Lax pair formulation for the open boundary Osp(1∣2) spin chain

Abstract

Abstract Based on the Lax pair formulation, we study the integrable conditions of the Osp(1∣2) spin chain with open boundaries. We consider both the non-graded and graded versions of the Osp(1∣2) chain. The Lax pair operators M ± for the boundaries can be induced by the Lax operator M j for the bulk of the system. They correspond to the reflection equations (RE) and the Yang–Baxter equation, respectively. We further calculate the boundary K-matrices for both the non-graded and graded versions of the model with open boundaries. The double row monodromy matrix and transfer matrix of the spin chain have also been constructed. The K-matrices obtained from the Lax pair formulation are consistent with those from Sklyanin’s RE. This construction is another way to prove the quantum integrability of the Osp(1∣2) chain. We find that the Lax pair formulation has advantages in dealing with the boundary terms of the supersymmetric model.

Lax pair formulation for one-dimensional Hubbard open chain with chemical potential

Xi‐Wen Guan, Mei‐Shan Wang, Shan‐De Yang

The Lax pair for the one-dimensional Hubbard spin chain with open boundary conditions (BC) is explicitly constructed and two different kinds of boundary K-matrices compatible with the integrability of the model are obtained. Our construction provides an alternative and direct demonstration for the quantum integrability of the model and it is found that the model is related to a class of commuting transfer matrices of an equivalent coupled asymmetric six-vertex model with open BC. Our results show that the chemical potential term is indeed nontrivial for the underlying algebraic structure of the model.

Supersymmetric Extension of the Reflection Equation Algebra and Integrable Boundary Conditions in Doped Spin-1 Model

Xiangyu Ge, Miki Wadati

The reflection equation algebra of Sklyanin is extended to the supersymmetric case. A graded reflection equation algebra is proposed and the corresponding graded (supersymmetric) boundary quantum inverse scattering method (QISM) is formulated. As an application, integrable open-boundary conditions for the doped spin-1 chain of the supersymmetric t – J model are studied in the framework of the boundary QISM. Diagonal boundary K -matrices are found and four classes of integrable boundary terms are determined.

Graded reflection equations and the one-dimensional small-polaron open chain

Huan-Qiang Zhou

The graded reflection equations are presented to describe quantum integrable lattice fermion open chains on a finite interval with independent boundary conditions on each end. Specifically, the general boundary K supermatrices are determined for the one-dimensional small-polaron open chain. The result is consistent with the system under study admitting Lax pair formulation.

Integrability of open boundary driven quantum circuits

Chiara Paletta, Tomaž Prosen

In this paper, we address the problem of Yang-Baxter integrability of doubled quantum circuit of qubits (spins 1/2) with open boundary conditions where the two circuit replicas are only coupled at the left or right boundary. We investigate the cases where the bulk is given by elementary six vertex unitary gates of either the free fermionic XX type or interacting XXZ type. By using the Sklyanin’s construction of reflection algebra, we obtain the most general solutions of the boundary Yang-Baxter equation for such a setup. We use this solution to build, from the transfer matrix formalism, integrable circuits with two step discrete time Floquet (aka brickwork) dynamics. We prove that, only if the bulk is a free-model, the boundary matrices are in general non-factorizable, and for particular choice of free parameters yield non-trivial unitary dynamics with boundary interaction between the two chains. Then, we consider the limit of continuous time evolution and we give the interpretation of a restricted set of the boundary terms in the Lindbladian setting. Specifically, for a particular choice of free parameters, the solutions correspond to an open quantum system dynamics with the source terms representing injecting or removing particles from the boundary of the spin chain.

A Q-Operator for Open Spin Chains II: Boundary Factorization

Alec Cooper, Bart Vlaar, Robert Weston

Abstract One of the features of Baxter’s Q-operators for many closed spin chain models is that all transfer matrices arise as products of two Q-operators with shifts in the spectral parameter. In the representation-theoretical approach to Q-operators, underlying this is a factorization formula for L-operators (solutions of the Yang–Baxter equation associated to particular infinite-dimensional representations). To extend such a formalism to open spin chains, one needs a factorization identity for solutions of the reflection equation (boundary Yang–Baxter equation) associated to these representations. In the case of quantum affine $$\mathfrak {sl}_2$$ sl 2 and diagonal K-matrices, we derive such an identity using the recently formulated theory of universal K-matrices for quantum affine algebras.

Quantum Lax Pair From Yang-Baxter Equations

A. Lima-Santos

We show explicitly how to construct the quantum Lax pair for systems with open boundary conditions. We demonstrate the method by applying it to the Heisenberg XXZ model with general integrable boundary terms.
