Entanglement Negativity and Concurrence in Some Low-Dimensional Spin Systems

Abstract

The influence of magnon bands on entanglement in the antiferromagnetic XXZ model on a triangular lattice, which models the bilayer structure consisting of an antiferromagnetic insulator and normal metal, is investigated. This effect was studied in ferromagnetic as well as antiferromagnetic triangular lattices. Quantum entanglement measures given by the entanglement negativity have been studied, where a magnon current is induced in the antiferromagnet due to interfacial exchange coupling between localized spins in the antiferromagnet and itinerant electrons in a normal metal. Moreover, quantum correlations in other frustrated models, namely the metal-insulation antiferromagnetic bilayer model and the Heisenberg model with biquadratic and bicubic interactions, are analyzed.

Interplay of entanglement negativity and spin Nernst effect on honeycomb ferromagnet

L.S. Lima

Abstract We investigate the influence of exchange interactions on quantum entanglement and magnon Nernst effect in the two-dimensional ferromagnet on honeycomb lattice. We analyze the effect of the variation induced on spin Nernst coefficient induced by the variation of the exchange parameters on entanglement. We use entanglement negativity as quantifier of entanglement and quantum correlations which is a useful measure to study entanglement in mixed state. Moreover, we studied the spin Nernst coefficient where we get that it tends to zero at T = 0, due to absence of thermally excited magnons at zero temperature. Simulations using Lanczos algorithm and exact diagonalization are performed for a finite size lattice and exhibit a behavior for entanglement negativity different from mean field theory.

Interplay of Spin Nernst Effect and Entanglement Negativity in Layered Ferrimagnets: A Study via Exact Diagonalization

L.S. Lima

In this paper, we analyzed the influence of spin Nernst effect on quantum correlation in the layered ferrimagnetic model. In the study of three-dimensional ferrimagnets, the focus is on materials with a specific arrangement of spins, where neighboring spins are parallel and other antiparallel. The anisotropic nature of these materials means that the interactions between spins depend on their relative orientations in different directions. We analyzed the effect of magnon bands induced by the coupling parameters on entanglement negativity. The influence of the coupling parameters of the topologic phase transition on quantum entanglement is investigated as well. Numerical simulations using Lanczos algorithm and exact diagonalization for different sizes lattice are compared with the results of the spin wave theory.

Frustrated quantum magnetism in the Kondo lattice on the zigzag ladder

Matthias Peschke, Roman Rausch, Michael Potthoff

The interplay between the Kondo effect, indirect magnetic interaction, and geometrical frustration is studied in the Kondo lattice on the one-dimensional zigzag ladder. Using the density-matrix renormalization group, the ground-state and various short- and long-range spin- and density-correlation functions are calculated for the model at half filling as a function of the antiferromagnetic Kondo interaction down to $J=0.3t$, where $t$ is the nearest-neighbor hopping on the zigzag ladder. Geometrical frustration is shown to lead to at least two critical points: Starting from the strong-$J$ limit, where almost local Kondo screening dominates and where the system is a nonmagnetic Kondo insulator, antiferromagnetic correlations between nearest-neighbor and next-nearest-neighbor local spins become stronger and stronger, until at ${J}_{\mathrm{c}}^{\mathrm{dim}}\ensuremath{\approx}0.89t$ frustration is alleviated by a spontaneous breaking of translational symmetry and a corresponding transition to a dimerized state. This is characterized by antiferromagnetic correlations along the legs and by alternating antiferro- and ferromagnetic correlations on the rungs of the ladder. A mechanism of partial Kondo screening that has been suggested for the Kondo lattice on the two-dimensional triangular lattice is not realized in the one-dimensional case. Furthermore, within the symmetry-broken dimerized state, there is a magnetic transition to a ${90}^{\ensuremath{\circ}}$ quantum spin spiral with quasi-long-range order at ${J}_{\mathrm{c}}^{\mathrm{mag}}\ensuremath{\approx}0.84t$. The quantum-critical point is characterized by a closure of the spin gap (with decreasing $J$) and a divergence of the spin-correlation length and of the spin-structure factor $S(q)$ at wave vector $q=\ensuremath{\pi}/2$. This is opposed to the model on the one-dimensional bipartite chain, which is known to have a finite spin gap for all $J>0$ at half filling.

Study of the excited states of the quantum antiferromagnets

Mohammad G. Merdan

We investigate the quantum dynamics of the spins on different Heisenberg antiferromagnetic spin lattice systems. Firstly, we applied the coupled-cluster method to the spin-1/2 antiferromagnetic \emph{XXZ} model on a square lattice by employing an approximation which contains two-body long-range correlations and high-order four-body local correlations. Improvement is found for the ground-state energy, sublattice magnetization, and the critical anisotropy when comparing with the approximation including the two-body correlations alone. We also obtain the full excitation spectrum which is in good agreement with the quantum Monte Carlo results and the high-order spin-wave theory.Secondly, we study the longitudinal excitations of quantum antiferromagnets on a triangular lattice by a recently proposed microscopic many-body approach based on magnon-density waves. We calculate the full longitudinal excitation spectra of the antiferromagnetic Heisenberg model for a general spin quantum number in the isotropic limit. Similar to the square lattice model, we find that, at the center of the first hexagonal Brillouin zone $\Gamma(\mathbf q=0)$ and at the magnetic ordering wavevectors $\pm[\mathbf Q= (4\pi/3,0)]$, the excitation spectra become gapless in the thermodynamic limit, due to the slow, logarithmic divergence of the structure factor. However, these longitudinal modes on two-dimensional models may be considered as quasi-gapped, as any finite-size effect or small anisotropy will induce a large energy gap, when compared with the counterpart of the transverse spin-wave excitations. We have also investigated the excited states of the quasi-one-dimensional quantum antiferromagnets on hexagonal lattices, including the longitudinal modes based on the magnon-density waves. A model Hamiltonian with a uniaxial single-ion anisotropy is first studied by a spin-wave theory based on the one-boson method; the ground state thus obtained is employed for the study of the longitudinal modes. The full energy spectra of both the transverse modes (i.e., magnons) and the longitudinal modes are obtained as functions of the nearest-neighbor coupling and the anisotropy constants. We have found two longitudinal modes due to the non-collinear nature of the triangular antiferromagnetic order, similar to that of the phenomenological field theory approach by Affleck. The excitation energy gaps due to the anisotropy and the energy gaps of the longitudinal modes without anisotropy are then investigated. We then compares our results for the longitudinal energy gaps at the magnetic wavevectors with the experimental results for several antiferromagnetic compounds with both integer and non-integer spin quantum numbers, and we find good agreements after the higher-order contributions are included in our calculations.

Chiral entanglement in triangular lattice models

Dimitris I. Tsomokos, Juan José García‐Ripoll, Nigel R. Cooper +1 more

We consider the low-energy spectrum of spin-$\frac{1}{2}$ two-dimensional triangular lattice models subject to a ferromagnetic Heisenberg interaction and a three spin chiral interaction of variable strength. Initially, we consider quasi-one-dimensional ladder systems of various geometries. Analytical results are derived that yield the behavior of the ground states, their energies, and the transition points. The entanglement properties of the ground state of these models are examined and we find that the entanglement depends on the lattice geometry due to frustration effects. To this end, the chirality of a given quantum state is used as a witness of tripartite entanglement. Finally, the two-dimensional model is investigated numerically by means of exact diagonalization and indications are presented that the low energy sector is a chiral spin liquid.
