha

The tremendous parallel processing capability of quantum computers allow quantum image processing, a multidisciplinary field combining image processing and quantum computing, to expand the potential outcomes for image processing. The problem of quantum computation is to create effective quantum algorithms since quantum computers need extremely effective algorithms than classical algorithm. Additionally, information storage, communication, and computing power are increasing in relevance with the number and importance of processing digital images. Some of these issues might be resolved by encoding the visual data in quantum-mechanical systems as opposed to classical methods and by switching from classical to quantum information processing. Moreover, the quantum image processing is analysed based on the recent research works and is summarized. This study projects the application of quantum image processing and challenges.

Quantum computing in image processing: A review of applications, models, and prospects

Keerti Kulkarni, Priyadarshini K Desai

Quantum computing is increasingly being viewed as a promising direction for the future of image processing. Conventional approaches to image classification, enhancement, compression, and restoration, although highly developed, often struggle with scalability, computational complexity, and data security—especially when processing high-dimensional or sensitive visual information. This survey explores how quantum computing can help address these limitations through quantum image representation models such as FRQI and NEQR, variational quantum circuits, and hybrid quantum–classical architectures. The primary objective of this review is to present a clear and structured overview of the current state of quantum image processing (QIP). It discusses foundational representation models, emerging hybrid learning techniques, available software frameworks and simulators, benchmarking practices, and practical applications in areas such as medical imaging, remote sensing, and biometric security. Particular attention is given to solutions that are feasible on today’s NISQ-era hardware, including hybrid architectures and quantum-secured image processing schemes. The survey concludes by identifying existing challenges and outlining realistic future research directions. Overall, it emphasizes the practical importance of hybrid models, the need for standardized quantum-oriented benchmarks, and the growing potential of quantum-based security mechanisms for safeguarding visual data.

Image Processing in Quantum Computers

Aditya Dendukuri, Khoa Luu

Quantum Image Processing (QIP)is an exciting new field showing a lot of promise as a powerful addition to the arsenal of Image Processing techniques. Representing image pixel by pixel using classical information requires an enormous amount of computational resources. Hence, exploring methods to represent images in a different paradigm of information is important. In this work, we study the representation of images in Quantum Information. The main motivation for this pursuit is the ability of storing N bits of classical information in only log(2N) quantum bits (qubits). The promising first step was the exponentially efficient implementation of the Fourier transform in quantum computers as compared to Fast Fourier Transform in classical computers. In addition, images encoded in quantum information could obey unique quantum properties like superposition or entanglement.
