Phase diagram of the mixed spin Ising model with four-spin interaction and nextnearest neighbor couplings

Majid Mouhib, Mouhcine Azhari, Noureddine Benayad

The phase diagrams of the ferromagnetic two-dimensional mixed spin-1 and spin-1/2 Ising model with four-spin interaction J4 and next-nearest couplings J’ are investigated by the use of the finite cluster approximation based on single-site cluster theory. The state equations are derived for the two-dimensional square lattice. The phase diagram is qualitatively and quantitatively different from that obtained when the interaction J’ is ignored. In fact, the system exhibits a variety of interesting features resulting from the introduction of the next-nearest neighbor interaction (NNN). It undergoes two kinds of behavior according to the negative and the positive value of J’. In particular, for J4/J2=-4, the system keeps the coexistence of the two ground state up to J’-dependent finite temperature.

Ground-state phase diagram of Gaussian-core bosons in two dimensions

Peter Kroiß, Massimo Boninsegni, Lode Pollet

The ground state of a two-dimensional (2D) system of Bose particles of spin zero, interacting via a repulsive Gaussian-core potential, has been investigated by means of quantum Monte Carlo simulations. The quantum phase diagram is qualitatively identical to that of 2D Yukawa bosons. While the system is a fluid at all densities for weak coupling, in the strong-coupling regime it transitions upon compression from a low-density superfluid to a crystal, and then into a reentrant superfluid phase. No evidence of a (supersolid) cluster crystal phase is seen.

Phase diagram of the ferrimagnetic mixed-spin Blume-Capel model with four-spin and next-nearest neighbor interactions

Mouhcine Azhari, Noureddine Benayad, Majid Mouhib

A finite cluster approximation based on a single cluster theory is developed for a ferrimagnetic mixed spin-1/2 and spin-1 Blume-Capel model with four-spin interaction J 4 and next-nearest neighbor couplings J '. The state equations are derived for the two-dimensional square lattice and the phase diagram is explored. We found that the system can exhibits both critical and tricritical behavior according to appropriate values of J ', D and J 4 .
