Abstract

Abstract We investigate the asymmetric Gaussian steering with the nondegenerate parametric amplifier in a three-mode optomechanical system composed of two optical cavities and a mechanical oscillator. In the presence of the nondegenerate parametric amplifier, we find that the Gaussian steering between the auxiliary cavity and the mechanical resonator without direct interaction is significantly enhanced. By cooling the delocalized Bogoliubov modes over the auxiliary cavity and the mechanical oscillator, the optimal optomechanical entanglement and Gaussian steering can be realized and enhanced. Furthermore, we observe a wider range of parameters for the Gaussian steering with the case of cooling double delocalized modes. In addition, the magnitudes of the asymmetric Gaussian steering in two different directions can be adjusted by altering the decay rate of the auxiliary optical mode. Therefore, our proposal provides an effective method to manipulate and enhance the one-way Gaussian steering between the two modes.

Manipulation and enhancement of Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen steering between two mechanical modes generated by two Bogoliubov dissipation pathways

Qi Guo, Mei‐Rong Wei, Cheng‐Hua Bai +3 more

We consider a three-mode optomechanical system in which two mechanical oscillators are independently coupled to a cavity mode driven by two controllable lasers. By controlling the two-tone driving, one can prepare the entanglement and Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen (EPR) steering of two mechanical modes, in which the cavity mode acts as a single reservoir to cool two Bogoliubov modes. We find that the direction of EPR steering can be manipulated effectively by adjusting the damping rates and the thermal noises of two mechanical modes. In addition, we show that the entanglement and EPR steering between two mechanical modes can be enhanced by adding a parametric amplifier (PA) into the cavity. The effects of the strength and phase of the PA on the mechanical entanglement and EPR steering are analyzed and discussed in detail. Meanwhile, the additional PA can also expand the region of the one-way steering and strengthen the robustness of the entanglement and EPR steering against the thermal noise. The present scheme may provide effective resources for quantum information processing.

Enhancement of mechanical entanglement and asymmetric steering with coherent feedback

Rui Peng, Chengsong Zhao, Zhen Yang +2 more

We propose a scheme to enhance entanglement and asymmetric steering between two mechanical oscillators in an optomechanical system with coherent feedback control. In the system, an optical cavity interacts with two mechanical oscillators and an auxiliary cavity whose output field is fed back into the input port of the optical cavity via a feedback loop. Due to the coherence between the auxiliary cavity and feedback, we derive the effective decay rate and a nonzero frequency shift of the optical cavity. Consequently, the induced beam-splitter-type and parametric-type interactions between the two mechanical oscillators are modulated, which leads to the enhancement of entanglement and the generation of asymmetric steering even if the two mechanical oscillators possess identical decoherence properties. And the direction of asymmetric steering can be controlled by tuning the jumping phase between two cavities and optimizing the ratio of drive asymmetry. In contrast to the method of adding losses or noises to one subsystem at the cost of reducing steerability, this scheme provides an active way to achieve enhanced asymmetric steering. Furthermore, the steady-state and dynamical entanglement and asymmetric steering can be generated in the unresolved-sideband regime, which is friendly for experimental implementation.

Steady-state one-way Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen steering in optomechanical interfaces

Huatang Tan, Xincheng Zhang, Gao‐xiang Li

Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen (EPR) steering is a form of quantum correlation and its intrinsic asymmetry makes it distinct from entanglement and Bell nonlocality. We propose here a scheme for realizing one-way Gaussian steering of two electromagnetic fields mediated by a mechanical oscillator. We reveal that the steady-state one-way steering of the intracavity and output fields is obtainable with different cavity losses or strong mechanical damping. The conditions for achieving this asymmetric steering are found, and it shows that the steering is robust against thermal mechanical fluctuations. The present scheme can realize hybrid microwave-optical asymmetric steering by optoelectromechanics. In addition, our results are generic and can also be applied to other three-mode parametrically coupled bosonic systems.

Enhanced Entanglement and Controlling Quantum Steering in a Laguerre–Gaussian Cavity Optomechanical System with Two Rotating Mirrors

Amjad Sohail, Zaheer Abbas, Rizwan Ahmed +3 more

Abstract Gaussian quantum steering is a type of quantum correlation in which two entangled states exhibit asymmetry. An efficient theoretical proposal is presented for the control of quantum steering and enhancement of entanglement in a Laguerre–Gaussian (LG) cavity optomechanical system. The system contains two rotating mirrors and a coherently driven optical parametric amplifier (OPA). The numerical results show significantly improved mirror‐mirror and mirror‐cavity entanglements by controlling the system parameters such as parametric gain, parametric phase, and the frequency of the two rotating mirrors. In addition to bipartite entanglement, our system also exhibits mirror‐cavity‐mirror tripartite entanglement as well. Another intriguing finding is the control of quantum steering, for which several results were obtained by investigating it for various system parameters. It is shown that the steering directivity is primarily determined by the frequency of two rotating mirrors. Furthermore, for two rotating mirrors, quantum steering is found to be asymmetric both one‐way and two‐way. Therefore, it can be asserted that the current proposal may help in the understanding of non‐local correlations and entanglement verification tasks.

Markovian-feedback-controlled entanglement and Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen steering in a nondegenerate optical parametric oscillator

Benyuan Zhou, Ni Pan, Li Yu +1 more

We propose a scheme to manipulate entanglement and the direction of asymmetric Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen (EPR) steering between two interacting bosonic modes in a nonlinear optical apparatus, in which a pumped Fabry-P\'erot cavity system containing two nonlinear waveguides is coupled to two feedback loops. It is found that Markovian feedback plays a key role in controlling both entanglement and EPR steering, the maximal entanglement can only be achieved through two symmetric feedback loops, while one-way EPR steering can only occur when both asymmetric feedback loops and an unbalanced beam-splitter are satisfied simultaneously. Furthermore, in terms of an unequal beam-splitter and two different feedback loops, it is demonstrated that the directionality and extent of the asymmetric EPR steering can be readily controlled under certain conditions. A simple and sufficient condition is also revealed for generating two-way EPR steering. Moreover, the entanglement and EPR steering can be effectively enhanced by performing Markovian feedback. In addition, By choosing appropriate feedback strengths, two cavity modes can be driven into a pure two-mode squeezed vacuum state rather than a mixed two-mode Gaussian entangled state or a pure entangled dark state. We hope the proposed scheme will enhance our understanding of the fundamental asymmetry of EPR steering, and it may have potential applications in quantum computation and quantum communication.

Manipulating the direction of one-way steering in an optomechanical ring cavity

Jamal El Qars, Benachir Boukhris, Ahmed Tirbiyine +1 more

Quantum steering refers to the apparent possibility of exploiting nonseparable quantum correlations to remotely influence the quantum state of an observer via local measurements. Different from entanglement and Bell nonlocality, quantum steering exhibits an inherent asymmetric property, which makes it relevant for many asymmetric quantum information processing tasks. Here, we study Gaussian quantum steering between two mechanical modes in an optomechanical ring cavity. Using experimentally feasible parameters, we show that the state of the two considered modes can exhibit two-way steering and even one-way steering. Instead of using unbalanced losses or noises, we propose a simple practical way to control the direction of one-way steering. A comparative study between the steering and entanglement of the studied modes shows that both steering and entanglement undergo a sudden death-like behavior. In particular, steering is found more fragile against thermal noise remaining constantly upper-bounded by entanglement. The proposed scheme may be meaningful for one-sided device-independent quantum key distribution, where the security of such protocol depends fundamentally on the direction of steering.
