Quantum blockchain: Trends, technologies, and future directions

Manjula Gandhi S, Chaitrali Mulay, Karthiganesh Durai +13 more

Abstract Blockchain technology is a highly developed database system that shares information within a business web. It stores details in blocks connected chronologically, ensuring information integrity through consensus mechanisms that prevent unauthorised alterations. This decentralised system removes the need for a believable mediator, mitigating vulnerabilities and enhancing transaction security. Blockchain’s application spans the energy, finance, media, entertainment, and retail sectors. However, classical blockchain faces threats from quantum computing advancements, necessitating the development of quantum blockchain technology. Quantum blockchain, leveraging quantum computation and information theory, offers enhanced security and immutability. In this paper, different mathematical foundations, practical implementations and effectiveness of lattice‐based cryptography in securing blockchain applications are discussed. Analysis of how the cryptographic techniques can protect blockchain systems against quantum attacks is being done by using mathematical formulations and examples. Quantum computing strengthens blockchain security with advanced encryption and authentication, which is critical for safeguarding diverse sectors from evolving cyber threats. Further study on quantum‐resistant design is necessary if blockchain networks are to be robust and intact in the face of future technological developments.

Integrating Quantum Blockchain and AI for Secure Healthcare Systems: Architecture and Future Directions

J.Sivarani, B.JayaVijaya, C. Meena

The rapid evolution of healthcare systems, coupled with advancements in the Internet of Medical Things (IoMT), has introduced unprecedented security and privacy challenges. Traditional security solutions fail to address emerging threats posed by quantum computing and AI-driven cyberattacks. This paper proposes an Integrative Quantum Blockchain and AI-Driven Security Framework for Healthcare Systems, incorporating Quantum Key Distribution (QKD), Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC), and AI-powered threat detection. The proposed framework enhances data integrity, authentication, and resistance against cyber threats, while optimizing energy efficiency. This paper presents the architecture, security benefits, performance analysis, and future research directions for integrating quantum blockchain and AI in healthcare security.

Exploring the Future of Quantum Computing-Enabled Blockchain Development: A Survey

Zhijian Li, Peng Zhu

With the advancement and application of blockchain technology, its limitations in security, performance, and other aspects have become increasingly prominent. The cryptographic foundations that blockchain relies on are facing significant threats from quantum computing, rendering traditional schemes difficult to transplant directly into the quantum environment. Consequently, exploring the deep integration of quantum information technology with blockchain and constructing a new generation of blockchain systems resistant to quantum attacks has become a research hotspot. This paper aims to review the current research status of quantum computing-enabled blockchain development, analyze the key scientific issues it faces, and anticipate future directions. Quantum blockchain is expected to fundamentally address many of the current blockchain system’s pain points and provide technical support for constructing a safe and efficient distributed value system.
