Abstract

Cascaded spontaneous parametric downconversion is used to produce entangled photon triplets, although poor efficiency limits rates. As a solution, we propose trapping photons in an active cavity, giving them many chances at downconversion.

We show that efficient generation of photon triplets from integrated resonant structures is possible. The genuinely tripartite entangled triplets are generated by cascading spontaneous parametric down-conversion and four-wave mixing.

We discuss a novel method of efficiently producing multi-photon states using repeated spontaneous parametric downconversion. By attempting downconversion several times, we can pseudo-deterministically add photons to a mode, producing various several-photon states.

Spontaneous parametric downconversion is an important process for providing pairs of photons for quantum optics. We discuss a scheme for eliminating undesired inter-photon correlations inherent in this process, and an efficient characterization of spectral correlations.

Two-Photon Optics: Imaging below the diffraction limit

Imaging properties of an optical system are limited by the wave nature of light. Entangled photons allow an improvement in resolution [1]. We show an experimental realisation using entangled photons from a Spontaneous Parametric Downconversion source.
