The synthesis of white-laser source based on the frequency conversion with the Stark-chirped rapid adiabatic passage

Ting Wan, Tengfei Wang, Handa Zhang +1 more

In this paper, an efficient cascaded sum frequency generation (SFG) model based on Stark-chirped rapid adiabatic passage is established, in which the laser of signal, intermediate, and output corresponds to three primary, and an approach of white laser source synthesis is proposed. The research results show that the energy of the red laser can be almost converted into blue laser, while the green laser intensity is extremely low in the cascade SFG process. The farther away from the optimal coupling delay parameters, the smaller the corresponding conversion efficiency is. Meanwhile, the pump intensity has a larger control range for conversion efficiency. On the basis of these findings, a white laser source with a color temperature of 6500 K can be synthesized. We first roughly adjust the pump intensity to reduce the conversion efficiency so that the red, green and blue lasers coexist at the output. Then, we fine-tune the coupling delay parameters so that the output power ratio meets 0.61:0.28:0.11. These research results can provide a theoretical basis for achieving efficient frequency conversion and the development of new optical devices.

Decoherence-free preparation of Dicke states of trapped ions by collective stimulated Raman adiabatic passage

I. E. Linington, Nikolay V. Vitanov

We propose a simple technique for the generation of arbitrary-sized Dicke states in a chain of trapped ions. The method uses global addressing of the entire chain by two pairs of delayed but partially overlapping laser pulses to engineer a collective adiabatic passage along a multi-ion dark state. Our technique, which is a many-particle generalization of the stimulated Raman adiabatic passage technique, is decoherence free with respect to spontaneous emission and robust against moderate fluctuations in the experimental parameters. Furthermore, because the process is very rapid, the effects of heating are almost negligible under realistic experimental conditions. We predict that the overall fidelity of synthesis of a Dicke state involving ten ions sharing two excitations should approach 98% with currently achievable experimental parameters.

One-component dynamical equation and noise-induced adiabaticity

Jun Jing, Lian-Ao Wu, Ting Yu +3 more

The adiabatic theorem addresses the dynamics of a target instantaneous eigenstate of a time-dependent Hamiltonian. We use a Feshbach P-Q partitioning technique to derive a closed one-component integro-differential equation. The resultant equation properly traces the footprint of the target eigenstate. The physical significance of the derived dynamical equation is illustrated by both general analysis and concrete examples. We find an interesting phenomenon showing that a dephasing white noise can enhance and even induce adiabaticity. This phenomenon, distinguishing itself from any artificial control process, may occur in natural physical processes. We also show that particular white noises can shorten the total duration of dynamic processing, such as in adiabatic quantum computing.
