Abstract

Abstract We develop the Darboux procedure for the case of the two‐level system. In particular, it is demonstrated that one can construct the Darboux intertwining operator that does not violate the specific structure of the equations of the two‐level system, transforming only one real potential into another real potential. We apply the obtained Darboux transformation to known exact solutions of the two‐level system. Thus, we find three classes of new solutions for the two‐level system and the corresponding new potentials that allow such solutions.

Analytic dynamics of coupled two-level systems

Razmik G. Unanyan, Stig Stenholm

We solve a problem of quantum dynamics of two coupled Schr\"odinger equations. Utilizing a matrix transformation analogous to the Darboux method we find analytic solutions valid in special cases, ``quasiexact solutions.'' The general conditions for matrix Darboux transformations are formulated. The method is applied to a special case of wave-packet dynamics.

Distortion of a phase space under the Darboux transformation

B. F. Samsonov

The Darboux transformation operator technique is applied to construct exactly solvable anharmonic singular oscillator potentials and to study their coherent states. Classical system corresponding to a transformed quantum system is constructed with the help of the coherent states technique. It is shown that at classical level the Darboux transformation may be treated as a transformation of Kähler potential, which leads to a distortion of the initial phase space.

On a Class of Hairy Square Barriers and Gamow Vectors

Nicolás Fernández-García

The second order Darboux‐Gamow transformation is applied to deform square one dimensional barriers in non‐relativistic quantum mechanics. The initial and the new “hairy” potentials have the same transmission probabilities (for the appropriate parameters). In general, new Gamow vectors are constructed as Darboux deformations of the initial ones.

Spin equation and its solutions

Abstract The aim of the present article is to study in detail the so‐called spin equation (SE) and present both the methods of generating new solution and a new set of exact solutions. We recall that the SE with a real external field can be treated as a reduction of the Pauli equation to the (0+1)‐dimensional case. Two‐level systems can be described by an SE with a particular form of the external field. In this article, we also consider associated equations that are equivalent or (in one way or another) related to the SE. We describe the general solution of the SE and solve the inverse problem for this equation. We construct the evolution operator for the SE and consider methods of generating new sets of exact solutions. Finally, we find a new set of exact solutions of the SE.

Darboux transformations and coherent interaction of the light pulse with two-level media

Vladimir Borisovich Matveev, Mikhail A. Salle, Andrei V. Rybin

Applications of the Darboux transformation method to study the reduced Maxwell-Bloch (RMB) system and of the self-induced transparency (SIT) equations are considered. Both systems describe the propagation of ultrashort optical pulses in a two-level medium to a reasonable approximation. The main result of the present work is the construction of multisoliton solutions on an arbitrary background for RMB and SIT equations. Particular cases of these solutions are discussed in some detail.

Exact solution of a master equation applied to the two-level system of an atom

Kazuyuki Fujii

In this paper we discuss a master equation applied to the two-level system of an atom and derive an exact solution to it in an abstract manner. We also present a problem and a conjecture based on the three-level system. Our results may give a small hint to understand the huge transition from Quantum World to Classical World. To the best of our knowledge this is the finest method up to the present.
