Abstract

Quantum entanglement is one of the essences of quantum mechanics and quantum information theory. It is a physical phenomenon in which entangled particles remain correlated with each other regardless of the distance between them. Quantum entanglement plays a significant role in areas such as quantum computing, quantum cryptography, and quantum teleportation. Quantifying entanglement is important for determining the depth of the entanglement level and has an impact on quantum information tasks performance. Entanglement classification is critical in quantum information theory for determining the class of states in a quantum system. The entanglement classification of two qubits as separable or entangled has been established. The classification of multiqubit entanglement is more challenging, especially in higher-qubit systems. The goal of this study is to identify different established measurements for entanglement quantification and entanglement classification methods through a systematic literature review. Indexed articles between 2017 and 2021 were selected as secondary resources from several sources based on specific keywords. This study presents a conceptual framework of entanglement quantification and classification based on previous studies.

Entanglement Detection: A Scoping Review

Amirul Asyraf Zhahir, Siti Munirah Mohd, Mohd Ilias M Shuhud +4 more

Quantum entanglement is a critical physical process in quantum mechanics and quantum information theory. It is a required process in quantum computing, quantum teleportation, and quantum cryptography. Entanglement detection affects the performance of quantum information processing tasks. Entanglement detection has grown in popularity over the years, and various entanglement detection methods are available, though some have application and system scale limitations. This scoping review sought to identify various measurement methods for entanglement detection in both bipartite and multipartite entanglement systems. Secondary resource indexed literatures were selected based on specific keywords from literatures published between 2017 and 2021. The goal of this study is to present a proposed conceptual framework of entanglement detection based on previous work as a guidance and reference founded on one’s specific requirements.

Quantum Entanglement and Its Classification Protocols

Amirul Asyraf Zhahir, Siti Munirah Mohd, Mohd Sham Mohamad +4 more

Quantum entanglement has its own major role in quantum information theory. Its application in numerous areas namely quantum computing, quantum cryptography and quantum teleportation are proven vital and essential. Over the last decades, the interests in quantum entanglement have grown and significant progress in quantum computing has been revealed. However, the classification of entanglement was proved to be challenging especially in a higher qubit-dimensional system setting. In this review, indexed literature as the secondary resource was chosen by specific keywords from several database. In reference to the literatures review, there exists several entanglement classifications protocols that will be presented in this paper namely local unitary (LU), local operations and classical communication (LOCC), and stochastic local operations and classical communication (SLOCC). This study will offer a better understanding of quantum entanglement and the entanglement classification protocols.

QUANTUM ENTANGLEMENT AND ITS APPLICATIONS IN QUANTUM CRYPTOGRAPHY AND COMPUTING

R Abuzinadah Ahmad, Abdul Rauf

Quantum entanglement, one of the most intriguing phenomena in quantum mechanics, forms the cornerstone of emerging technologies in quantum information science. It describes the non-classical correlations between spatially separated particles, whereby the measurement outcome of one particle instantaneously determines the state of the other, regardless of the distance between them. This paper explores the fundamental principles of quantum entanglement and its critical role in advancing quantum cryptography and quantum computing. In cryptography, entanglement enables protocols such as Ekert’s E91 and BBM92 quantum key distribution schemes, which leverage nonlocal correlations to ensure unconditional security based on the violation of Bell’s inequalities. In quantum computing, entanglement serves as a powerful computational resource, facilitating speedups in algorithms, enabling quantum teleportation, and supporting robust quantum error correction techniques. The discussion integrates both theoretical underpinnings and experimental realizations, highlighting recent advances in photonic entanglement sources, superconducting qubits, and trapped-ion systems. Challenges related to decoherence, scalability, and entanglement distribution in quantum networks are examined, along with potential solutions. By bridging foundational theory with practical applications, this study underscores the pivotal role of entanglement in shaping the future of secure communications and computational paradigms beyond the capabilities of classical systems.

On measures of quantum entanglement — A brief review

Debasis Sarkar

Entanglement is one of the most useful resources in quantum information processing. It is effectively the quantum correlation between different subsystems of a composite system. Mathematically, one of the most hard tasks in quantum mechanics is to quantify entanglement. However, progress in this field is remarkable but not complete yet. There are many things to do with quantification of entanglement. In this review, we will discuss some of the important measures of bipartite entanglement.

Multipartite entanglement measures: A review

Mengru Ma, Yinfei Li, Jiangwei Shang

Quantum entanglement, a fundamental aspect of quantum mechanics, has captured significant attention in the era of quantum information science. In multipartite quantum systems, entanglement plays a crucial role in facilitating various quantum information processing tasks, such as quantum teleportation and dense coding. In this article, we review the theory of multipartite entanglement measures, with a particular focus on the genuine as well as the operational meaning of multipartite entanglement measures. By providing a thorough and valuable insight on this field, we hope that this review would inspire and guide researchers in their endeavors to further develop novel approaches for characterizing multipartite entanglement.

Quantum Theory and Quantum Entanglement: A Review of Quantum Correlations

Sakshi Jangid, Nasreen Ansari

The most common type of quantum correlations is quantum entanglement, which plays an indisputable vital role in a number of quantum information theory tasks, including quantum teleportation, quantum dense coding, and quantum cryptography. However, current findings indicate that different Entanglement is not necessary for applications in quantum information theory, and their performance can be described by a novel kind of quantum correlations that transcends entanglement. The most well-liked candidate for such widespread quantum connections is quantum discord, which Zurek first proposed more than ten years ago. We provide an overview of this current line of inquiry in this work. Following a brief overview of the fundamental ideas of quantum theory and entanglement, we introduce quantum discord and generic quantum correlations and go over three applications that are predicated on this novel kind of correlation: transmission of correlations, entanglement dispersion, and remote state preparation. We also provide an outlook for future research in this area.
