The effect of anisotropy on holographic entanglement entropy and mutual information

Peng Liu, Chao Niu, Jian-Pin Wu

We study the effect of anisotropy on holographic entanglement entropy (HEE) and holographic mutual information (MI) in the Q-lattice model, by exploring the HEE and MI for infinite strips along arbitrary directions. We find that the lattice always enhances the HEE. The MI, however, is enhanced by lattice for large sub-regions; while for small sub-regions, the MI is suppressed by the lattice. We also discuss how these phenomena result from the deformation of geometry caused by Q-lattices.

Mutual information and the structure of entanglement in quantum field theory

Brian G. Swingle

I study the mutual information between spatial subsystems in a variety of scale invariant quantum field theories. While it is derived from the bare entanglement entropy, the mutual information offers a more refined probe of the entanglement structure of quantum field theories because it remains finite in the continuum limit. I argue that the mutual information has certain universal singularities that are a manifestation of the idea of "entanglement per scale". Moreover, I propose a method, based on an ansatz for higher dimensional twist operators, to compute the entanglement entropy, Renyi entropy, and mutual information in a general quantum field theory. The relevance of these results to the search for renormalization group monotones, to holographic duality, and to entanglement based simulation methods for many body systems are all discussed.

Holographic entanglement entropy and mutual information in deformed field theories at finite temperature

Hajar Ebrahim, Monireh Ahmadpour

In this paper we have studied the effect of deformation and temperature on holographic entanglement entropy and mutual information between two subsystems in a deformed field theory at finite temperature. The $T\overline{T}$ deformation operator in field theory introduces a cutoff in the dual gravity background. We define different regimes of parameters and calculate the entanglement entropy and mutual information analytically. We observe that temperature and deformation parameter have similar effects on entanglement entropy and mutual information. They both lead to decrease in mutual information or somehow the correlation between the two subsystems. Interestingly we observe the emergence of correction terms in entanglement entropy and mutual information that are universal and do not depend on the scale of the nonlocal operator.
