Abstract

The objective of the present work is to didactically analyze, in the context of relativistic quantum mechanics, the algebraic structuring of the dot product between two quantum wavefunctions relative to a spin-0 quantum particle, assuming the light cone coordinates. For that, the linear momentum tensor is used in four dimensions, considering the description of the operational and quantum character of energy and linear momentum in three dimensions, as well as defining a pseudo volumetric probability density from which the product is reached scalar, properly written in terms of light cone coordinates.

Calculation of the creation and annihilation operators of a free particle in the light cone coordinate formalism

Jorge Kysnney Santos Kamassury, Damião Pedro Meira Filho, Charles da Rocha Silva +3 more

This work didactically presents the mathematical procedures required for the construction of the creation and annihilation operators for a free quantum particle considering the coordinates of the light cone. For that, the relationships between the aforementioned coordinates and the coordinates (ct, x, y, z) are listed, in addition to the use of the Klein-Gordon-Fock equation in the formalism of the light cone coordinates. Finally, the temporal evolution operator and the quantum operators of creation and annihilation of the integral type of motion are obtained.

Symplectic Field Theory of the Galilean Covariant Scalar and Spinor Representations

G. X. A. Petronilo, S. C. Ulhoa, A. E. Santana

We explore the concept of the extended Galilei group, a representation for the symplectic quantum mechanics in the manifold G, written in the light-cone of a five-dimensional de Sitter space-time in the phase space. The Hilbert space is constructed endowed with a symplectic structure. We study the unitary operators describing rotations and translations, whose generators satisfy the Lie algebra of G. This representation gives rise to the Schr¨odinger (Klein–Gordon-like) equation for the wave function in the phase space such that the dependent variables have the position and linear momentum contents. The wave functions are associated to the Wigner function through the Moyal product such that the wave functions represent a quasiamplitude of probability. We construct the Pauli–Schr¨odinger (Dirac-like) equation in the phase space in its explicitly covariant form. Finally, we show the equivalence between the five-dimensional formalism of the phase space with the usual formalism, proposing a solution that recovers the non-covariant form of the Pauli–Schr¨odinger equation in the phase space.

The Klein-Gordon-Fock theory as a one-particle relativistic quantum mechanics

N. L. Chuprikov

The Klein-Gordon-Fock (KGF) theory is presented as a single-particle relativistic quantum theory. A Schrodinger-type equation for a single-component wave function is derived. In addition to the KGF Hamiltonian, operators for momentum and orbital angular momentum for a scalar boson are identified, which act within the space of single-component wave functions. This theory is applicable to both massive and massless scalar bosons.

Damião Pedro Meira Filho, Jorge Kysnney Santos Kamassury, Sérgio Antônio de Souza Farias +2 more

History state formalism for scalar particles

N. L. Diaz, J. M. Matera, R. Rossignoli

We present a covariant quantum formalism for scalar particles based on an enlarged Hilbert space. The particular physical theory can be introduced through a timeless Wheeler DeWitt-like equation, whose projection onto four-dimensional coordinates leads to the Klein-Gordon equation. The standard quantum mechanical product in the enlarged space, which is invariant and positive definite, implies the usual Klein-Gordon product when applied to its eigenstates. Moreover, the standard three-dimensional invariant measure emerges naturally from the flat measure in four dimensions when mass eigenstates are considered, allowing a rigorous identification between definite mass history states and the standard Wigner representation. Connections with the free propagator of scalar field theory and localized states are subsequently derived. The formalism also allows the superposition of different theories and remains valid in the presence of a fixed external field, revealing special orthogonality relations. Other details such as extended identities for the current density, the quantization of parameterized theories and the nonrelativistic limit, with its connection to the Page and Wooters formalism, are discussed. A related consistent second quantization formulation is also introduced.

Estudo e Divulgação da Mecânica Quântica Relativística da Equação de Klein-Gordon à Nivel de Graduação

Victor Lima
