Protecting quantum entanglement in thermal reservoir by detuning

Abstract

Abstract In this work, the quantum entanglement dynamics of a two-atom system in the thermal reservoir is investigated. An analytical solution of the single atom in the thermal reservoir and the expression of the quantum entanglement of the two-atom system in the thermal reservoir are obtained by the Markovian master equation method. The results showed that the nonzero temperature leads to sudden death of entanglement under the weak coupling limit. The higher the temperature, the faster the decay of entanglement. In particular, the detuning and the smaller spectrum width in the weak atom-reservoir coupling regime can effectively protect the quantum entanglement of the two-atom system in the thermal reservoir under the weak atom-reservoir coupling regime. The corresponding physical explanation is given by the entropy production rare.

Discord and entanglement in non-Markovian environments at finite temperatures

Hong-Mei Zou, Mao-Fa Fang

The dynamic evolutions of the discord and entanglement of two atoms immersed in two independent Lorentzian reservoirs at zero and finite temperatures have been investigated by using the time-convolutionless master-equation method. Our results show that, nonzero temperature can induce the entanglement sudden death and accelerate the decays of discord and entanglement. The discord and the entanglement have different robustness for different initial states and their robustness may change under certain conditions. When both the non-Markovian effect and detuning are present simultaneously, due to the memory and feedback effect of non-Markovian reservoirs, the discord and entanglement can be effectively protected even at nonzero temperature by increasing the non-Markovian effect and the detuning.

Sudden birth and death of entanglement of two atoms in a finite temperature reservoir

R. Tanaś, Z. Ficek

We discuss the evolution of entanglement for a system of two two-level atoms interacting with a common reservoir at finite temperature. The Markovian master equation is used to describe the evolution of entanglement measured by concurrence. The phenomena of sudden birth and sudden death of entanglement are discussed. It is shown that entanglement sudden death is a standard feature when the reservoir has finite temperature. Entanglement sudden birth, which is the result of the collective behaviour of atoms, appears only for a sufficiently small mean number of photons of the reservoir (sufficiently low temperatures), and it gradually diminishes as the temperature increases. The results are illustrated for the system prepared in the Werner state.

Atomic motion and dipole–dipole effects on the stability of atom–atom entanglement in Markovian/non-Markovian reservoir

Sare Golkar, Mohammad Kazem Tavassoly

In this paper, we consider the entanglement dynamics of two identical qubits (two-level atoms) accompanied by dipole–dipole interaction within a common reservoir in the strong and weak coupling regimes. We suppose that the qubits move in the reservoir which is at zero temperature. Using the time-dependent Schrödinger equation, the state vector of the qubits-reservoir system is obtained by which we can evaluate the concurrence as a suitable measure of entanglement between the two qubits. The results show that by choosing special initial conditions for the qubits, a different dynamical behavior of entanglement is visible in such a way that entanglement protection occurs. Also, we find that the qubit motion in the absence of dipole–dipole interaction leads to preservation or at least more slowly decay of entanglement. However, in the presence of dipole–dipole interaction with the movement of qubits, different results can be observed which depend on the initial states of the qubits, i.e. entanglement may or may not be protected.

Entanglement dynamics of a pure bipartite system in dissipative environments

Rabia Tahira, Manzoor Ikram, Tasnim Azim +1 more

We investigate the phenomenon of sudden death of entanglement in a bipartite system subjected to dissipative environments with arbitrary initial pure entangled state between two atoms. We find that in a vacuum reservoir the presence of the state where both atoms are in excited states is a necessary condition for the sudden death of entanglement. Otherwise entanglement remains for an infinite time and decays asymptotically with the decay of individual qubits. For pure 2-qubit entangled states in a thermal environment, we observe that the sudden death of entanglement always happens. The sudden death time of the entangled states is related to the temperature of the reservoir and the initial preparation of the entangled states.

Non-Markovian Dynamics of Entanglement for Multipartite Systems

Jiang Zhou, Chengjun Wu, Mingyi Zhu +1 more

Abstract. Entanglement dynamics for a couple of two-level atoms interacting with independent structured reservoirs is studied using a non-perturbative approach. It is shown that the revival of atom entanglement is not necessarily accompanied by the sudden death of reservoir entanglement, and vice versa. In fact, atom entanglement can revive before, simultaneously or even after the disentanglement of reservoirs. Using a novel method based on the population analysis for the excited atomic state, we present the quantitative criteria for the revival and death phenomena. For giving a more physically intuitive insight, the quasimode Hamiltonian method is applied. Our quantitative analysis is helpful for the practical engineering of entanglement.

Entanglement dynamics of three atoms in optical cavity coupled to reservior

Xing Gui-Chao, Yun‐Jie Xia

Quantum entanglement is one of most remarkable features of quantum mechanics, and in recent years it has played a more and more important role in quantum information. However, real quantum system inevitably interacts with the environment, resulting in the entanglement decay or even entanglement sudden death,so it is necessary to study the entanglement dynamical properties of an open system under different environments. In this paper,we investigate the entanglement dynamic behaviors of three interacting two-level atoms in an optical cavity which is coupled to a structured zero-temperature bosonic reservoir.Laplace transform,LBC and other methods are utilized, through numerical method we analyze the entanglement dynamic behavios of tripartite of three atoms and bipartite of cavity and reservoir. We also discuss how the coupling parameters affect the entanglement dynamics. Results show that in a short time, the entanglement of tripartite increases with coupling strength of three atoms increasing, and a periodic oscillation appears, but entanglement of bipartite decreases. The entanglement of tripartite decreases with the coupling strength between atoms and cavity increasing and damping oscillation appears, but the entanglement of bipartite increases. In a long-time limit, the entanglement approaches to a steady value. The non-Markovian dynamics of the qubits is determined by both the coupling strength and the spectral width. The strong system-reservoir coupling regime results in the non-Markovian dynamics of system. As the spectral width increases, the system of three atoms transforms from non-Markovian regime to Markovian regime. The increasing of spectral width results in the Markovian dynamic behavior of system, but the system of the atoms falls into the non-Markovian regime once more. When the coupling between the cavity and reservoir is weak, the entanglement of three atoms increases as the detuning of the cavity and reservoir increases, but it is not obvious. When the coupling between the cavity and reservoir is strong, the entanglement of three atoms increases and a periodic oscillation appears with increasing the detuning between the cavity and reservoir,so we can effectively restrain the effects of dissipation of reservoir on entanglement decay by adjusting the detuning between the cavity and reservoir.
