Abstract

Transmission of information in the form of qubits much faster than the speed of light is the important aspects of quantum information theory. Quantum information processing exploits the quantum nature of information that needs to be stored, encoded, transmit, receive and decode the information in the form of qubits. Bosonic channels appear to be very attractive for the physical implementation of quantum communication. This paper does the study of quantum channels and how best it can be implemented with the existing infrastructure that is the classical communication. Multiple access to the quantum network is the requirement where multiple users want to transmit their quantum information simultaneously without interfering with each others

Quantum multiplexing for quantum networking and distributed quantum computation

William J. Munro, Nicoló Lo Piparo, Kae Nemoto

Tomorrows future quantum-internet will need to support a wide range of operations including those arising from quantum-communication, distributed quantum computation and quantum remote sensing tasks. Such applications require the transmission of quantum information across the network where channel losses are a serious problem. Here we introduce the concept of quantum multiplexing to reduce the severity of this issue where multiple-qubits of information are encoded onto each transmitted photon. We will show how one not only saves on the number of photons needed but also on the physical resources required within the network nodes. We will discuss the implementations of quantum multiplexing in various networking applications.

Quantum Multiplexing for Quantum Computer Networks

Juan Carlos García-Escartín, Pedro Chamorro‐Posada

In communication networks many different channels must share a limited amount of resources. In order to allow for multiple simultaneous communications, multiple access techniques are routinely employed. With quantum communication, it is possible to share a new kind of resource. All of the system channels can be accommodated into a single channel in a larger Hilbert space. In the scheme, a single line combines the information of all the users, and, at the receiver, the original quantum channels are recovered. The given multiplexer/demultiplexer circuit can perform this n qubits to qudit transformation. Connections with superdense coding and classical multiple access schemes are discussed.

Quantum multiplexing and aggregation in quantum networking

William J. Munro, Nicoló Lo Piparo, Kae Nemoto

Quantum communication will be at the heart of many future quantum technologies providing the foundation to for them to coherently interact. Here we introduce the concepts of quantum multiplexing and aggregation for use in such quantum communication related tasks. Quantum multiplexing involves encoding multiple-qubits of information onto each transmitted photon and allows us to significantly reduce the effect channel losses have within those tasks. Next quantum aggregation allows quantum messages to be divided and transmitted in a coherent way over different paths when resources in given paths are limited. We will discuss potential implementations and the resources required.

Optimization and synchronization of programmable quantum and communication channels

Venkateswara R. Dasari, Mee Seong Im

Quantum applications transmit and receive data through quantum and classical communication channels. Channel capacity, the distance and the photon path between transmitting and receiving parties and the speed of the computation links play an essential role in timely synchronization and delivery of information using classical and quantum channels. In this study, we analyze and optimize the parameters of the communication channels needed for the quantum application to successfully operate. We also develop algorithms for synchronizing data delivery on classical and quantum channels.

QUANTUMINTERNET

Matthew N. O. Sadiku, David Padi, Janet O. Sadiku

Today’s Internetis a global communications network used to transfer, process, and store classical information. The quantum Internetis a hypothetical high-speed Internetthat provides ultra-secure connectivity to quantum devices across the globe. Itis a network of quantum computers that will someday send, compute, and receive information encoded in quantum states. It is a communications network that will transform industries, increase security, and alter the way we transmit information. While quantum computers exist in the physical world, the concept of quantumInternetis currently theoretical. In its infant form, the quantum Internetpromises to make the digital domain safer, more productive, and more powerful than ever before. In this study, we provide a primer on quantum Internet, which provides a large-scale application of advanced quantum communication technologies and protocols.
